It was our first stay at an All Star resort and we would definitely go back to All Star Music. We stayed in Calypso near the pool. Not to noisy and a very short walk to the busses. Had a wonderful stay. Loved all the towel animals as well! :thumbsup2

:goodvibes We just got back from there too! We also stayed in Calypso near the pool. I loved the location, but I think it was a little noisy. Not too bad.....next time we'll bring a noise maker for our room:thumbsup2

we leave in 2 days for ASMu and Im so happy that I've seen all the good reviews. It has eased my mind quite a bit. Thanks!!

I stayed there the last week of August and I loved ASMu. I stayed in the Braodway section and it was perfect. It was close to the piano pool and a reasonable walk to the food court and buses. Plus, it was really cute. In my opinion it was the cutest building in the complex. And the piano pool was never really crowded. I would stay there again without hesistation. :thumbsup2

(p.s. - I liked it better than POP. It never seemed as crowded or as hectic)

Great to hear all the positive feedback regarding ASMu...We are extremely excited about our upcoming trip their next month!

Also stayed at ASMU last week in August. Broadway section - we loved it. I had heard many positive comments before we left and they really lived up to it. We are thinking about staying there again next year.

I'm glad to hear all the great comments also, that's where DH wants to stay for our trip next year.

We will be there in less than 2 weeks. We have booked a preferred building, but I requested rooms facing away from the pool. I know that the rooms facing the pool can be a bit noisy.

We just got back as well- 9/11-9/17. We were unable to get a preferred room, and we got a room on the back of the last Broadway building, so quite a bit from Melody Hall. We saw all the cool towel animals in all the windows, and despite leaving tips, and my 8 y.o. DS writing a cute note/drawing the last day, we never saw one. And most of all, the bus situation is HORRENDOUS! I can not believe how many hours we wasted because we relied on Disney transportation. The room was fine, nothing spectacular, but overall clean. I was surprised to hear that they were all rehabbed, because there was a lot of rust in the bathroom- the door hinges, the sprinkler covers. We still had a great time, and face it, $82 a night including all your meals can't be beat, but I doubt we will ever stay at an All-Stars again, and if for some reason we did, I would NEVER consider doing it without renting a car.

I have a couple of question for those of you who have recently stayed at ASMu.

My DD and I were at WDW last weekend - we stayed at ASSports. I have to say I really did not care for it at all. I have stayed at POP on 2 previous trips and was very disappointed. I understand that ASMu has been renovated :thumbsup2 . We have reservations there for late Oct (10 nights).

My questions:

Are the beds comfortable?
Could you tell me about the mattresses? (sorry, strange question I know)
How about your TV reception? size of TV? (at ASSP it was awful, could hardly get any clear channels..not to mention very small 19" - maybe just our room:confused3 ) We had the old style wall unit.
Is there a shelf at the sink area or place to put a coffeemaker? At POP there is a shelf that runs under the mirror and above the sink area. I was hoping they added that when the redid the rooms.
What about the food court? Was it refurbished also? I found ASSp to be alot different than POP. I thought there was MUCH less selection, especially in the prepackaged items.
What type of toiletries did they use? Was it the newer ones (blue & white) or the older shampoo/conditioner combo with Mickey?

We were only there 3 nights and were hardly at the resort. It was fine for 3 nights but I would not have been happy there for a full vacation. I am hoping that since ASMu is refurbished (and you all liked it) it is much better than Sports.

Thanks for your input!:)

Glad you liked it!
We stayed there in January, but did not get to enjoy the pool due the 50 degree weather. We would go back.

I feel the same way about it! It is my favorite value and I will be back there in December!

The beds were OK. If you have a pillow top at home, or prefer a soft bed, then the answer is probably no. It's the first time I've ever stayed at a hotel and missed my bed at home. I did see what kind of bed it was since they don't use FITTED SHEETS! They use two thin white flat sheets that are inevitably off the bed/untucked by the time you wake up in the morning. I do believe they were Sealy- the mattress and boxspring are blue. There is NO WAY the beds in our room were replaced during the rehab. You could tell that the bed looked a bit worn.

The TV looked to be about a 25 inch, but yes, it's the old style tube type TV. We didn't watch much TV, but we didn't have any problems with getting channels.

I don't remember seeing an extra shelf by the sink, but there is probably room to squeeze in a coffee maker.

We actually liked the food court and thought there was plenty of selections. This is one of the biggest complaints we have had in the past about Deluxe resorts. I don't know if it was rehabbed, but it looked to be clean and everything was in good shape.

Yes, you get the new toiletries- a shampoo, and two different size round soaps. Not sure if the mods and deluxes have more, but they did last time we stayed at one. I even have a few sewing kits still laying around from CR in the 90's! :)

Here's a photo of our room. Hope it helps.

Oh! And we did not have that curtain to the sink area in our room.

Right, I forgot about that. I had read there would be a privacy curtain and there was none. Broadway bldg 8. And to answer about the beds. They seem small when you are used to a queen at home and they are a little hard for my taste. The tv seemed fine, but we did not watch it that much.

Thanks for the input everyone. ASMu looks much better than where we stayed at Sports.:thumbsup2

I am curious which bldg. to request?
Which rooms have the curtain?....I would love that.

thanks again!:thumbsup2

TTFN,
Darlene

Thanks for your review! I'm curious about the privacy curtain, too. I thought all rooms had them.
