Hi Everyone,
Just go back from the April 20th Magic Cruise and I wanted to give a report on my first Disney Cruise. This board was so
helpful to me so I wanted to return the favor. There were seven
of us on this cruise, four adults and 3 children ages 2,4,6. Well,
first I will give all the good things about the cruise. The ship is
beautiful and well laid out. Embarkation and disembarkation
went very smoothly. We have been on two previous cruises,
one with Carnival and one with Celebrity. We found ourselves
comparing the ships and believe me it is a whole different world.
The shows were truly magical and could not have been presented any better for children. I am 52 and even though the
shows were great they were really not what I would want to
see. Our grandchildren loved them and so did our daughter and
son in law, so I think it was an age thing. There were at least
900 children on board and maybe more. Therefore, there was
a lot of loud dinners, as well as, a lot faster service at meals due
to th fact that the children don't sit well for long periods. The crew aboard the Magic were all great with the children and had to have the most patience I have ever seen. The main complaints I would have to say was the food was disappointing.
The desserts were very good but the food was poor and the
diner selections were bad. But remember, this was just our opinion and I think I was a little spoiled from our last cruise on Celebrity. I think I was expecting more since this was the most
expensive cruise we had been on. I also felt bad for my daughter because she thought she would get a little free time but the clubs did not work out well for our girls and the two year old
would not stay in the nursery after the first day there. This was a surprise to us because she will usually go to anyone. So this stopped my daughter and her husband from getting to go to Palos which is probably the highlight of my trip. It is a must if you can possibly make it. We had no problem getting all the reservations we wanted. (Palos and babysitting) We did not use
the spa so I can't comment about that. The ports of call were
great and we enjoyed them all. Castaway Cay was beautiful and my favorite stop. The sun was extremely hot there and we all got sunburn even with lotion on. So it is important to keep re-applying it. All in all it was a good vacation but not quite what
we were expecting. I feel I need a vacation from our vacation.
If anyone has any questions I can help with I will be glad to try.
Good Luck and Happy Sailing
