Know that many love the AKL concierge, so please keep in mind this is just my own opinion.
We had booked through the AKL concierge the Grand One cruise to view wishes. They set the time of the cruise at 8:30. When we arrived at AKL I noticed that Wishes would now be at 10 PM by which time our cruise would be over. I contacted concierge who was unaware of the time change. No problem, but instead of correcting my night, time was spent checking to see if the time change would affect future guests while I sat there waiting to get mine corrected. I was told someone would contact me the following day. No one contacted me by 4 PM the next day so went back to the CL. There was someone different there who was not the least interested in following up. Just said "oh I'm sure it's been taken care of" but didn't seen to want to call anyone to be sure until I insisted.
Thought the CM's who serviced the lounge were excellent but just felt the service from the CM's behind the desk was lacking. Little things - I need two hopper passes from a few years ago checked to see how many days I had left. The CM seemed annoyed to be bothered to do this.
We had a room on the zebra trail; first pod. Loved the zebra trail but would recommend third or fourth pod as our room overlooked the area were people stood to view the animals so it tended to be a bit noisy at times.
Mousekeeping was a bit lacking. When we checked in, there was makeup, a bottle of visine and a comb left from the previous guests. All out in the open so was surprising mousekeeping missed it.
Because of sunrise safari, I would recommend CL to a first time AKL guest, but I personally would probably not spend the extra money again. JMHO (no flames please)
