We just got back Sunday night from a 1 night stay at AKL and an 8 night stay at the Poly. Our trip was WONDERFUL-so much in fact, we bought into DVC!!! Looks like we will be going back a good bit the next 50 years!!! You will not hear any complaints from me!!! I'll be glad to answer any questions you have.

War Eagle to you, too! And Welcome Home! (We're DVC'ers, too.) We'll be staying at the Poly during our NYE trip in a few months. (Four nights at our "home" BWV, three at the Poly.)

Just saw your name and the DVC and wanted to say hello.

Where was your room at the Poly?

Julie

We were in Samoa, room 3604, Volcano Pool view. It was a wonderful location. I had faxed a letter the day we left (3 days before we checked in) but apparently they did not receive it. I had a medical reason for requesting Samoa (a central location to everything in the resort). After a short wait, the CM returned and said they could honor my request. We checked in around 8:00 a.m., but our room was not ready. I loved sitting on our balcony. I could stand and watch my 2 ds come down the volcano slide. A great location that I would highly recommend.

Can you tell me if your room had an inside door connecting to the next room? I would love a Samoa balcony room and yours sounds perfect. Could you see the whole pool from the balcony or just the slide? One of us will be stuck in the room with a napping baby so I thought it would be fun to watch the others having fun in the pool. Thanks for any feedback.

This was a connecting room. The rooms here are very spacious. The view of the pool was not a complete view, due to landscaping and pool furniture. I don't think there is a room with a complete view of the pool due to this. I do think you will be pleased with this room. You can see a good bit of the pool, as well as the beach. We had a wonderful view of the GF as well as being able to see part of the water parade at night. I would stay in this location again. I can tell you that they have sensors on the balcony door. If it is open, the air cond. would not cut on. I guess they do this so people will not leave the balcony doors open. The rooms were very clean, but we did not get any towel animals this year (we did last). I hope you enjoy your stay here.

HI,

IS THERE A LOT OF WALKING, TO GET FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER OR IS THE RESORT FAIRLY SMALL?

THANKS

DIANE

Hi.. welcome back and congrats on your DVC. :)

What did you think of AKL?

Can I ask you a question abt the Poly?

We're thinking of staying there for a future trip. We like "hotel" style buildings. I'm a bit nervous about the Poly having so many buildings. I'm sure we'd have the worst luck & get put in a far corner! *LOL*

How far is the walk from the furthest corners to the monorail/resturants building? How about to the main pool? I'd like to be able to run down & grab a cup of coffee in just a couple of minutes.

Thanks,

Thank you for your response. I'm assuming your room was connecting with #3603, is this correct? Thanks for the heads up about the A/C, the way my little guy screams, I'm sure the whole pool will hear him when he wakes up!! Sounds like your room would be perfect for us!

No it doesn't connect with 3603. It connects with 3605. It seems that 3601 doesn't connect with another room so 3602 & 3603 connect and 3604 and 3605 connect.

AKL was okay for us for one night but it is SO far away from everything. You have to bus to everything. As for the resort itself, the novelty of this resort is the animals. They do move around a good bit but in one night's stay, we had seen 70% of what there was to see. The pool is okay - it does have a hot tub/spa unlike the Poly - but the side is slow and short. Boma's was good but Ohana was much better to me. It was nice but I would rather stay at a different Deluxe resort.

The resort is not that large. This is one reason we like it so well. If you look at Tikeman's site, you will be able to see lots of info, including maps of the resort. It is very family oriented. The walkways are so relaxing and everything is very close. We have stayed in Niue and Samoa and like both of these locations. If you are placed in a longhouse you do not want, just ask to be relocated. Even if you are in one of the farthest longhouses, you are no more than a 5 minute walk to the GCH and main pool. This our favorite resort. I think you will love it here.

Thanks again...we all know what happens when you assume so I'm glad I asked!
