Dh, ds and I are just back from 5 nights at AKL. We stayed on DVC points 'cuz we planned this trip at the last minute and the DVC resorts were all booked.
We had spent one night at AKL 3 years ago, so we were looking forward to having more time to explore the resort. We had booked a water view but they upgraded us to Savanna. We were on the 2nd floor, Kudu trail.
The hotel was packed, but every castmember we encountered was wonderful. I was really impressed with how great they were, especially after all they've been through this summer.
We did find the hotel beautiful but dark and we missed the space and privacy we have in a DVC one-bedroom. I also missed the kitchen and the washer & dryer ($4 a load to wash and dry, and actually most things didn't dry in the dryers -- there were several of us grumbling about that).
Bus service was pretty good overall, but it was so busy that we were wishing for more buses -- they were often standing room only, coming and going.
We enjoyed the hotel and are glad we stayed there for something different, but are going to be doing the DVC thing from this point forward. It's a better use of our points and the extra room has spoiled us.
