Just back last night. We stayed an extra 2 nights due the Jeanne, but overall a fun time! Any questions, feel free to ask!

We're heading to AKL in Nov. We had heard the pool slide was closed...is it open now?

I'd love to hear your impressions of AKL - your room location, any of the restaurants, storytelling...anything you can think of that might be useful to note!

Thanks:wave2:

Leaving for AKL next friday and can't wait!! Anything you can share would be awsome, I have never seen this resort, as I would not go until I could stay there! The whole buildup thing!! Is the pool slide working? What kind of snacks can you get at the pool bar? How much time could you really spend at the resorts (not counting pool time) and (animal watching) and there still be stuff to do, I know my group will spend lots of time doing those 2 things alone.:hyper: princess:

What kind of view did you have? Anything you would recommend, view wise? Was it crowded? Did they give you an upgrade?

Thanks for sharing!

Hi all!

vasoccermom:The pool slide was open, which I was worried about before we left. Was open our whole week, and my son and husband enjoyed it!:teeth:
The storytelling we went to only one night, but I wished I had done it more, because it was alot of fun! My boys sat and listened, although I don't think they could understand alot of the words because of the storyteller's accents, but it was still very enjoyable! We ate at Boma's twice, and it was GREAT! The staff was wonderful and so was the food.
I booked a standard room, and I did not get an upgrade, but I wasn't really expecting one. I'm not one to ask or request one, so I got what I paid for, which was fine with me.

Dawnflower: I did not go to the pool bar. I did not spend alot of time at the resort, because I have two small boys, so we went to parks, took naps, went back to parks, ate, and went to sleep!:teeth: But the resort was beautiful and I wish I hadn't been so rushed to go from park to park.

wildernesslodgelover: My view was of trees:teeth: ! (Sideways trees during Jeanne!) We were in the fourth floor on the zebra trail. I did request and get a bunk-bed room. It was close to the bus stop so we did hear them, but they were not very loud or anything. I think if I could afford a Savannah view in the furture I would go back, but I will probably stick with moderates in the near future, due to my small kids, and lack of resort time. The resort seemed pretty busy, but the busses (which were wonderful) were never packed.

But overall a wonderful trip!
If I missed anything, or you need more info, please ask!

Thank you for sharing all that! Yikes, I better look into what room to request. I do NOT want a view of just trees, if I can help it!

I agree, if you are going to do the parks that the moderates are a better deal. We have stayed at the CS before and absolutely loved it. I think we will try PO/FQ soon, too!

Thanks again!

Alecam,
Thanks so much for your trip report! Sounds great! Glad to hear the pool slide is open...my kids are already talking about that!

We have a PS for Boma for the first night...can't wait to try it! Did you find there was enough "non-exotic" food for the kids?

We have a savanna view room and requested 3rd or 4th floor...and bunk beds too!

I'm also thrilled to hear you were pleased with the bus service. Originally I was worried the resort was so remote it would be an issue but lately I've been reading that since AKL doesn't share buses, it's actually quite nice!

What time was storytelling? That might be fun one day/evening.

BTW, I love the photo of your boys...they are adorable!

Karen
I"m so excited now that it's October and I can officially say in my posts "we'll be going to AKL next month". It makes it seem so much closer!
