We recently stayed at SSR, room was ready @2:00 P.M. Room #3327 dedicated 2BR in the Springs section, water view. No problems during our stay. We own at the BCV and have stayed there many times, so I'll provide my comparison of these 2 resorts.

1) Parking- SSR wins this category since the resort is broken up into seperate buildings we were able to park right in front of our villa.

2) Theming- Disney does it best, tie.

3) Location- BCV wins this category. BCV is a 5 minute walk from Epcot's World Showcase and a 15 minute walk to MGM studios. Both parks are also accessible by boat ride. BCV is also near the Boardwalk, Yacht club, Swan and Dolphin so all of the amenities and activites are at your feet. AK and MK are short bus rides. Going to any park from SSR requires a bus ride and most of those rides seemed to take a least 30 minutes. SSR is close to DTD.

4) Pool- BCV wins with Stormalong Bay

5) View- We have had both Epcot, (Great!), and water views at BCV. We had a water view at SSR so for water views, tie.

6) Room- The rooms are larger at BCV, another BCV win.

7) Restaurants- Limited choice at SSR, Artist's Palette counter service or the Turf Club lounge. You'll need to go to DTD for other choices. BCV has many choices both in house and on the Boardwalk, as well as all those countries in EPCOT- big BCV win...

We had a great time visiting SSR, but for now BCV is our home away from home resort....

You weren't bothered by my skateboarding in the hallways, were you?

Interesting, as I have not stayed at SSR or BCV...but I was under the impression that the DVC resorts (other than OKW) had about the same size room and layout. Are they noticeably larger at BCV than SSR?

I agree with you Chuck.

Well here are the official Disney room sizes for 2BR DVC's at the Walt disney World Resort:

OKW 1395 Sq Ft
BWV 1226 Sq Ft
BCV 1083 Sq Ft
WLV 1080 Sq Ft
SSR 1075 Sq Ft

Hhmm... 8 sq ft. difference. Is it really that noticeable?

Was not noticeable at all to us. None of the rooms are exactly the same so the square footage listed is an average. You might get a BCV rooms that seems somewhat larger but then you might get one that does not. Luck of the draw.

5) View- We have had both Epcot, (Great!), and water views at BCV. We had a water view at SSR so for water views, tie

What is the water view at BCV, the pool and canal?

Believe it or not, when we walked into our room at SSR both DW and I noticed the 2BR was obviously shorter in room length than the equivalent 2BR at BCV. There also was only one balcony off the living room at SSR, BCV has at least 2 balconies, sometimes 3.

Thanks for the great comparison :thumbsup2

If you include the restaurants at Epcot for BCV, you've got to include the ones at DTD for SSR, the walk is not much further from SSR, depending on where you stay ::yes::

agree :cool1:

disagree--I think your walks must have been fast, we own at BWV and to MGM its about 15 mins from courtyard at a nice pace. :goodvibes

4) Pool- BCV wins with Stormalong Bay

agree :teeth:

5) View- We have had both Epcot, (Great!), and water views at BCV. We had a water view at SSR so for water views, tie.

disagree-- SSR at congress park is great heads up over any view at BCV IMO
your water view at BCV was the pool and canal right. :thumbsup2

6) Room- The rooms are larger at BCV, another BCV win.

disagree-- can't see the diff. its so small. :confused3

somewhat agree-- if you take out the countries at BCV and DTD at SSR you are right. But as least at DTD no pass required like in the countries, big disadvantage. :cool1:

glad you had fun

DH and I must be in the minority...........no matter which DVC resort we visit, we look for those things that make that place different, and enjoy those differences instead of comparing them :confused3 . It makes each visit unique. :thumbsup2
Before we joined DVC, we stayed at most of the various Disney hotels, at every level, and we never would have thought to compare them. Because it is Disney, every one can be appreciated for just its own "specialness", without have to be "as good as.........", or "better than.......". :goodvibes
Is Asian food as good, or better, than French food, or Mediterranean food, etc. Each is good in its own way, and everyone will have preferences, but those will ALWAYS be subjective. Isn't that also true of the DVC resorts? :confused3

DVC Grammy, I love your post. You are so right. Just enjoy the differences and have a good time. Life is too short!

Yup ... I agree ... they're all great! It just depends on what you feel like on any given trip. That's part of the magic of DVC imo! ;)

DVC Grammy, I love your post.

Me too! I feel SO lucky to have had the means to become a DVC member, and I feel like royalty when I stay at the resorts. I was worried that once the newness wore off I would lose that feeling, but you are showing me that I can keep it if I want to!

My Dad was really cute this summer. We stayed at OKW and he was sitting on the balcony watching the golfers and I came out to join him. He leans back in his chair and said: "Well, Lawsy we sure are rich now!" (It's a line from Gone With the Wind) It was just how I'd felt all day, right from the "Welcome Home" I got when I checked in. I don't think it matters where I stay, I'm going to LOVE it because I'm at Disney!

This is exactly how I feel! I wish more people could just appreciate being at Disney because of the Magic there. Not to go too far off topic, I'm glad the OP had a good time at SSR. Now I just need to calm down and pick a resort for our first trip home. I keep telling myself that I have plenty of time to try them all, but I want to stay at them all NOW!!! I have no patience

Thanks for the report. Choices are truly the beauty of DVC. Each resort is unique and different and offers something for everyone. :thumbsup2

We have visited SSR, but never stayed there. It seemed a little Too big or sprawled-out for us. For us BWV is our fav on-site and VB is our fav off-site. We're headed to VB in a few weeks and are thinking about going back to HH next spring. You are right Disney does it best.
