We are just back from celebrating our little guy's first birthday at Disney World. We were at the AKL for 6 nights and had a truly amazing time! Paul was absolutely wonderful on the planes and in the parks. It was so much easier than I had anticipated! He smiled the entire time and we never had a single melt-down. Of course, I should add that he does have a very happy, easy-going disposition most of the time, anyway. He did great just napping in his stroller and just enjoyed watching everything. Some of his favorite things were the China movie at Epcot, Illuminations, The Living Seas, Dumbo, Wishes, The Tiki Room, and the Country Bear Jamboree. We spent lots of time on our balcony watching the animals, which he really enjoyed. He also LOVED all the characters and got the biggest thrill out of swimming in the big AKL pool. He is still nursing, and I had no trouble at all nursing him all over the place. We never did use the baby care centers, as we were never nearby when we needed them. I found plenty of nice benches and places in the shade to nurse. No one ever paid us any attention. The single most useful item I packed was a twin size sheet that had been cut in half. We used it to drape over the stoller canopy to give him some extra shade. When he was sleeping in the stroller, we could drape it so he was completely covered - like his own little rolling tent! We also used it to sit on the ground when we were waiting for Illumianations and Wishes. We even just spread it out on the grass a few times so he could get down and crawl - he isn't walking yet. We had a great time and I would be happy to answer any specific questions you guys might have!

Glad to hear you had a great trip.

Alot of people often ask if it's difficult to take an infant/toddler to the World and if they'd enjoy it. Your post only confirms what others have posted, thanks for letting us know!

Hope you go back for his 2nd b-day!!

Nancy

How nice to hear that you had a great trip. I love your tip about the sheet. Did you use just a flat sheet? I was wondering if a fitted sheet would stay on the stroller better? We didn't need to worry about the heat in Jan (it was actually in the 40's a few days) but I will need to think about it this October.

We just used a flat sheet. I did forget to say that we took some clothes pins to clip it to the stoller. We saw a lot of people trying to do the same thing with beach towels, towels from the resort, etc. I think the sheet would be much better, though, because it was very light weight and still allowed him to get some air circulation while blocking out the sun. It was also really light and easy to pack.

We also just returned from WDW with our one-year-old twins and had a fantastic time with them. We also took them when they were 7 months old and had an equally great time. We feel the "work" involved is only as hard as we make it be, and we choose to make the "work" fun and never stress about anything because we are in WDW with our little family and we feel so fortunate to be experiencing so many things with our babies.

We are taking our DD for her first birthday in July:bday:
We took her when she was 5 months old and had no problems at all. She loved the characters at 5 months and I have a great picture of her "kissing" Minnies nose. Hopefully she will still like them this trip.
Glad to here you had a great trip and thanks for the tip about the sheet and clothes pins.

We did the 1/2 twin sheet on our trip last August. It worked very well. We also had 3 clip on fans that we had on him while he was sleeping under the sheet.

I am so glad you had a great time!

We took DS1 at 14 months and he was just in awe of so many things. He made DH & I feel very young and carefree again.

DH & I had been to Disney several times before we had children, but none of those trip were as moving as the 1st one w/DS1.

Seing Dinsey through your child's eyes is a emotional experience!
