Wonderful time, great room for a WONDERFUL $! (THANKS Dagny at DU!)
I requested third floor, back side, non-smoking, Jazz.
We received all but Jazz. We were in Rock Inn. But we were VERY happy with our location and ASMu did a GREAT job at placing us.
We wanted quiet and got it.
The cheerleaders were in the Jazz buildings when we arrived. So thank goodness we didn't get in that building!
Although they were very nice and well behaved. They didn't deter from the resort or the parks.
Most marathoners seemed to be in Rock Inn. We think ASMu did a great job at keeping the groups together.
The Jazz/Calypso buildings were empty most of the time we were there. Cleaning maybe? Although we didn't see any work crews.
One gal told us she knew a runner who was relocated to another room so the room he originally had could be renovated.
By Thursday the soccer kids were piling in. They were a more rowdy than the cheerleaders. But still not bad. Just plentiful.
Our room was clean, mousekeeping was great. No towel animals. But a good clean room, in good shape. And that's what really counts.
Upon entering, we had a note stating the carpet had been recently shampooed and may still be damp. But it wasn't, and there were no lingering smells.
The only time it was noisy was the early morning hours of the marathon. DH and I don't usually sleep well that night anyway. We went to bed early.
Around 1 a.m. I heard a bunch of carrying on (from the cheerleaders) in a nearby parking lot. (We were near a parking lot, but not facing it. We were next to the elevator, near the building center.)
After awhile I was too curious and padded outside to see what was going on. It sounded like a frat party.
Busses were piling in and must have been boarding dozens of cheerleaders and they all left after about a half hour. But they were really carrying on and yelling, cheering, screaming, etc, for at least an hour.
I was disappointed in them for how inconsiderate they were, considering the hour and they were waking the whole complex probably.
Then I heard even MORE busses piling in. One after another, and parking at a depot/maintainence building out back. They had probably at least a dozen busses lines up, getting ready to take the marathoners to the start.
So luckily, we don't sleep well that night anyway. (DH is one of the marathon runners.) And that was the only noisy night we had at ASMu. Other than that, it was very quiet.
The food court was *okay* at best. We only had breakfast a few times. It never mattered how crowded or dead it was, a *hot* breakfast was more on the cold side. It was a quick bite.
We checked in approx 5 p.m. Friday (10th) and it was busy. We had to wait approx 1/2 hour in line. But check in went smooth otherwise.
We had our luggage held most of the day yesterday (18th) and had good service with that.
ASMo was busier, from what we saw. We like ASMo better. But those guests do have disadvantages. (Longer, more corwded bus lines.) The busses picked them up last, and often they had to stand. Or even a few times the bus we rode were so full it by-passed ASMo.
ASMo guests were always last off too.
This was our second ASMu stay and won't be our last.
THUMBS UP!!
