Wonderful time, great room for a WONDERFUL $! (THANKS Dagny at DU!)
I requested third floor, back side, non-smoking, Jazz.
We received all but Jazz. We were in Rock Inn. But we were VERY happy with our location and ASMu did a GREAT job at placing us.
We wanted quiet and got it.
The cheerleaders were in the Jazz buildings when we arrived. So thank goodness we didn't get in that building! :jester: Although they were very nice and well behaved. They didn't deter from the resort or the parks.
Most marathoners seemed to be in Rock Inn. We think ASMu did a great job at keeping the groups together.
The Jazz/Calypso buildings were empty most of the time we were there. Cleaning maybe? Although we didn't see any work crews.
One gal told us she knew a runner who was relocated to another room so the room he originally had could be renovated.
By Thursday the soccer kids were piling in. They were a more rowdy than the cheerleaders. But still not bad. Just plentiful. ;)
:jester:
Our room was clean, mousekeeping was great. No towel animals. But a good clean room, in good shape. And that's what really counts. :)
Upon entering, we had a note stating the carpet had been recently shampooed and may still be damp. But it wasn't, and there were no lingering smells.
The only time it was noisy was the early morning hours of the marathon. DH and I don't usually sleep well that night anyway. We went to bed early.
Around 1 a.m. I heard a bunch of carrying on (from the cheerleaders) in a nearby parking lot. (We were near a parking lot, but not facing it. We were next to the elevator, near the building center.)
After awhile I was too curious and padded outside to see what was going on. It sounded like a frat party.
Busses were piling in and must have been boarding dozens of cheerleaders and they all left after about a half hour. But they were really carrying on and yelling, cheering, screaming, etc, for at least an hour.
I was disappointed in them for how inconsiderate they were, considering the hour and they were waking the whole complex probably.
Then I heard even MORE busses piling in. One after another, and parking at a depot/maintainence building out back. They had probably at least a dozen busses lines up, getting ready to take the marathoners to the start.
So luckily, we don't sleep well that night anyway. (DH is one of the marathon runners.) And that was the only noisy night we had at ASMu. Other than that, it was very quiet.

The food court was *okay* at best. We only had breakfast a few times. It never mattered how crowded or dead it was, a *hot* breakfast was more on the cold side. It was a quick bite.

We checked in approx 5 p.m. Friday (10th) and it was busy. We had to wait approx 1/2 hour in line. But check in went smooth otherwise.
We had our luggage held most of the day yesterday (18th) and had good service with that.

ASMo was busier, from what we saw. We like ASMo better. But those guests do have disadvantages. (Longer, more corwded bus lines.) The busses picked them up last, and often they had to stand. Or even a few times the bus we rode were so full it by-passed ASMo.
ASMo guests were always last off too.

This was our second ASMu stay and won't be our last.

THUMBS UP!!

Luv2Roam,
We just stayed at ASMU in January also and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the room. The carpeting looked new to me as well as the furniture and bedspreads or at least they looked new. I think the mattresses were new also since they were the ones that are high off the ground. The bathrooms were in excellent shape also.

The last time I stayed at ASMU, the carpeting had stains and the furniture had "bubbled" from putting drinks on it. The walls also had marks on them. I have to agree the room was very clean and well taken care of.

BTW I should add that we were in Rock Inn also but on the front side.

Thanks for the report! I'll be checking in at ASMu tonight and eagerly awaiting finding out what room/building I'll have and how things will go. From the sounds of it- it will go great! Especially considering the price I paid... in other words I'll be more lenient on things than I might have been if I was spending 200+ per night -yanno? :)

Can't wait! We take off to drop me at the airport in just a few hours!!!!!!!

I will be staying at ASMu on my next trip. Everybody is saying how noisy it is. I am terrified because I am such a light sleeper. I thought that I wanted to be in Jazz, but now I'm thinking I may want to be as far away from everybody else as possible. There will be a dance team camp gong on while we are there. Do you think that instead of faxing a building request ahead of time that I should just wait until I get there and ask where all of the girls are staying & get as far away as possible?

I always have trouble sleeping because of the noise and toilets flushing.

Well, a few trips ago I packed my humidfier because DS had a cold. We slept great. The humming of the humidifier blocked out any noise! I brought it on our last trip to ASSp and slept great! I also brought my own pillow- little by little I am learning.....

I have to say that I didn't notice any noise or toilets flushing. I made a point to listen because of what I read on the boards here. The only time I heard flushing was when I was in the bathroom itself and it wasn't very loud. Maybe it was just the room we were in, but we really had no problem with noise at all.

I request the third floor because of the noise from running water.
We stayed in Calypso in October, second floor. It was a busy weekend and the noise between rooms was stronger.
And keep in mind you can ask for Jazz, but that doesn't mean you will get it. We asked for Jazz too. But I think it worked out to our benefit not to have had it.
DH is a very light sleeper. I tell him he would hear an ant's fart. ;) To save us both a lot of grief and gain sleep, he wears disposable ear plugs while sleeping away from home. He sleeps great with them. I usually get up before him and shower and even that doesn't wake him.
For longer trips I take a night light, so we don't have to turn on lights and wake each other up.
The marathon was great as usual. Great running weather, or so he said. ;)
The busses ran perfect. Their shirts were nicer this year, although "The Foot Locker" is in HUGE letters on the back. Oh well.
They allowed more runners in this year and you could tell. Traffic and crowds were heavier, but not bad. Except traffic going into Epcot after the race was backed way up.
We have AP's, so getting into parks was no big deal. It was interesting that I went to MK, as many did, to see the runners. It was before official park hours and they were letting in anyone (without checking for passes) as long as they said they were there for the marathon.
I had MK to myself. It was FABULOUS for me too! ;)
DH finished in just a few minutes over 4 hours! And he was still pretty fresh and rested afterwards. No ill effects in any way! :Pinkbounc
And I agree with Momto8. You rarely hear any water noise unless you happen to be at the sink or in the tiolet area too.

We also requested Jazz, but the room wasn't ready when we checked in. The CM told us if we wanted to wait, we could get it later in the day, but it was New Years Eve and we wanted to get to the MK before it closed. We also didn't want to be unloading our car after midnight, so we decided to just take the room at Rock Inn. It was probably quieter being in Rock Inn than Jazz anyways. We were on the first floor too.

Luv2Roam, that's great that you had the MK to yourself.
