We got back late last night from WDW and used the MYW meal plan for our stay. I'll post some specifics later, but a few general comments. (On paper, I was a huge fan of the plan before I left).
First, it really is an incredible value. You could throw all your counter service and snacks away, and still come out ahead. The food prices seem more outrageous than ever, and our CHEAPEST table service restaurant meal was over $130.00 for two adults and two teens. Our highest was $223.00.
The bad news is that sometimes you are obligated to eat when you really don't feel like eating. You have to be too regimented in planning your days and nights around meals. The restaurants were very busy last week--very few of them that we saw seemed to be accepting any walk ins at dinner. That meant we had to keep the PS we made three months ago, whether we really wanted to or not. Our mistake was to try to max out the plans value by using the table service credits at the more expensive restaurants for dinner, and using the counter service primarily for lunches.
In retrospect, would I purchase the plan again? Yes, probably, BUT......I would not try to maximize it by choosing huge table service dinners every night. I would use it more for table service lunches (which are less crowded and easier to do walk-ins without reservations), and just plan a couple of dinners, and use the counter service credits for breakfasts and a few light dinners on the nights you don't feel like a feast. You would still come out ahead dollar wise, and be able to enjoy the convenience of the plan.
As far as the mechanics of the plan go, it is simple to use, and the Disney people now have it down to a science. We didn't have a single glitch or problem. You simply hand them the card, and you get an itemized bill, which shows you the total you used and the total you had remaining. Even at the snack carts, we had no problem, and everyone was happy to accept the plan.

Glad to here that the meal plan worked for you. We too are thinking of using the plan when we go this Sept. I would like to here more about where and what you had to eat. Thanks for sharing this with us.
