We returned home last night from our four night stay at HH. We wish we could have stayed longer, but that was all the time we had. We were in 2212, a 2BR. The villa was clean and in pretty good shape. There were a few little problems, but just the result of normal wear and tear. Nothing that bothered us or affected our trip.
We participated in a few resort activities. We planned on doing several more activities, but we would opt out for more beach time or bike time! DS7 did the Shark Tooth/Meet the Naturalist activity. He enjoyed it and Gwynneth did a nice job with the children. We did the campfire and the CM's were very energetic. My DH and DD14 did the kayaking trip. They had never kayaked before and they had a nice trip. DS11 spent quite a bit of time fishing from the pier. He didn't catch anything, but enjoyed it none the less! We rented bikes and would use those to bike to the beach house, miniature golf and around the resort.
The weather was wonderful. It was mid 80's most of the time and absolutely beautiful. Apparently there had been quite a bit of rain prior to our arrival on Saturday. Several people made mention of the recent rains. Also, mosquitoes were bad in some areas and that too was blamed on the recent rainy weather. But while we were there, it was perfect!
We had breakfast & lunch in the room each day, but enjoyed meals out in the evenings. We ate at Ruan Thai one night and really liked that. We tried to go to Scott's on Sunday night, but they are apparently closed on Sundays - so we walked across to Kingfisher. I thought my research on the Dis indicated it wasn't that great - and my memory was correct! We didn't hate it, but it certainly isn't someplace we'll want to try again. We also ate at Marley's and the Old Oyster Factory. Both of these were very good and worth going to again.
We've never been to HH during the summer, only fall breaks and a trip once in Dec/Jan. I'd love to go one summer when everything is in full swing - but until that time - October is fine with me! We've never been there when the bar at the beach house is open, but this year they had moved all the bar stuff over to Signals and while it was open, you could have a drink prepared there. I didn't ever remember that being an option during our other trips and the girl who waited on me there said it was something they were trying this year. I gave that a big
It was nice to have a margarita while relaxing at the pool.
All in all, another great DVC trip - gotta love it!
