We just got back about two hours ago from spending three nights at POR and 2 nights at WL. After going to Disney over 39 times in 13 years, we got a nice surprise at WL, we were upgraded to a view of the vacation club pool. It was nice. I only wished we were spending more than two nights there. It rained while we were there, but we really had a good time. As I say a rainy day at disney is better than any day at home.

If anyone has any questions, I will be happy to answer them if I can.

We had room 5136 in WL there was no refrigerator in our room. There was an ironing board, iron, coffee maker and coffee.

We had room 2406 in POR we had a refrigerator, coffee maker, coffee, ironing board and iron in this room. Our room had a trundle bed, the bed had sheets on it, and there was an extra pillow and blanket on the shelf next to the sinks. There was a curtain between the sink area and the beds. We came back on one day from all day at the parks to find our room had not been made (cleaned) it was almost 6:30pm. We had to call the front desk, because when we called housekeeping, the phone just rang and rang. They said they would send someone. We ate at Boatwrights. It was a bit disappointing. My husband ordered the Jumbalaya and it was dry. He didn't eat that much of it. I ordered the ravioli, it was just ok. I ordered the garlic mozzerella bites for an appetizer. they were ok, but not really warm. I think the best part was my son's french bread pizza. He really enjoyed it. They did bring us cornbread, but I like my cornbread warm and it was just room temp. Husband ended up eating it instead of his meal.

We really didn't spend too much time at the WL. Except at night to go swimming. We had a good time there. The pool on the first night was a bit chilly after being in the hot tub. The second night my son and I went right into the pool and had a blast. DH went into the hot tub for a little while, then joined us for a long game of tag in the pool.

Didn't mean to bore anyone. Just typing some things that were fresh in my mind.

Let me know if anyone has any questions.

Hi and thanks for sharing. Were you in the Alligator Bayou section? If so, how did you like it? Also, how did you like Ol' Man Island? Can you tell me a little about the pool and hot tub area at POR.

Thanks! :flower:

I was wondering if you requested a refrigerator at WL - I thought that they were free of charge at all the Deluxe resorts now, and if one wasn't in the room, all you had to do was ask....we are staying there in July and need a fridge because we need to store medications - I will be adding it to our room request if they aren't "automatic"

I just was at WL last week, and I did not have frig in room either. I did mention it and housekeeping brought one right up...no charge

We stayed at POR last month so maybe I can answer your questions! We stayed in the AB section and loved it. We were in building 36 which seemed far out but we loved it. Very close to the quiet pool and laundry room. It was very quiet, never heard another soul and since the resort was 98% sold out that was pretty amazing. Parking was never a problem and the buses ran just fine. Nice covered bus stops were really a plus. The resort is so lovely and peaceful we actually didn't commando the parks as usual because we wanted to spend time there! The room was very spacious and the privacy curtain in the bathroom area was very nice. It had two double sinks with a nice shelf above it for keeping all your personal items. I was initially disappointed we weren't in the mansions section but ended up just loving the AB section after all! Ol Man Island was a lot of fun. The bar is right there and the food court is a short walk away. My kids absolutely loved the slide and the lines to go on it never seemed bad. There were plenty of nice chairs with shade. They had plenty of towels in the daytime but ran out at night. We ended up taking a couple of extra towels one day when we knew we'd be back that night. The hot tub area was nice and also had chairs around it which was handy. The hot tub was pretty large and held quite a few people. It was very close to the main pool but somewhat secluded. We enjoyed having a late dinner a couple of times at the pool area. Be aware the food court begins offering limited fare after around 9:00. The pool had some neat effects with large bucket like things pouring water down into the pool. My son and I had a lot of fun with those. The pool always had plenty of lifeguards around in the daytime. We just really enjoyed the resort and even when it was crowded it didn't feel that way. We also enjoyed the quiet pool one night while we did laundry, no slide but still a lot of fun. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info... we are staying at WL 8/22 - 8/27 and we are hoping that we could possibly request bunk beds when we get there.. plan to get there early... just for that purpose.

Good info on the fridg. our first stay at WL... did 1 bed at OKW, and CBR... hoping it will be a very nice stay for us this year, have 2 boys.

Did you automatically get the upgrade, or did you ask for something by any chance...

Thanks for the info...

Was WL clean and nice? There is another thread about how it is in disrepair and was not clean.

The WL was very clean. The only things we saw that needed repair was a huge pretend boulder between the hot tub and the pool. On our last night they had some area around there blocked off. So I would assume they needed to get in there for repairs.

We did not and never ask for an upgrade. We just went up to the counter and gave my husbands, driver's license and credit card. We had just left POR and wanted to just check in quick and be off. The cast member said, I see you have done this before. We said we have been lots of times and knew the routine. Then he said ok, I see you have been given a free upgrade. We said wow, thanks. He finished his talk and we were off.

At POR, we always request AB. Our Building was 24, it was very very close to the west bus stop. To some it is way out there, but it was not a bad walk To the main Building. DH took the walkway along the parking area and left after DS and I did and made it to the Main Building before we got there walking along the inside path following the signs. We did not make it to the pool at POR. We did have dinner at Boatwrights and as we walked past the food court. It did not seem busy at all. it was 6:30 and in previous trips it had always been crowded. The resort was full so it was odd not seeing many people inside. Boatwrights had plenty of empty tables too.

We did not request a refrigerator at WL. From all the posts I had read. It seemed as if people were saying that there was one now in every room. I also thought since there was one in POR a moderate that they would have filled all the rooms in the deluxes with them first. Not that it really mattered to us. We only put the three bottles of water in the one at POR from our drive up and didn't need one at WL. If our stay was longer, we would have prob. used it for milk and such.

I hope I answered everyone's questions, If I didn't, please post again or if anyone has any other questions. Please ask. I love talking about my favorite place. I do miss it so already and We haven't even been home 24 hours.

Question about the hot tub and pool...are they close enough where dh and I can sit in the hot tub and still be within sight of our dd's 7,7,10?

At the WL you will not be able to see the kids in the pool. There are rocks up around the two hot tubs. There is a walkway between the two hot tubs but other than the walkways you don't see much.

As far as POR, you may be able to see a little of the pool, but not much else looking from the hottub out through the walkway.

They keep the hot tubs a bit enclosed not that there is a roof or anything, I would assume it is so people can relax.

I replied for both, because you didn't say where you would be staying.

Thank you Amy & Dan and Copper! What useful and helpful information! I think we want to give AB a try and it sounds like just what we are looking for.

Thanks Again! :flower:

When it rained did it last all day or just for short periods of time? I am leaving Friday and all week its rain and I am freaking out!!!!

TnKrBeLlA012 it was not a continuous rain. It rained on and off. Well, actually at times it poured and drizzled on and off. Just bring a poncho or buy one while you are there.

Living in Florida, we are all use to it's afternoon rain. Don't let it bother you. You will see lots of people doning their ponchos and having a blast. We also don't put a lot of weight into what the weathermen/woman say. Down here in South Fla today, they said we would have morning and afternoon showers, this was at 5am, we did not have a bit of rain. Just be prepared and have a wonderful time.
