We are just back from our first trip as DVCers to VWL. We absolutlely loved this resort. The convenience to MK was wonderful. Used the buses to the other parks without a problem.

DD 7 loved the slide at the main pool. The room was very nice and quiet. We were at the very end of the hall in 2563.

I would be glad to answer any questions.

We were there last week too from 5/26- 5/30. We had an absolutely wonderful time and love the resort.

Did your room face front or back? Studio or one-bedroom? Did you spend any time relaxing in the iron spike room? Take any lodge tours? We're going in 2 weeks-DH bought sight unseen, took my recommendation from taking the tour on a solo trip. I'm so nervous for him to like it, and I love to hear these positive reports! Anything else you can tell me, I'd appreciate it. Did you use the laundry room? Eat at Artist Point?

We had a first floor studio facing the woods. We did go to the Iron Spike room and played checkers. Also, there is a laundry room right around the corner from the elevators, at least on the first floor. Ate at Artist Point and loved it, delicious food.Had ZERO problems with the buses and boats. all in all a great experience. 6 Year old LOVED the Cub's Den which is now open in the afternoons for Arts & Crafts.

Glad you had a wonderful time.Once again. WELCOME HOME!:)

Ditto to what LodgeMan said. We were there the same time you were- 5/26-5/31. We also bought site unseen (on the cruise) so we were pleasantly surprised.

We ate at Artist Point and it was very nice. The berry cobbler was very good but you only need to order one to share! We ate at Roaring Forks Cafe a couple of times. It has just normal lunch type fast food- chicken tenders, hamburgers, DD had a PBJ.

DH did laundry one morning before I got up. I am not sure where it was but he said there was no place to put in coins so the machines were free- I asked him if he used the housekeeping laundry room by mistake because as we all know nothing at Disney is free!LOL

Our room was a studio faced the back or the woods. It was very nice and peaceful. We were as far away from the pool as you could get but even the rooms near the pool at the villas I don't think would get a lot of noise. The pool at the villas is smaller than the main pool and does not have a slide so most of the kids hang out at the main pool. There was just three of us and the studio had plenty of space.

DD7 went to the Cub's Den a couple of evenings for an or so. She loved it in there. She begged for us to let her go back! Just a note on the Cub's Den- the dinner meal is included in the fee ($6/hour) so there is no need to feed your kids before the go.

The ferry and buses ran without a problem. To get to the Magic Kingdom use the ferry and you do not have to go through the TTC. We did not spend any thime relaxing in the iron psike room so can't tell you anything abou that.

The resort is very laid back and masculine. Your husband will probably fall in love with it! We can't wait to go back in March 2003!!!

Let me know if you have more questions.

WELCOME HOME!!! (to VWL and also back to SC). Sounds like you had a good trip. Were you able to keep the trip a surprise from your DD as you planned?

Wondering about the Cub's Den in the afternoon for arts and crafts. Is this something you pay for and leave them at or do you stay with them? Sounds like you had a great time, we are dying to go!!!

.

SOMETHING at Disney is free....Laundry at the Villas!!
He did not use the housekeepers machines by mistake!

all dvc resort have the laundry room free - so the studios are equal (yea right) to the 1-bedroom and up that have a washer/dryer in the room.

(it isn't the laundry room I miss when I stay in a studio it is the whirlpool tub - but I guess I could use the one at the pool somehow it is not the same)

melk: The Cubs Den is not open in the afternoon but there are supervised scheduled activities for VWL guests which vary from day to day. There should give you an activities sheet when you check in.Someone earlier posted$6 per hour but this is what was on the web.Have a wonderful stay.:)

Wilderness Lodge - Cub's Den - 5 p.m. to 12 midnight. $8 per hour per child. Takes kids aged 4-12. This children's entertainment clubhouse offers supervised activities. Entertainment includes Disney movies and video games. Meal included. Open to all Resort Guests. Reservations accepted, call 407 WDW-DINE (939-3463).

Actually, when we were there last week, they said the Cub's Den will be open from 230-400 daily for Arts & Crafts type stuff and parents must stay with their children. We went three days in a row and our 5 year old DD loved it. She even went for a couple hours each night.
