DH, DD9, DS4 and myself just had our 1st visit to AKL. All I can say is WOW!!!! We had a savannah room for 1 night only and then to start a 7 for 4 package the following day in standard view. Initially we were put in room 3223? in the Uzima savannah- Kudu trail. I told DH if we could switch to Arusha Savannah, Zebra trail. Back to the desk and we were switched to room 3505 on Arusha Savannah..Zebra trail. What a difference. The room was nice size, clean and wonderfully decorated. We really enjoyed the balcony and viewing of the savannah. By the way, the next day we were to switch to standard view for the start of our package. However, we were allowed to stay in the savannah view....so major pixie dust for us. The pool was awesome and no problems with any pool chairs. Many families and couples were swimming. However, the pool slide was down due to a pump failure. So, the kids were disappointed in that. I just told them that we'll just have to come back to check it out.:) We ate at both Jiko and Boma for breakfast/dinner. I'll post reviews on the dining boards. Ate @ Mara once for a quick snack after dinner. Food was good! The kids were @ Simba Cub House one evening... they had a great time. Of course, they didn't want to leave.:teeth: The bus transportation was great. The longest we waited was about 10min @ Downtown disney. IMHO, AKL has so many things to see and do...such as tours, pool games and kids activities. We weren't able to take advantage of those. I told DH that we need to stay for atleast 10 days. He agreed so we could have a couple of resort days to take advantage of the many activities. Would I book another savannah view? Probably not, unless there is a great rate. However, there are so many other areas to view the savannah. Any questions...I'll be happy to answer. Sorry, for the long post.

Thanks for the info. We are going in a few weeks and am so excited. Did they give any indication as to how long the pool slide would be down? I hope it gets fixed by our trip since we will not be doing a water park and we planned on staying in a deluxe for the slide. Oh well, we'll have fun anyway I'm sure.
Did your room have bunk beds? If so I think we will request it when we go.

Can you please tell me the difference in your 2 savannah views? Why were you not pleased with your first savannah view?

Thanks!

Sounds like a great trip! What was there to do at Simba's Cubhouse for your nine-year-old? My kids will be nine when we go and I am thinking of doing this one evening, but I don't want them to be bored or think it's more for the younger kids.

I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. We just returned from our 2nd trip to AKL. We have the SavannahDeluxe view the first time and the pool view the second time. We were upgraded to a deluxe pool view and that was nice of them. We love Boma!

I really surprised myself by liking the pool view better. When we take our family trip in 2006 I will get the deluxe pool view and they can get the savannah view and I will be across the hall with my pool view. I love to people watch.

Glad to hear you had a great stay! Just wondering if the rooms had the fridges installed yet :)

Yes, we did have bunk beds and the kids enjoyed those. They also wasn't sure when the pump would be fixed.

The Uzima savannah was okay.. We were like in a corner and the kids wanted to really see Zebra etc. If we wouldn't have been able to change we still would have been happy. I thought the Arusha Savannah had a more centered(?) view of the savannah vs. just a corner. I hope that makes sense:confused:

My DD9 was the oldest in the club that night. However, she was able to do some drawing ( which she loves) and video games. Besides she was helping her little brother age 4. They were there for 2 hours. I think my DS4 enjoyed it more. They were also served dinner at 6:00 pm... DD had cheese pizza and DS had a hotdogs. The other choices were pb & j and macaroni and cheese. They both enjoyed there dinner.

Oh, I'm forgot to mention that we were given a complimentary refrigerator during our stay. We requested it during check in without any problems. It was delivered to our room in about 15 minutes. They are dorm size refrigerator and it did keep our drinks and fruit cold. The small freezer took about 2 days to freeze 2 bottles of water...but that was okay.
