Wow..what a vacation....
We survived Hurricane Charley. EVERYTHING shut down at 1pm that day and DTD was not even open.
We went out for dinner on that friday night BEFORE Charley arrived and we were greeted at the POR door by security people telling us not to go anywhere.
We did...Giordano's and Pizza Uno were opened. We ate at Giordano's and got back around 7:30PM....just before the big Charley hit.
We stayed at POR for 11 nights from the 11th to 22nd. POR is our favorite...but I will say this....ITS TIME FOR THE AB SECTION TO GET RENOVATED.
I noticed that Partierre Place in the mansion side was shut down. That was it. Everything else seemed opened.
Our room #2757 had an outstanding view of the river and water wheel. That was about it. The room was looking worn and the bath area needed new tile.
Overall grade - C.
Buses were really not a factor. I would suggest that you go to the main depot to catch your bus. By the time the bus made its way around POR..it was filled.
Coming back from the Parks...the bus stopped at FQ first...no big deal.
Overall grade - A
The best lunch / dinners we had were at the following places...
50's PTC, Sci-Fi, The Plaza in MK, Whispering Canyon in WDL, ESPN club at BW and LTT in MK.
Overall grade for these... A
Honorable mention...Hoop De Do Revue. Price was a bit steep...$50 per person. Salad was outstanding...but was looking for a bit more than Ribs and Chicken and sides.
On Friday the 20th..I was the star of the show....I was the angel at the end and it was hillarious.
The following were less than what we expected...
Chef Mickeys...unless you have kids ( we dont ) I would not go there anymore..and we have made that a "first Sunday tradition" of our trip since 98. The food was horrible and the service was just as bad. The price increased to $26 pp.
However...if you have kids..that is the best place for pictures and autographs. BUT..the characters seemed in such a hurry.
Boatwrights...dinner was below average and breakfast was above average.
Overall grade - D
Bob Jackson was outstanding as usual. On the 13th everything was closed and on the 14th his replacement was entertaining. He was just not the same.
As far as the mugs go......POR has now ONLY purple mugs. no more green mugs. HOWEVER..we had one green mug with us and it was NOT an issue. In fact, my green mug had a broken handle and the CM said to get a new one for free. Which I did.
Printed on the new purple mugs is "free refills for the length or your stay" and there is now a statement on the pop machines mentioning this.
There is no way old mugs are going to be stopped from being used. Its not going to happen.
Lines in the food court were brutal in the PEAK morning hours. I say from 8:30 am to about 10 am. Lines were about 15 minutes long.
Any questions....fire away.
I am still double digit dancing...93 days and counting until our Thanksgiving trip.
