Just back... EVERYTHING WORKS

The OP from back in May is going again and posted looking for updated thoughts/opinions regarding FP+, because they are heading back. Is that zombie?

Su....Su.....Suvadoo, what gives? Sure, you didn't notice the dates were different and comparisons for different dates can be hard to make. That happens.

However, what's the deal linking a post from this morning and saying its a 'different experience' from the positive FP+ experience the OP had in May? The post this morning didn't say ANYTHING about FP+. Not about making/using reservations. Not about making additional FP+ selections. Not about using the App. Not about MagicBands.

The poster in the thread you linked complained about crowds and South American tour groups (nothing to do with FP+), 60 minute lines for headliners and 10 minute lines for Small World in a crowded park (nothing to do with FP+, lines were like that under FP- in a crowded park), broken down rides (nothing to do with FP+), and service dogs (nothing to do with FP+).

So, why take someone's negative experience caused by tour groups, ride maintenance, and dogs and use it as a means to tell the OP that other people are having less than positive experiences with FP+? Sure, I get that you may want to highlight the negative side of FP+, to do the OP a solid by warning him of the potential problems. Really though, in providing that valuable service to the OP at least find a better thread to link!!!

I'm glad you had such a great trip and experience with fp+. Like you, we had no technical issues on our trip, and we loved the magic bands! We did not have the same fp+ availability/flexibility you had n changing times and booking more fp+, though. Had we experienced what you did, I'm quite sure we would have changed our minds about fp+ :)

To answer the OPs question, I don't think much has changed since May. Since May I have had two positive experiences with FP+ very similar to what you experienced in May. Once in July, and again from Dec 27 to Jan 2. No issues with FP+....getting what we wanted, changing times, getting additional FP+ (not that we did it a lot). Our MBs worked great in July, had to hit the front desk a couple of times to get my daughter's MB to open room doors in Dec. App was a little glitcher in Dec than July, but still did what we needed it to do.

So, there are still people out there having very positive experiences with FP+. Yes, as I suspect Su....Su.....Suvadoo was trying to do for you, you should be cautioned that there are people out there having negative FP+ issues, as I'm sure there were in May. Some people have technical issues, some people can't secure the FP+ they want for whatever reasons, some SB lines are a little linger than they used to be because of FP+, and some people just don't like FP+ because it doesn't fit their touring style. You should be aware of that, because you never know if any of those things could impact your trip in March.

While the debate over the pros and cons of FP+ still rages, as you know how to use the system and FP+ suited you in May, I suspect you will have another positive experience come March. Just beware of tour groups and counterfeit service dogs!

The post does reference FP+ making the SB lines longer. Stop with the Su Su, that's not my name and you know it. Please don't respond to me with some clever retort, just stop it. The only person who finds this amusing is you.

What kind of things utilize the APP? I don't have a smart phone, but I do have an IPOD. can I use that?

I am renting an iPhone for my trip. It is $10 for an iPhone 4s and then $50 for the data plan for the month. I go next week, I figure cell service would be more reliable then in park wifi.

Sorry to tell you that I switched back and forth daily at multiple times,
and the app (and site) were still maddeningly slow and glitchy.

Very disappointing on either cell data or Disney wi-fi.

BTW, this was just two weeks ago.

So, the poster this morning erroneously/inappropriately attributes whopping 60 minute lines for headliners and 10 minute lines for Small World and Living with the Land to FP+ and you are all over it. I get it ;).

Sure, like nobody ever saw a 60 minute headliner SB or 10 minute SBs at SW and Land under FP- when the parks were crowded.

The wifi wasn't great when we were there after Christmas. Had better luck on cell data.

I actually found the park wifi to work as good or better than my carrier data connection (TMO 4G) most times. It was the MDE app itself that wasn't as reliable once in the parks.

Glad that you did.

My point is that I didn't see an improvement.
(Which was a disappointment, to say the least.)

So, it's not a given.

The point being, that someone can post that they had an excellent time and everything was perfect for them. But another person can be visiting WDW at the same time and have a totally different experience.
The op referenced POC and said the SB was longer but it was a people eater, but the poster I referenced had a totally different experience due to ride break downs. People can visit WDW at the same time and have totally different experiences.

You're a great one for accusing people of hyperbole, but evidently it only applies to posters with negative experiences. Th OP's original title for this thread is "ust Back and Everything Works." Wouldn't it be more accurate to say :Just back and everything worked for []me[/B]?
I don't think it worked as well for the pp who was stuck visiting guest services daily to get paper FP's because her MDE account was screwed up. I also don't think it worked as well for the poster from the other thread.

Has anyone compared FP availability to where a person is staying?? Just curious??

......and this situation never existed under FP-?

S...Suvadoo, I appreciate your 'glass is half empty' contribution to the discussion. Gotta keep it real, I get it. You just gotta find a better negative counterpoint thread to link. The one you chose made you look.....desperate, IMHO. Your valid points deserve better than that.

Gee, I don't recall ever having to go to guest services because my magic band didn't work and I couldn't use my FP's. I also don't remember being in a SB line for POC while groups of people went ahead of me. I also don't remember standing in line for People Mover.
So actually no, these things did not happen with Legacy.

Well, golly gee, I guess you were just lucky you never had to go to a front desk, guest services or a CM because you Key To The Kingdom didn't open your door, or work at the turnstile, or get a FP- machine to spit out a ticket. I did, many times......in fact many more times than I've had MB problems so far! Yes I had personally waited in line for TTA prior to the FP+ apocalypse. I never had groups go ahead of me on PotC, no. Guess what, I don't now, yet I still ride!!!!

So, actually.......yes, those things DID happen under Legacy.
