We just returned last night from a five day trip to Orlando. The weather was pretty lousy (torrential rain on Friday, overcast, misting or just plain cold the rest of the time) but we still had a fabulous time. Stayed at YC (my husband was actually on a business trip so the room was free
. DH, DD8 and DS10
We were quite pleased with our dining choices and all thought that the food was particularly good this time. Still think it's quite pricey and wonder how many people actually swing these trips...but you always have fun at Disney.
So here are some reviews:
Flying Fish - for dinner during the Home Builders Convention so there were many tables of builders and the joint was hopping. Loved the atmosphere. Kids loved the blue Sprite. Food was really tasty (DH had snapper and I had Mahi Mahi). Waitress was lovely. Quite noisy (definitely not a place for a romantic, quiet evening). All in all a great choice for our first night.
Crystal Palace for lunch - DD LOVES Pooh and friends so we booked this for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised about how tasty the food was (great salmon in a molasses sauce) and the great choices. Kids loved the mac and cheese and the soft serve ice cream. Character interaction was well-orchestrated and DD loved it.
Teppanyaki for dinner - GREAT CHOICE! My DH has been wanting us to do this around home for years thinking the kids would like it. So I arranged for a pre-Illuminations dinner time and we had a blast. Sat with a nice family from NJ. Food was tasty and even felt somewhat healthy (no sauces, etc.).
San Angel Inn for lunch - wanted to eat indoors due to the cold so we made a last minute reservation while in Epcot. Pleasantly surprised. Good Tex Mex menu and the setting is lovely (although so dark it was hard to read the menu!). Had never been into Mexico so that was treat.
Rainforest Cafe for lunch - our morning at Animal Kingdom was lots of fun but very cold and damp. So we really wanted to eat indoors. Chose Rainforest Cafe and sat at the bar (long wait for a table and we couldn't get a last-minute PS). Good salads and a good burger.
Ate all of our breakfasts at the YC little bar area (muffins are delicious and cereals and croissants did the trick for our family). Also ate at Kennedy Space Center and Sea World (Shark restaurant--very good).
All in all, we were in impressed with our meals and enjoyed the atmospheres.
