Heya guys!
As promised, a quick trippie
We were in DLP Thursday through to Monday - four nights at Newport Bay. It was perfection (well, sorta!).
Pro's:
* GETTING ENGAGED! Oh my gosh, I didn't suspect anything at all. It was a total surprise. I've wanted to stay at NPB for years, but the timing hasn't ever been quite right - this made it perfect!
* My birthday - having a birthday whilst at Disney is always special, but the character interaction was so fun (the parades were amazing!) and everyone was extra lovely.
* NPB - amazing. I was genuinely blown away. Our room was spectacular, aside from a slightly leaky shower head, I can't complain about anything. Even breakfast (which we all know can feel a little bit like feeding time at the zoo!) was relaxed, professional and lovely.
* Crowds - aside from the Saturday, were pretty good! Certainly manageable.
* Character interaction - fab! My 17 year old is only ever a little kid these days when she's in front of Pooh Bear. Her reaction and theirs to her, was incredible.
* Cafe Mickey. I don't even know where to start. The staff were breath taking. Five years ago, I had the most horrible experience at CM - I wouldn't have gone back if you'd have paid me. But this time? I was blown away. We had the most amazing waiter (I really wish I could remember his name), he was prefect and so lovely and attentive. He found out that not only was it my birthday but that we'd just gotten engaged, and he was so lovely and genuinely happy for us. When my birthday cake was brought out (I'll attach a pic of that, because it was AMAZING!) all of the staff came out - my table was surrounded by not only characters, but I kid you not like 10 staff members! Everyone blew my expectations out of the water. And, the food was great too!
* Annual Passes - we've been on the fence for a couple of years about AP's but I'm so glad we did it. The discounts (even though they're small) really do add up.
* Photopass - we paid €45 for the annual photopass and i'm so impressed. We'll be going back so much, and we usually buy loads of ride photos, it will save us a fortune. I especially love how easy it is to download photos to the app!
Con's:
* NPB - my one and probably only criticism of NPB is the pool. I was pretty excited about having some form of facility which included a spa, but the staff definitely made it slightly less enjoyable. There was one particular CM based at the pool who was incredibly rude to everyone, and generally poor at his job. Heavily pregnant women in the spa, letting people use non-water proof electronics (not even joking) in both the pool and the spa, running, diving, adults clearly intoxicated jumping onto little kids in the pool. It was just a bit of a poo show and definitely left us not wanting to go back to the pool.
* No Big Thunder Mountain, and generally the renovations and maintenance. I didn't realise how much I would miss BTM and the railroad being out of service.
* The weather
Not exactly Disney's doing this one eh? But oh my gosh. We go regularly in January - it's my favourite time of the year to go. But we were drenched. Saturday was the worst by far - torrential rain, gale and huge crowds so it wasn't like you could find anywhere inside to hide from the rain because it was so packed.
Massive love to you all!
