Got back last night from a great trip 'home' to Beach Club Villas, arrived on Mon 4/10. DH and I took my sister and her family to WDW for their first time. On check-in at 3:30, 2 BR dedicated villa was not ready, so we hung around til 4:00 and were able to check in. Front desk CM said the Villas are "98% booked year around". Requested Epcot view, because nephew is afraid of very loud noises (fireworks), so thought it would be neat if he could at least see them from the room, as we have done several times. Not possible, we were told, and given a Woods view. If ever given a choice again, I wouldn't want it, but life goes on and didn't care to make an issue of it.
My only issue with BCV after approx. 6 stays there is the heating/cooling unit that CANNOT be turned off. Every time I stay there I come home with a horrible cold and this time was no exception. That #$@*(!$% unit runs continuously. If anyone has figured out a way to deal with it, let me know!
As usual, Beaches & Cream was great. Had breakfast at Cindy's, good food and princess interaction. Did the Brown Derby Fantasmic dinner package, which was also very good. And the Grand Gatherings Magical Fireworks cruise, which we greatly enjoyed. Bought my first AP using the DVC discount. The AP didn't work at all in the Fast Pass machines, and was reissued at the park gates 4 times. It was a little frustrating. I had to carry my photo ID with me everywhere, because the AP didn't work. Someone said it had probably demagnetized, but Guest Relations checked and said that wasn't the problem.
All in all, however, it was a magical week. Seeing WDW with my niece (9) and nephew (6) was so much fun. Edited to add: The CMs this week truly did a fantastic job adding to the magic. It was my nephew's 6th birthday and we got him the bday pins at each of the parks we visited that day. All the CMs wished him a happy birthday. He also was chosen to participate in Fest. of the Lion King. He kept saying "this place is so magical!"
I couldn't agree more. So THANK YOU CMs for keeping the magic alive!
Crowds weren't too bad, although we left the parks after lunch every day for a break, and then returned in the evening. If anyone has any questions, I'll do my best to try to answer.
