I can't have dairy and I am soy intolerant so I never, ever, ever can walk into a bakery and order something. Babycakes was a dream come true. I could have everything! I went twice, at two different times of the day.

We literally went right to DTD on arrival day and had a quick dinner from Fresh Appeal (YUM!!!). Then I ordered 6 cupcakes and 2 donuts. There were about 6 different cupcake choices and cookies and brownies and donuts as well and I had to wait in line before I could order.

We got the chocolate brownie cupcake with vanilla frosting (3 of them), a blondie and a red velvet and a chocolate. The choclate brownie is amazing. I literally could not believe I was eating a gluten free/dairy free/soy free/egg free cupcake. It was so rich and delicious. My picky boys gobbled them up and loved them.

I ended up putting the other 3 cupcakes into the fridge and then the freezer to keep them fresh during the week. I just put them on the counter and let them come to room temperature and they were still great. The red velvet and blondie were also really good, but the regular chocolate was just o.k. I'm not sure why but I wouldn't opt for it over other flavors.

I also got 2 donuts. A vanilla crunch and a chocolate crunch. They tasted like the cupcakes and were so sweet and delicious. I haven't had a donut in 20 years so this was a huge treat. I kept these in the fridge and nibbled on them for a few days and they were still good.

I made sure we stopped by there on departure day and I got 3 cupcakes. I carried two home very gingerly on the plane and they made it! This time I got the chocolate brownie cupcake, and a pumpkin and carrot cake cupcake. I didn't love the pumpkin or carrot. They were a bit dry and the pumpkin was a bit clovey.

But the chocolate brownie. Oh my. That cupcake is amazing. AMAZING. I recommend the blondie and the chocolate brownie cupcakes.

They don't taste at all "healthy" so don't worry about that allergy friends. You will feel like you're eating a decadent baked good. I was beyond giddy that anything in the entire case was mine for the taking. ANYTHING.

When I went on departure day I was there about 11:00am and there were alot more donuts but less cupcakes and cookies. They bake throughout the day to keep up with traffic flow so things are staggered. Everything isn't mass produced in the morning and then put out all day. It is all very fresh and my chocolate brownie cupcake was frosted while I waited. Even the frosting is made in small batches.

I told them at Babycakes it was a good thing theyaren't in my state. I would have a serious cupcake habit if they did. mmmmm....cupcakes.

How great you were able to walk into a bakery and enjoy some treats!!! And that you were able to have a doughnut after 20 years! :yay: I love places that cater to allergies, especially when they do so with great products for everyone! Thanks for sharing your experience, I'd definitely love to try it there! :goodvibes

My gluten/casein free son will be in his glory! I knew this was coming though. My friends cousin owns/operates the store! Can't wait to check it out

thanks for the report! I'm not even gluten intolerant (just a bit of a health freak) and I'm so looking forward to Babycakes!

Thanks so much for the review...I didn't know this place existed...my Daughter has a severe milk allergy and this will be her dream come true...(really my dream come true since she will eat anything and just suffer the consequences later which means I usually have to clean up that mess...party: )

I'm so insanely excited for this!!! How much were the cupcakes? Is it around $4 each? I need to budget and you better believe after not having cupcakes for YEARS, it will be my first stop after dinner on our first night in September!!! :cool1:

I'm drooling just typing this. :rolleyes1

Ooooh! One of my friends had a baby recently & she has had to avoid eggs, dairy, soy and just about everything else under the sun...

What was the bext few items 'a couple days after' so I could bring her home a snack or two? Poor momma has been eating nothing she enjoys. She's happy to do it for the baby but I know she'd love some indulgences too!

I found the chocolate brownie and the blondie cupcake the best after a few days. I popped them in the fridge the night I got them and then put them in individual ziploc baggies to keep them from drying out. Then let them get to room temperature and mmmmmmm.........

Very excited. I love brownies and cupcakes and donuts. I am lactose intolerant. It's not as hard for me to find desserts that I can eat, than it would be if I had an allergy, but I am still very excited to be able to walk into a bakery and (like you said) know that anything in the case is safe to eat. :thumbsup2
