Just back, anyone there see the blind lady in the parks?

Wow! This is such a wonderful post! Thank You Stacilee for starting it and Thank You Kitty for introducing yourself to us. It is so inspirational and wonderful. God bless you in your future operations  It is so nice to read about wonderfully caring people :)

You will be in our thoughts and prayers throughout the surgery and recovery!!!!!:teeth:

MSDISNEY/KITTY - THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR STORY! YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION! I WILL BE SAYING A PRAYER FOR YOU AS YOU FACE THE NEXT FEW MONTHS!

Stacilee - Your posts was a great reminder to not sit on the sidelines of life!

Tears here too.

SORRY GANG,
I WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR STARTING THIS THREAD.
KITTY WAS.
I THINK SHE WAS *TESTING THE WATERS* IN PREPARATION FOR HER ANNOUNCEMENT.

I MERELY STUMBLED UPON IT AND WAS COMPELLED TO POST!

MY MOM WAS AFRAID TO LEARN TO USE ANY OF THE TECH TOOLS AVAILABLE THESE DAYS THAT WOULD HAVE MADE HER LIFE MORE ENJOYABLE.

CONSEQUENTLY, HER LIFE GOT DARKER AND DARKER (BOTH LITERALLY AND METAPHORICALLY). SHE FORGOT HOW MUCH JOY THEIR WAS IN LIFE.

NO MATTER HOW MUCH JOY I TRIED TO *INFUSE* INTO HER, SHE REFUSED TO EVEN TRY TO BE HAPPY.

I AM HAPPY FOR KITTY AND THRILLED THAT SHE WORKS WITH OTHERS IN SIMILAR SITUATIONS.

HER POSITIVE OUTLOOK AND CAN-DO ROLE MODELING WILL GO A LONG WAY IN INFLUENCING THE FUTURE QUALITY OF HER YOUNG FRIENDS (AND THEIR FAMILIES) LIVES.

STACILEE

 HI KITTY, WAY TO GO!! WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO SEE WELL BUT WE SURE CAN HEAR AND LIVE LIFE. HOPE ALL GOES WELL FOR YOU ON 6/24. LET'S ALL SAY A PRAYER FOR KITTY:wave2:

Thank you all for your posts.

I have been so wrapped up in planning this trip from the meal voucher debate to the unneeded rush to get MVMCP tickets to dinner reservations to planning every minutes we are there.

I need to pay more attention to the sensations that are overpowered by the sense of sight...

the sound of my daughter gasp the first time she sees her favorite character and is then unable to speak...

the taste of different foods that we don't normally eat...

the feel of the ocean lapping over my feet and the sand giving way underneath...

the smell of the Epcot gardens.

Thank you for refocusing my attention to what is truly important.

MS DISNEY 23 - YOU ROCK! I WISH I HAD BEEN THERE TO DANCE WITH YOU! ONCE I WAS BEHIND A BOAT ON THE MEXICO RIDE THAT A COUPLE, ONE BLIND, AND THEIR COMPANION DOG WERE ON. THE DOG JUST LAID ON THE BACK OF THE BOAT. I REMEMBER TALKING TO MY KIDS ABOUT IT, IT WAS REALLY COOL! I BET THAT SONG WILL BE RUNNING THROUGH THEIR HEADS FOR A LONG TIME! LOL IT'S GREAT THAT YOUR ARE REACHING OUT TO OTHERS TOO, YOU'RE QUITE AN INSPIRATION! PRAYING THAT YOUR SURGERY IS A HUGE SUCCESS!

STACILEE - I SHOULD SEND YOUR POST TO MY MOM, SHE HAD A HEART ATTACK OVER 20YRS AGO AND PRETTY MUCH STOPPED LIVING HER LIFE THEN. I LOVE HER, BUT I'M NOT FOLLOWING IN HER FOOTSTEPS EITHER.

What inspirational stories! Thank you both for sharing them.

I agree with others. I often found myself getting too wrapped up in rushing around when we visited this past April. This post was nice to remind us that we all need to take time to live in the moment. A little story to share...

The day that we visited AK during our trip, we rushed to get in line to get Perla's autograph (Cinderella's mouse). As we were waiting, the CM announced only 5 more minutes... I saw a woman with a little girl go up to the CM and the CM let the little girl "cut" in line. My first reaction was one of irritation. Then I saw the little girl had a Make-a-Wish pin on. WOW! What a way to put things into perspective!

I have a wonderful healthy daughter & we were in Disney!!!

NOT YELLING EITHER....

OKAY... NOT FAIR... I'M SITTING HERE WITH TEARS STREAMING DOWN MY CHEEKS - FOLLOWED CLOSELY BY MY MASCARA - NOT TO MENTION THE GOOSEBUMPS ON TOP OF GOOSEBUMPS!!

MISS KITTY - WAY TO GO! PRAYERS AND PIXIE DUST HEADED YOUR WAY FOR YOUR SURGERY AND RECOVERY....

TO ALL THE POSTERS - WHAT A WAY WITH WORDS YOU ALL HAVE - THIS HAS GOT TO BE MY FAVORITE POST OF ALL TIME. THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING YOURSELVES.

I TOO WILL SLOW DOWN AND CELEBRATE BEING AT WDW - IF IT ALL DOESN'T GET DONE, SO WHAT!! WE'LL BE BACK!

THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!

WHAT A WONDERFUL THREAD! IT MAKES ME STOP AND REALIZE THE THINGS I TAKE FOR GRANTED. ON MY NEXT TRIP, I WILL BE LOOKING AT THINGS IN A WHOLE NEW "LIGHT". THANKS FOR A WONDERFULLY INSPIRATING THREAD.

CINDY :flower1:

Kitty,

Thank you for sharing your experience of Disneyworld with us.

My 28 month old was just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in March and it has been a very difficult and emotional time for us. I must say the thought of him some day losing his eye sight is ... very frightening. I'm so sorry that diabetes has taken away most of your sight but I will send many positive vibes your way for the upcoming surgery.

I hope my son can meet you some day - what an inspiration!

God Bless you Kitty for being so brave and for sharing with us! You're story and the post from stacilee brought tears to my eyes. Oh we take soooo many things forgranted. This definately helps to put things in perspective for me.

I'll say a prayer for you on 6-24-04. I'll remember too because that's my birthday!

Hugs....

I MUST SAY THAT THIS IS THE BEST THREAD THAT I HAVE COME ACROSS SO FAR. IT WAS BOTH INSPIRATIONAL AND INSIGHTFUL. THANK YOU TO KITTY AND STACILEE FOR SHARING THEIR STORIES. BEST WISHES TO YOU KITTY WITH YOUR SURGERIES!!!
I TRULY HOPE THAT EVERYTHING WORKS OUT FOR YOU.:cheer2:

My cousin is blind and we are going to Disney this October for MNSSHP. I've been to Disney twice with her. Being blind doesn't stop her from having fun. She isn't the one who was spotted dancing, but if you see a little blind dark haired girl dancing at MNSSHP this Halloween it could be her.
