Was there from 5-20 to 5-24, was wondering if anyone saw a blind lady walking in the parks, even dancing with her cane!

Missed her only because I wasn't there but think seriously if I HAD been there and SEEN her ( oh my gosh, absolutely no pun intended!) I would have had to run over, introduce myself, and hug and kiss her. If she would have let me, of course! Personal space and all that to be considered. :love2:

I would have gladly told her anything she wanted to know, taken her anywhere she wanted to go or just stood there, for crying out loud with my eyes slammed shut and my mouth likewise and shared in her experience of LISTENING TO DISNEY , and smelling it, and FEELING it with her - Holding Hands!

I would have had her feel how beautiful my children are.

Others who have read my posts know that I am a STOPPER. A clogger of paths, an impediment to traffic, a speedbump for strollers, a .... you all get the idea. I like to stop and smell the roses. Oh my gosh, that is where I would have taken her, to the rose garden.
Explaination for all this excitement:
My mother was blind.
My mother was blind and afraid.
She tried to raise us all to be cowards too.
My MOM MISSED OUT ON SO MUCH LIVING!
Her favorite sentence was "you know, I can't see."
I wish it had been "You know, I love you."
Gosh knows I KNEW she was BLIND, she only told me like 50 million times. She said I love you sometimes too, only just as an afterthought, much much less as she got older.
She wouldn't have gone to WDW if Walt himself came back from the grave and invited to walk her on his arm!

I wish I could have seen that lady. I am so proud to hear how damn brave she was. You know what? I would have gotten IN LINE to ask her for HER autograph!!!!

WAY TO GO WOMAN!!!!! :thewave::thewave:

If anybody here winds up being friends with her please promise you will pass on my admiration & congratulations!

Doggone it, I am so sorry to have missed that.
Thanks for telling us though. What a great thing to think about tonight when I am falling asleep:wave2:

Wow stacilee - that's the best post I've ever read here ::yes::

There was a blind or visually impaired college student in the WDW CP this past semester. I saw her walking her guide dog when my DD was moving into her apartment. I do not know where she worked while in the program. My DD did not meet her while she was there. There will be many blind and visually impaired in Orlando in the middle of July. AER is having their biannual international convention at one of the DTD hotels. AER is the organization that professionals who work with visually impaired join. We have many blind and visually impaired members also.

That was nice, stacilee. And here I thought the thread title was the led in for a joke. Sorry, but I did....

stacilee, that was really touching; thank you.
Your wise words apply to any "disability" or fear that any one of us might have, not just blindness. Thanks for encouraging us to seize the day regardless of our so-called limitations!

I didn't see one dancing with her cane, but I did see one eating with friends or family at the Plaza Restaurant with her beautiful white guide dog. Kudos to her for coming to the happiest place on earth and hopefully having a great time!

When Ds and I where at WDW in Sept. of 2003 we where waiting for my son to get his picture taken with Mickey and Goofy in space suits at Epcot, when the family in front of us had 2 young children with them. I noticed that one child was touching Mickey and then the mother said something to the CM with Mickey and Goofy, The CM then whispered to Mickey and Goofy and they booth bent over so this child could touch there faces. Boy if you could see that smile on that childs face he looked so happy it brought a tear to my eyes wish I took a picture it was so touching. You could tell even being blind this child was having the time of his life.

My seniors just got back from their class trip to WDW. They were taken aback by a blind woman entering "Honey I Shrunk the Audience". A 3-D show. Probably the same woman.

Thanks for sharing that magical moment with us. That brought a tear to my eye and made me realize once again why WDW, even with its flaws is still "The happiest place on Earth" as Walt wanted it to be.

What a special moment for that child!!

OK FORGIVE ME I AM NOT YELLING, I AM THE BLIND (VISUALLY IMPAIRED NOW) LADY! I LOST MY EYE SIGHT COMPLETELY FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS FROM DIABETIES, I HAVE UNGONE OVER 30 MAJOR OPERATIONS, WITH TWO MORE COMING UP. THE BEST NEWS IS, THEY SAID I WOULD NEVER SEE AGAIN. I AM PROGECTED TO SEE 20/20 IN THE LEFT EYE AND 20/30 IN THE RIGHT EYE AFTER THESE OTHER OPERATIONS. FIRST ONE IS SCHEDULED FOR 6-24-04. PRAYERS PLEASE! I WAS THE ONE AT HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS ON FRIDAY MAY 21, I DO REMEMBER THE SHCOOL CHILDREN, THEY WHERE VERY SWEET AND KIND. I DID HAVE SOME RUN ME OVER IN THE PARKS. WHAT IS A PERSON TO DO.

THIS WAS SECOND TIME TO VISIT WDW WITH LITTLE EYE SIGHT, I MUST SAY IT IS VERY HARD, AT TIMES, DURING THE NIGHT I HAVE NO VISION AT ALL. I JUST WANTED EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT I HAD THE COURAGE TO GO AND HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE. I AM PLANNING ANOTHER TRIP THERE AND I HOPE WITH MUCH BETTER VISION!

YES, I WAS DANCING ON THE BOARD WALK AND PEOPLE JUST JOINED IN, I TOLD THEM THAT STEVIE WONDER LIKE TO DANCE TOO! I HAD A BALL. I EVEN CRIED WHEN I WAS AT THE CASTLE TO SEE WISHES! I WAS ABLE TO SEE SOME OF IT! I AM SO BLESSED WITH A WONDERFUL FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND ALL OF YOU HERE AT THE DIS. I HAVE KEPT THIS SECRET FROM ALL OF YOU FOR SOME TIME.

ALL MY LOVE, KITTY :D

Kitty, were you the one with the dog, too?

NO DOG, I AM DETERMINED TO SEE AGAIN! GOD HAS BLESSED ME. THE THING IS, I LIVED MY WHOLE LIFE BLIND! I NOW SEE WHAT I SHOULD HAVE ALL ALONG!

I NOW DONATE MY TIME TO WORKING WITH YOUNG CHILDREN NEWLY DIAGNOSED WITH DIABETIES AND THEIR FAMILIES.

I MUST ALSO SAY THAT DISNEY WAS OUTSTANDING IN HELPING ME WITH MY DISABILITY. I WAS ABLE TO BE SEATED UP FRONT AT DIFFERENT SHOWS ETC. I CAN NOT SAY ONE THING BAD ABOUT THEIR CONCERN FOR MY COMFORT!

Well, darn, I was hoping I had had a brief brush of time with you! I'm sorry that I missed you. I'm so glad to hear that sight is in your near future! I'm sure you can't wait. WDW will be a completely different place for you when you can see all the beautiful colors and lights.

I hope now that your "secret" is out, you'll keep us updated on your surgery and progress. :Pinkbounc

* I AM EDITING MY POST TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR KITTY (MSDISNEY 23) TO READ IT. OBVIOUSLY, I AM NOT YELLING EITHER! I HOPE I AM DOING IT RIGHT, I'VE NEVER TRIED THIS BEFORE. BEAR WITH ME, PLEASE.

DEAR KITTY,

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ADMISSION! I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!

ON BEHALF OF MYSELF AND MY FAMILY

Wow- MsDisney23
You are a brave women and should hold your head high. I will also be praying for you during your surgery.

Stacilee-
As a mom of 5, your words really puts things into perspective. Your post was the most emotional I've ever read.

With tears in my eyes...

Wishing both of you the most magical life ahead.
