We arrived Sat. the 23rd at CBR. We went to the parks everyday, leaving on the 27th. My hubby and I are both nurses and noticed that so many people seemed to be sick. Many were coughing, sneezing, and looked just SICK.
Well, sure enough...I got sick. We left and came home early. Still feel bad, but just wondering if anyone else got sick down there. We are very carefull about washing our hands and using purell. We also took vitamins.

yup, got back on Tuesday and both my DF and I are sick, cold of some sort. Kind of just feel tired and lethargic...and yes, I wash my hands constantly too.

Yep, my son got sick mid-week, then I came down with it on our last night. That was a week ago, and I'm still not 100%. My wife ended up getting it this week. First time I've ever gotten sick at WDW. It sucks!

I am sorry. This is been really bad from throwing up...no less tha 14 times one morning, to the standard upper and lower resp. problems. my chest hurts and I can hear the 'rattle' when I breath.

I don't think this is anything unusual, it's inevitable that some people will catch something when you're in a crowded theme park or airport or any other public place with many thousands of other people.

BTW, Purell and the other antibacterial gels will do absolutely nothing to protect you from a viral infection like a cold or the flu or 'stomach bug'. Most of the common communicable illnesses people come down with are viral, not bacterial. You'll get much better results with frequent handwashing with plain old soap and water.

Haven't been to WDW recently, but both of my ds' had that last week, and it's miserable. It went around older ds' school around the same time. I hope you're better soon!

We thought oldest DS got sick two days after we got back. But I believe his was sinuses, the meds seem to help it alot.

Dh and I just got back a few days and had to go to the doctor and get treatment for upper respiratory issues. I know that my condition was partially aggravated by smokers outside of the designated spots and one who decided to smoke right outside our door at Pop Century (non-smoking room section). My in-laws are still down there---no symptoms for them yet.

I live in Orlando. I caught some type of upper respiratory thing that turned into bronchitis. Even after finishing an antibiotic, I don't feel great.

I just found out that DD, who is away at college in Tallahassee, has a virus that is hitting the campus hard. It consists of a headache, sore throat, fever, upset stomach and cough. The campus clinic told other students that the virus lasts about ten days.

There are just a lot of things going around and the flu season isn't even upon us yet.

I hope you feel better soon!

Sorry you have gotten sick. :( We live in Southeast Alabama so beware even though the flu season isn't suppose to be here yet, it seems to be lurking around. We had about 15 or 20 out of our elementary school this week. They have all been diagnosed with the flu. The doctors offices say that it is starting earlier this year. They also said that since it has arrived earlier than usually, they are hoping it will be a short season. I hope they are right because we leave January 1 for seven days at Disney. Our first trip to Disney in 13 years and our DS12 and DS 6 first ever. :cool1:

At work here in Northern VA, we got the galloping croup going around as I call it. It does have the fever, etc... but I didn't get close enough to the SICKO that came in to find out if he had the other symptoms. OK, I did call him on the phone from a few desks away and told him I hoped he'd feel better soon. :teeth:

Others are sick too and lots of kids. Hope I manage to avoid it and hope you all begin to feel better soon!!!

from what i can tell it's from people going from the hot sweaty outside to the blizzard cold indors there and for people who aren't use to it get colds because of it.

We have bad colds going around here in TN. We are going from 90's to 40's within a day and they have no heat on at campus and it's just bad allergy wise. There have been reports of strep but no flu yet.

I have a friend who is an MD. He claims that the American "germ fetish" is making us sicker.

He has patients who spend half thier time disinfecting EVERYTHING they come in contact with, guess which ones get sickest when exposed to a new environment? Thier immune system actually has less resistance then people who excerise basic caution according to him. So when they go on a cruise, vacation etc he knows they will be in his office with a major illness later.

i am so sorry you got sick! but up here in northern va there is something going around because 5 of my friends are sick. 1 has mnemunia, 2 have colds, and 2 have the flu. so north va is getting poured with rain and sickness.

Hey "disdance69" -- I'm from Northern VA too! HELLO!

I noted earlier that there is sickness going on here in VA/MD/DC area. Hard to avoid since this is end-of-fiscal-year and alot of gov't workers working late and getting run down ... but I am trying to avoid it!

The weather is funky here (hot, cold, cool, warm buildings, cold buildings, etc...) so that probably contributes too. At WDW, you are around so many people -- crowds like to share :teeth:

Hope all get back feeling well and hope I am not sick in 5 1/2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!! Cause my mini-vacation is coming soon!!!

So true!!! We are so obsessed with being germ free that we don't get to build up any imunities any more. I have a friend who was telling me the other day that when her family eats out, she makes everyone use Purell after touching the menus!!!! Yep, that's right. She says that there are so many people with bad 'bathroom habits' that you just don't know who/what has touched those menus before you. Just a bit over the top in my opinion.

I do carry Purell with me when I travel. My rules are this.....Purell every hour or so, those attractions railings are probably not the most germ free thing you can touch....hand washing after every restroom visit (naturally!!), no touching your eyes, nose, mouth unless you have just washed your hands. That's the one the gets me....if you touch all those railings, and then rub your eyes, well, you've just put who knows how many germs into your system.

We've stopped using the air on planes because it's just recirculating all the germy air. I've also used Airborne a few times (those tabs you put in water and they dissolve like alka-seltzer) and it seemed to help...although it could be psychosomatic too ;)

 Awwww...I am so sorry to hear this. I was hoping that you would have a much more magical stay. Sounds like you brought home a nasty souvenier.

I hope that you feel better real soon! Maggie

I was coming down with a cold on the 20th, started using one of those over the counter nasal sprays to shorten a cold. Felt great by the 24th! No other colds here...had a fabulous time!
