I was there last Friday-Monday morning. Anyone have any questions? I went to MK, Epcot, MGM, PI and stayed at Pop Century. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have. :)

The most important question of all!
Did you have fun?!?!

Second most important question:
How were the crowds?

Crowds -

A lot of people there but not anything too bad as far as lines. We honestly did not have any waits because we used FP and if we saw a non FP thing with a huge line, we left, went back to it a few hours later and walked on. I think our longest line without a FP was maybe 10 minutes or so for Thunder Mountain and for ToT.

Heat -on the 1-10 scale...maybe a 7.5. It was not as bad as I thought it would be. It was probably in the upper 80's most days, though Friday afternoon it rained and that cooled things off a bit. It's hot but not unbearably so. Saturday and Sunday were comfortable.

And yes I had a fantastic time!!

I will be a resort guest in November, but the last time I visited they were called E-nights and you had to pay extra to get into the park on a late night.

Do you still have to pay for the evening extra hours, but the morning ones are automatically a part of your resort perks?

I'm confused. Please explain.

Thanks!

EMH's are free to all resort guests. They vary from month to month I think so I'm not sure which park will be when. The mornings are usually one hour prior to opening to everyone, and the evenings are usually 3 hours after normal park closing. For the mornings, you just show up and show your room key. For evenings, usually about 2 hours prior to closing, they just start handing out wristbands. You go up to the designated CMs and show your room key and get a wristband. I think if you show up after normal closing time, you just show your room key at the gate to get a wristband, but I'm not sure since I've never done thing. After park closing, they check wristbands to ride the rides. It's all free to park guests.

Thanks for the clarification! When we went in 2003 you had to pay something like $12 or $13 extra to get the E-Ride nights, which is the equivalent of Extra Magic Hours. We were resort guests then, too.

It's nice to know that we can sqeak in a few extra hours if we need to. We'll only be on Disney property 4 days, so we need to make the most of it.

We (2 adults, neither of whom like to rush around much) were there Friday in the parks from 11:30 AM-11 PM at MK (we did not stay for all of EMH, just too tired), Saturday at Epcot from about 11 AM - 9:00 PM and Sunday at MGM from about noon- midnight.

At MK, we did all the major attractions, some of them twice. We missed Stitch, Buzz & Peter Pan, but only because we opted to do Pirates an extra time or two and the HM and Philharmagic a few times instead. We could have stayed in the parks until 1 am. But after being up all day with our flight, we were just too tired.

At Epcot, we did all the rides and many of the shows in the W:S. We did not get to spend as much time in the WS as we would have liked, but we still caught 4 of the shows (5 if you include the German band at the Biergarten where we had dinner). We did not do Test Track because we just don't really enjoy it, and we did not do Mission Space because we had planned to do it later in the evening and by that point, we were just too tired and I was not feeling well. We walked by it and there was maybe a 10 minute wait. We got a private ride on the Maelstrom at 9 pm. No one else rode in our boat and no one was in any of the boats around us. I think we were the last riders of the night. It was great. And we got on Soarin' twice.

At MGM, we did not do as much as at the other parks. But this was mostly by choice. We did do Star Tours and ToT 5 times EACH, Rock and Roller Coaster once, The Little Mermaid show, The Movie Ride, Fantasmic, The Muppets 3 times, Sounds Dangerous (which I wish I hadn't done  ) and a few other things. We could have done more, but we just decided to do favorites repeatedly instead. ;) I also spent a good amount of time (and money  at the Christmas shop here...I think I was there for about 45 minutes)

As I said before, we did not have any long waits for anything. Just use FP whenever possible and don't wait in lines, check back later in the day, and a lot of times, lines are not so bad. It's possible to see a great deal of the parks in a short time. Just don't rush around too much or you'll feel miserable after the second day or so. Stop and rest often, and make sure to duck into
air conditioned places once in a while and drink plenty of water.

Have fun!

Thanks for the info on your MGM night. This is the only EMH evening we are going to try next week, and I was hoping it wouldn't be to crazy.

Thanks - from your "neighbor" in Marblehead!

When you go for the EMH's do you only need to show 1 key? What if you have 3 people in your party? How does that work? Does each person have to show a key? Also, are they doing any new finger scan system?

Which shows did you see at Epcot? I was looking over the list and there is alot of them. Which ones did you think were the best?

Not trying to step on your thread, EsmereldaX, but -

We were at WDW less than 2 weeks ago. At MK and Epcot, we had to show one room key per guest in order to get our wristbands, but they were simply checking the dates. At AK, however, they were using hand-held scanners for the room keys -- I would assume this is to prevent people from simply using one room key and passing it on to other folks. I believe the AK thing was a test run as the CMs weren't that familiar with the system. Personally, it would be great if they had these scanners so that it would prevent folks from cheating the system (and I'm not nearly as much as a stickler for the rules as many DISers are, but it would be nice if it were made impossible for off-site guests to gain acceess to EMHs).

So, in other words, at AK, you would've needed all three room keys. At MK, if you only had one room key for your party, you probably would've had to have waited in line 3 separate times, with each family member going up a different time, and even then, you'd run the risk of the CM wondering why he/she had seen "Jane Smith's" key card three times (and in the process probably being given to him at least one time by a man...could be awkward).

I think all persons have to show a key, although I'm not sure if children are exempt from this. I know my SO and I each had to show a key.

The finger scan system is a pain in the butt. It takes longer to get through the lines now that they scan everyone, but it's not too bad. It probably seems a lot worse at the time because you're excited to get into the parks.

I hope they don't still have standing speakers behind that chair in the AC. Otis nearly blew out my eardrums.

We saw several of the World Showcase Players shows, Fiddler's Joy, The American Adventure, The british invasion (I Think that's what they are called...we just caught the tail end of that), The german dinner show, The Server Amusant (I think that's what it's called).

In the past we have seen the drummers in Japan, MoRoccan (sp?), Off Kilter, the acrobats in China and some sort of Mariachi band in Mexico.

Of those, the best IMO, are The American Adventure (just a really neat show), Off Kilter (celtic rock) , and the World Showcase Players. Catch the WS Players if you can, they are a riot. The server amusant is who we usually call "The chair guy in France". It's a neat show. But really, if you can only catch one or two, make it The American Adventure and the WS Players. Off Kilter only plays a few days a week. The rest, I think , are daily.

Why do you wish you had not gone to the Sounds Dangerous show? I can't decide if I want to go to it or not, so I'd love to hear your review of it.

Thanks!
