Got back yesterday after our 3 week Christmas break.
Had a great time, though the weather was awful! Will do trip reports later, but here is a very quick summary!
Overnight at Le Meridien LGW- Verdict..great! Would do this again. Hotel clean, comfortable, friendly and convieniant...only 5 mins from Gatwick south.
Virgin Atlantic - Verdict...Impressed. I have never been a big fan of VA in the past. Every flight I have taken with them has involved problems. This time they were brilliant. Great staff, super flights and all very professional. Thumbs up. Glad we are booked again for next year (oops, I mean THIS year!!).
US Car Hire...Verdict - Brilliant! Best prices I have found for car rental. No hard sell from Dollar when I handed the voucher over (saw several other people in the line for rental with their vouchers and we were all dealt with quickly with no fuss). Will defintately use again!
Our Villa At Highlands Reserve...Verdict - As expected, lovely! No suprises here as we have used this before. Lots of houses on the complex were nicely decorated for Xmas. We joined in with some festive bows from Wal-Mart!!
Mickeys Very Merry Xmas Party - Verdict- OK, but spoilt by a very cold night. There was debate amongst the guests whether the snow on Main St was real or fake It was cold enough! All the events at the party were repeated during the day over Xmas week, so if you are going to be there for the actual Xmas period, then MVMCP is a bit of a waste of money.
Candlelight Processional - Verdict - Great! Very festive, lots of very talented people. The choir and orchestra were superb. Gary Sinese was guest narrator on our night and was excellent. Would do this again. Enjoyed it more than MVMCP, but the weather was much warmer that night!
Wishes Cruise - Verdict - Cold! Possibly the coldest night in the history of Orlando, and we are out on Seven Seas Lagoon freezing to bits. A long story, but we ended up with a party boat with cake, drinks and balloons - we were all too cold to cut the cake!! Fireworks were cool though!
Dining. Best meals:
Le Cellier, Boma, California Grill and Chef Mickeys. Were disappointed with Ohana and CRT this year. Le Cellier was the best meal I have EVER eaten, from starter to main course!
Crowds - low from the 10th to the 20th. After that MANIC. Due to awful weather on Xmas day we did get quite a bit done at MK, but by noon, it was jammed. We left as the rain came down in torrents. Sea World was the busiest I have ever seen last Weds. AK was full to capacity Tues and Weds. Epcot was the only park that handled the crowds OK last week.
Overall, a great trip, only hampered by the weather which was a nuisance. It was too cold to swim and most park days we needed fleeces. We had about 5 days of warm weather out of 21 . Not sure we would return at Christmas again if we have the choice (we often dont due to DHs work). The plan is to do Oct when the weather is more predictable!
We met up with Miffy2003 (Karen) and family as well as Misspennielane (Anz) and hubby a few times which was great fun. Will tell all in Trip reports!!
