Just back and we're stuffed!!

Sorry about your Alfredo's experience. We ate there for the first time last December and we fell in love with it. The service was excellent and the food too! Maybe we should switch our August ressie to another restaurant?!?

Sounds like you all had a great time (with the exception of Alfredo's). and congrats on your anniversary! We will be eating at CR for the first time in Sept, and I'm torn over the choices listed on Allears. I'm going to share with DD3, who eats light and is not picky. I'm considering (for Appetizers) the salad with the chicken breast add on to give DD, or the lobster soup (I love soup and lobster, what a great combo!), or the shrimp cocktail. I'm sure DD would share any of the above, so since it seems your family has tried all of it, which do you recommend? Are any of the portions small? I love seafood, but I've heard the steak here is incredible. Were your crabcakes anything to write home about, or would you have ordered something different, given the chance? TIA!

I tried the lobster soup and it was delicious. I nice sized bowl too. I would recommend that or the caesar salad. The salad comes uncut though so if you don't feel like cutting up the romaine leaves then go for the soup. The shrimp cocktail was good but not very big. Maybe about 8 or 10 small to medium sized shrimp in a glass. It was good but not sure if it's enough for both of you to share.

I love crabcakes and this was one of the best I've had. It was spicey due to the Chorizo Potato Hash it was served on top of. I think they had some spices in the crabcake itself too. So, it might be a little spicy for a young one.

I hope I helped you out a little bit. Have a great trip.

Thanks for sharing...and so greatful to hear a review of Electric Umbrella. We are considering this for lunch on our Epcot day and we wanted to go somewhere before heading to World Showcase. And, congrats on the anniversary :cool1: :wizard:

I loved reading about your meals. That to me is one of the best things arout disney. We decided to take adv of the free dining and are going back in sept

April 29 continued
Dinner at Raglan Road
This place is beautiful. We were seated in a nice sized booth across from the bar area. For appy's dh and I chose the Crab Me Silly. Very tastey. The pastry on the outside was very flakey and good. The filling had lots of pieces of crab too. We chose the same entree too, the It's Not Bleedin' Chowder. My dh loved this, but I wasn't that impressed. It was good, don't get me wrong, but I think next time I will try the salmon or the steak perhaps. For dessert I had the Bread and Butter Pudding....MMMMMM Good! This was so rich with the butterscotch and vanilla sauces they give you. I would get this again. Dh had the Dunbrody Kiss. I couldn't fit a bite of this one in but he said it was delicious and very rich also. It looked fantastic.
Dd7 and Dd 5 had the fish and chips. They were pretty good and a nice portion too. Dd 9 had the Chicken Stix. She ate everything so it must have been good. They looked good, didn't try it. Kids had vanilla ice cream for dessert and it melted very quick. I think they had it out while waiting for our desserts to be ready. Dh had 2 Guinness Beers here and he was very happy. Overall, a great meal and excellent atmosphere. We will do this one again in Sept.
Our server Joe was very attentive and treated us extremely well. He deserved an extra tip for sure and we did just that.

Lunch at Backlot Express MGM
We love this place. Dh had the Grilled Turkey and Cheese with choc. cake. He said it was the best sandwich he had all week. I had the Chicken Strips which were good but nothing special and the Sugar Free Strawberry Parfait. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have the choc. mousse I had there in July because that was sooooo good, but this dessert was equally delicious. Dd's all had chicken nuggets and choc. cake.

We were supposed to go to the Garden View Tea Room this afternoon but missed it because the girls wanted to see the Car Stunt Show. The show was great but I miss not going to the tea. This is one of my favorites. Oh well, there's always next time.

Dinner at Chef Mickey
This was my youngest Dd's Birthday Celebration. She was so excited when she saw the special day placemat she received. It was the usual food. Very good as always. Our server treated us great. He brought over a cupcake with candles in it when we were ready for dessert. Donald Duck was our room when the celebration song came on and he made a fuss over her. It made her day. :wizard: We were also seated 30 min. early. We arrived early and asked if it would be a problem to be seated earlier than our ADR time and it wasn't. We waited 5 min. and we had our seat.

I'll continue later...thanks for reading.

Thanks for sharing your reviews. We're planning on going to Raglan Road in in the falll with DD8 and DS almost 7, how did your kids like it? We love Irish music, so were hoping to hear some and possibly some of the dancing (DD has been taking Irish Step dancing for2 years). Did you see any of the entertainment or did it start too late? Our ADR is for 7pm.

My dd's like the restaurant and the food. We didn't see the entertainment because we went at 6. I think it would have been too late for my girls. Would love to see it though some other time.

Have a great trip.

DH and I went to the World last May, (admittedly right after the ddp started). The servers seemed to go out of their way to make sure we "got our money's worth" because the more we ordered, the more their 18% tip would be. We had excellent service :cheer2: at Rose and Crown, California Grill, Mama Melrose. We did have wine or beer at all three, so tipped for that and a little extra on our own.

HOWEVER, we had a really grumpy waitress at Tony's. First she was complaining about us not being able to have wine with our pasta. We were fine, she was apparently ticked off to have been assigned to work in a restaurant w/o a bar and the extra tips associated with that. We ordered ice water, which apparently wasn't good enough for her. . . more on that later. She practically force fed us the most expensive things on the menu and then on her own added 6 grilled shrip to each plate for an additional $12-$15 apiece (can't remember). They were overcooked and unseasoned and nowhere on the menu did it list the option of adding shrimp to the plate, so maybe she just made it up. After dessert, she brought us giant smoothies with the check because "you can get them with the plan." These went the way of the shrimp. . . left on the table. I don't like to waste food, but we didn't order the shrimp or the smoothies and didn't want them. I know people want to get their $$ worth, but wow. . .she was aggressive and we were full. She just wanted her tip from the "mouse," and she didn't get extra from us.

That being said, however, the servers elsewhere didn't treat us any differently than when we pay out of pocket. I know it is a fine line, because folks do want their $$ worth and it is the server's responsibility to see that they are pleased, just don't force feed me, please! :smooth:

On one of our last meals this march we talked to our server for awhile on her feelings on the dining plan. For the most part we had good service with the exception of planet hollywood and maybe that is the norm there. The server said that most of the servers dont like the DP because the tip is straight up on there. What she meant was that they have to claim the entire tip instead of maybe only claiming half or whatever they would do. She says taxes take so much. So basically the complaint is they have to be honest about what they are tipped, instead of only claiming a portion. We did decide that we would probably tip on top of the dp for good service the next time we go.
But let me say overall we had good service. =)

May 1
Lunch at Wolfgang Puck Express
We LOVE this place. Great food, great service. I had the BBQ chicken Quesadilla, macadamia nut cookie (very good), and mango iced tea. Dh had Pepperoni Pizza, choc. chip cookie, and mango iced tea. Dd9 and dd 7 had mac n' cheese (the best), brownie, and sprite. Dd5 had Chicken Strips with mashed potatoes, an apple, and juice.

Dinner at Mama Melrose in MGM
We arrived early for this ADR too and were seated early without a problem. Our server was very nice and never left us with empty glasses or dirty dishes sitting on the table. I had the Brushetta, Chicken Parm., Tiramisu (too much cream, but good), and water. Dh had Caesar Salad, Chick. Parm., Ricotta Cheesecake (very good), and water. Dd's were able to choose an appy from the kids menu or the adult menu. 2 chose caesar salads and my youngest chose the Minestrone Soup. Entrees for the kids were Mini Chicken Parm, Calzone, and Calzone with Pepperoni. For dessert the kids were allowed to choose anything but they kept to the kids menu and got choc. gelato and fruit cups. We will do this restaurant again. The food was delicious and the restaurant was nice.

Snacks
For snacks we had waters, Mickey Bars, Choc. Covered Banana's  , Choc. Chip cookie ice cream sandwiches (yummy), cookies from BC Marketplace, Popcorn, and a Power Drink.

Well, that's all. I can answer questions if you have any. Thanks for reading.

Sorry to hear that you had such bad service at Alfredo's. DH and I always love to go there everytime we go to Disney. We've been there at least 15-20 times. It's always been very good on the food and the service has always been good as well. So I'm definately disappointed to hear that you had a bad time. :sad2:

Maybe Disney needs to start leaving comment cards on the table that can be deposited in a box unpon leaving so that you can grade your waitstaff? Just a thought as that would give them a heads up on who is doing their job and who is not.

They could go by a majority of comments rather than the few that are negative all the time or positive all the time.

It seems to me that Disney jobs would be premium waiting jobs as the prices are high enough to almost guarantee a decent tip, most of the time.

Thanks for the report it all sounds delish!
After reading a couple of posts I was going to say the servers are probably happy about plan guaranteeing them 18% (I've seen many people leave 10-15!!! We usually leave 20% math is easy!) But then I read Cherlynns and the fact they have to tax the whole thing.

But think the "Comment cards" are a fantastic idea!!!

ABK96,

Thanks for posting! I got a kick out of reading what your young DDs ordered especially the soups. Nice variety for kids. :goodvibes

I am going solo in December and was hoping to try Alfredo's for the CP plan. Maybe not after your review! ;)

Overall sounds like you had a great trip!

Thanks for posting your reviews! Happy Anniversary! :sunny:

I was sorry to hear about Alfredo's~we went there last summer and found the waitstaff very attentive, they definitley worked as a team. We were happy with the place, in general. Do I think it is the best Italian food? Uhm, no, I am Italian and very picky, but I do like their fettucine. Thanks again for your report!

Thanks everyone for the Anniversary Wishes and for reading my long never ending reports.

I don't want to sway anyone from trying a restaurant. We did love Alfredo's in July when we went and we used the DP then too. I guess it's just who your server is and the attitude for the day.

I hope everyone enjoys their upcoming trips as much as we did. We didn't let any meal ruin our trip. You can't get too upset, your in Disney afterall. :wizard:

I'm glad you had a special time at CR. Thanks for posting your reviews.

Great reviews... question about MM... did you use the Fantasmic dinner package?

No we didn't. But we could have if we wanted to. When I made ADR's they only had 4:30 and I thought that would be too early to eat.
