So I just returned from a week long stay at BWV and I wanted to share my experience using the "golden FP" and I must say I would definitely pay extra to have them for future visits.

What's a "golden FP" you ask. Well it's a FP connected to your magic band that you can use on any ride at any time. (One CM referred to it as s Golden FP, so that's what we called it)

Let me explain. I was traveling with a large party, 3 -2br villas. Arrived at check-in to find none of our requests were honored, none of our rooms were together and my parents room wasn't even ready yet at 5:00. We spent a lot of time at check-in and missed our fp+ for Soarin. To make up for it the CM gave our entire party 2 golden fp per person per day. YAY. Unfortunately we didn't realize this until day 2 but I have to say it made a huge difference.

We still used fp+ and it was nice not running around collecting paper tickets and it was nice showing up later knowing we were guaranteed certain rides but it was no comparison to a"golden fp". With fp+ I was always looking at my watch worrying I would miss my time, which we almost did twice and did miss once. Touring with alarge group is tough but in the end it was my most successful trip yet, even during peak season, partly because of this"golden fp".

So I got to thinking maybe this is something Disney could/would offer in the future for a price or in place of emh. If they do sign me up because it was amazing. No scheduling, no checking wait times, no missed fp times, no watching the time at a restaurant worried you'll miss your fp+, just show up and use your golden fp wherever and whenever.

Sounds great but you do know you can move your FP+ times? We missed a few and made them later, just don't want someone thinking they are "locked"

The one we missed was on departure day and the only time available was to late and wouldn't work for us.

But you're right you can change times. Can you change after the time has passed? We changed right before the time expired.

We can dream, can't we!!!!:cloud9:

Ahh gotcha. Yes you can change after the time window has passed. As long as you have not touched "Mickey to Mickey" you can move the FP+ slot around. (Given availability)

That's not what we experienced. Once the time frame had passed we were no longer able to do anything with that FP+.

You should of contacted a CM we missed a few windows so have family and friends of ours on different trips and had no issue moving those missed times around as long as you did not touch the first Mickey.

There may have been no other availability because you can move your time around even after it has expired.

The "Golden FP" is a nice perk, but I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay much for a one-time use FP, even if it was good for any ride at any time. What I WOULD pay extra for is a "PLATINUM FP" (i.e., a FP that entitles the bearer to unlimited uses at any time for any ride). Perhaps I should call it an "Unobtainium FP" instead? :lmao:

Hmmm... Come to think of it, that sounds kind of familiar. :rolleyes1

Wouldn't pay for a Golden FP and I don't think it is something that should be sold.

rofl!!!

But why? This brings back the Universal Studios argument again. Universal sells these with great success, and it's offered to their Deluxe (only) hotel on-site guests for free.

For me it is hard to justify paying for something that has always been free and by free I mean included in the park admission you pay for now. Charging for another category would look like nickle and diming customers to me.

And I must say that I'd rather that WDW reserve these "Golden FP+" for guest recovery and not put them out for sale to the highest bidders...
