HI All,

We are just back from a quick 5 night trip to WDW. Stayed 2 nights at Pop and 3 at VWL.

Day 1 Sat 2/9- did not arrive until 0330am, so we slept in and had lunch at Pop Foodcourt. DS had kids chicken nugget meal and I had one of the Panini sandwiches with turkey and cheese. This was very good. The Panini was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Tasted very fresh.

For dinner we went to Captain Jacks as a walk up just before 5. We were seated in just a few minutes. We were not yet on the DDP, so we payed OOP. I ordered twin tails and DS ordered the kids hotdog meal with clam chowder soup. I ate the soup and it was really good. Creamy with nice chunks of clams that were not too chewy. They really have a system here. It literally took 2 minutes to get our orders after we placed them. We sat on the side of the bar overlooking the water, so I watched how they plated everything. Boy can they crank out the meals! Anyway, my Twin Tails were awesome. They were perfectly cooked and the green beans were tender with a bit of snap to the outside. I did not order dessert here as I was too full.

Later that night we had dessert at Giardelli's. DS had the hot fudge sundae and I had the brownie sundae. It was not a hot night out at all, but our desserts must have been sitting in the back waiting to be brought out, because by the time they were, they were melted. When I used my spoon to get some ice cream, the whole glass overflowed out the sides. :sad2: I was able to use one of my cards to get a 10% discount. It was either DVC member card or AP card.

Before we left for the night we stopped at Wetzel's Pretzels for a couple of those bad boys. Yum is all I can say. They are just hot and fresh and chewy and soft. I used DVC which is supposed to give 20% off, but I later looked at receipt and only received 10% off. :confused3

Day 2 to come......

Thanks for your encouragement!:goodvibes

Day 2.
For breakfast we had the Bounty platter again which we split.
For lunch we went to Rainforest in DTD. We went early and were seated very quickly with no ressies. They seated us in the gorilla room next to the water fountain with the naked guy holding the globe. :rotfl2: I was going to take a picture of him to show you, but DS got mad and forbid me. :lmao:

Even with the sound of all of the people( it was not full) , the occasional gorilla/thunder sounds they still had the music cranked up. I mean really loud! It was ridiculous. The fountain was very loud and we couldn't even hear eachother. :scared1: Bad seating area for sure! DS had the Jurassic chicken nuggets off the kids menu and he thought these were ok. I had the Rainforest burger with cheese and grilled onions. This was good and it should be for $10.99 +.59 for the cheese. It came with chips. We did not get any dessert as we were stuffed. The service was not that great. We had to ask for drink refills and for ketchup and mayo. She also never gave us plates with the appy. Total for $32.54 and I whip out my DVC card to get my 10% off. She comes back with check and the discount was $1.86! I was thinking...hmm I know I am bad at math, but is $1.86 10% of $32.54???? So I ask the server and she says it is only off of the food, not the appy or the drinks. :confused3 Ok I can see if we ordered alcohol, but I ordered ice tea and my son sprite. I thought to myself, gee how generous! Since her service was bad, I left her $5 which really she did not even deserve as the appy and food was brought out by other people. Basically she took our order and refilled our drinks after I asked for more.

Dinner was at Concourse Steakhouse in Contemporary Resort. Now I know this doesn't get great reviews, but we ate here this past August and the only complaint we had that time was the side that came with the filet. The side was chunks of large soggy croutons ( I am not kidding) and 2 broccoli trees. The croutons looked like potatoes at first, but one bite and I knew they weren't. They were long skinny stalks with a little bit of flourette at the top. They looked like trees. Anyway, this time the server asked us if we wanted something besides the Italian bread salad. :rotfl: Ok I am 1st generation American of Italian parents, and I have never heard of this. Anyway, I ordered the baked potato and DS the mashed. We ordered the steaks Med= well. I used to always order well done, but the would always burn the steaks every place I went, so just recently I decided to try med-well. The steaks had a red wine steak butter on them which was just yummy. The filets were tender and juicy.

For dessert we had what I considered one of the best desserts this trip and the previous one. It was the Butterfinger cheesecake. It was a smallish round cheesecake with sprinkled butterfinger and drizzled with caramel. I about licked the plate.:lmao: I wish it was bigger.:rolleyes1 Oh and we had the smoothies to drink. Yuma luma ding dong!:drinking1 Our server was excellent and I gave her 25% tip cash. :thumbsup2
I will really miss this place when they close in May.:sad2:
I wish I could figure out how to post photos. I have tons of them from this trip and the last, but my settings say I am not allowed to post photos. :confused3 I never violated anything on this site that I know of.

Sounds great. I can't figure out how to post pic's either. Good luck. :goodvibes

Enjoying your reviews. I'm not sure why you're not allowed to post pics, that doesn't make sense. Why don't you try asking on the Tech Board?

Enjoying your reviews!! Can't wait for more.

I had to chuckle at your review of Rain Forest Cafe. I don't think I'll ever go. The only thing that annoys me more than poor service is music that's too loud! That was a double whammy!

In regards to the Butterfinger cheesecake, you can get this at the Sunshine Seasons Food Fair in Epcot. This in my favorite dessert and always get it when we go there. It's not round, but a slice - just wanted you to know that it is still possible to get this at the World....:thumbsup2

I have wanted to try Concourse, but I won't get to WDW before it closes. Thanks for the reviews.
