Just back and Q & C vouchers info!

First off the Q & C vouchers were incredible.

We ate so well, and were stuffed!!!!

We ate many places: Roaring Forks, Tangiereine Cafe, Beaches & Cream, Electric Umbrella, Cosmic Rays, Cantina de San Angel, Mara, ABC Commisary, and Pepper Market.

We shared between the four of us, and ate very very well. At the beginning of the trip we used three vouchers between the four of us, and then backed it down to two for the four of us. We ordered the maximum number of vouchers and I think we have either 10 or 12 left over.

We "made" money for everything, and didn't feel that we had to order the most expensive item to justify it.

The "least" we made for two vouchers was $25.83 (smallest profit)

The best we did for two vouchers was $48! (Pepper Market)
2nd runner up, was Beaches and Cream with two vouchers were $42-46!

Highlights of our eating tour was: Tangieriene.. amazing food, great flavors! Mara.. interesting textures, and fantastic deserts!
Cantina de San Angel actually very good as well..

Least favorite would be ABC Commissary with the smalles profit margin... the food was good but they were very literal with the voucher there..

Roaring Forks.. was very generous with interpretation, same with Cosmic Rays, and Pepper Market. Beaches and Cream was excellent as always (we ate there twice!)

We were never hungry and the kids were happy to share!

You say that certain restaurants were very liberal with their interpretation of the vouchers. Could you clarify that a bit.

Roaring forks was liberal... we ordered our entree (cheesesteak, chicken sandwich for the kids), and ordered drinks and desserts. Then the cashier said we could also pick a side even though the grill items came with fries. We picked salads, chili or soup.

Tangieriene Cafe...even though our combo plate had sides, we were allowed extra sides and frozen non alcoholic drinks... plus any desert we wanted.


Mara-- even though the kids pizza had french fries included... they were also allowed the kids to have breadsticks as well... same with our AFrican Stew...

Pepper Market.. amazing amount of liberal interpretation as well. The kids shared a chinese platter, and got a large portion of noodles as well... and they shared a huge piece of oreo pie, plus a drink.. we shared the enchiladas platter and got a desert sampler... with our drink...

We had great experiences with B&C, Tangerine and Yakitori House on our trip this month. Our return for each voucher was amazing. The following numbers are rough approximations.

B&C: We got about $25 worth of food for our voucher.
Tangerine: the bill would have been $17-18. We would have done better but DS wanted Fries as the side instead of something more expensive.
Yakitori House: the bill would have been $22. They allowed California Roll as a side even though rice came with the combo.

I was amazed at how easy they were to use, and the value they were.

As for the desert sampler, we did get it... although when we checked out, the cashier did say "Next time the desert sampler is technically two deserts..but I'll let it go". The desert sampler was two deserts, we picked out a fruit pie tart and a chocolate mousse and they arranged it beautifully on the plate with grapes, strawberries and chocolate drizzle...

We offered to pay the difference in the desert and the cashier said not to worry about it. See, we thought it was going to be smaller portions of two larger deserts... but it was two full size deserts. At Mara, there were a smaller portion of deserts in a sampler size and I thought it was going to be like that...

what you are entitled to before you order? Or did the server (person behind the counter) know what you were allowed? DH would not be comfortable having to ask the cashier every time in each different place we eat. I would like to know what I can get before I order. If I had to pay extra for something, I probably wouldn't order it. DH, DD1 and me will be using the vouchers primarily for dinner. We are used to each ordering our own meals (DH and I) at the various food courts and counter svcs in WDW, but just not ordering desert. Is the extra food you get so much so you would want to share one voucher for dinner? Is it possible to get pasta or something similar as the included side and have that be DD1's meal? That would sure beat toting around Gerber Graduates, etc!
Oh yeah-one question about the Japanese counter svc-for the side, I heard there was some kind of "rolls" or dumplings you could get as the side, that came with a few. What exactly is that? Did you eat at the Chinese counter svc?

Yes, some servers were more knowledgable than others. I did start by walking up to the counter and saying "I have these vouchers, do you know how these work?" Most cashiers knew of them, but some needed a supervisor to ring in the coupon code. Some xahiers were "earning thier ears" so they had to call a supervisor over to ring it up correctly.

At Mara, Tangeriene, Beaches & Cream, Roaring Forks they understood the voucher.

At ABC Commisary, Cosmic Rays (the cashier understood the voucher, but had to get supervisory override) and Electric Umbrella keyed it in wrong.. but it was fine in the end. We wound up with an extra side at Cosmic Rays, and an extra side at Electric Umbrella as well..

I did study out the menues ahead of time.. and that helped. I would walk up to the counter and state it and order the side..one time (ABC Commisary) told me that sides were included in the meal, so I couldn't over another one...

Yes, our two kids 5 & 8 did fine with most times many food left over off one voucher..


Lets see us two healthy appetite adults shared one voucher at Beaches & Cream and did fine. .. we shared a turkey sandwich with onion rings one time and a prime rib sub another time. (same with onion rings).

We also shared one voucher at Pepper Market and Tangieriene
Tangierene was great we ordered the lamb/chicken combo, platter and got an extra side of rice.. The side of rice was an entire large 9 inch paper plate full of rice... the kids side was hummus and they ate that as well. The combo platter has coucous, lentil salad and tabouleh as three smaller sides. plus our LARGE side of rice. Our kids got the meatballs, and they shared the meatballs (5 or 6 of them on one plate) and my daughter ate the rice while my son ate the hummus. There was still some rice left after my daughter had some, so I had lots of rice. Not sure if your one year old will eat tabouleh.. but it was very tasty. The adults shared a fruit tart (it was incredible) and thekidsshared a chocolate pastry.

At Pepper Market, the kids shared a chinese combo platter with noodles.. (you could choose noodle or rice). And my husband and I shared enchiladas combo platter. There were sides of rice with that as well, plus we shared a desert sampler

Mara was a nightmare with the vouchers. There were about a half dozen people having problems with them when I was there. I asked the woman what I could order with it. She told me. I ordered & picked up desert. Walked over to the register. Waited 15 minutes in line (only 1 register was open) and was told by the grumpiest old lady that I ever saw that I could not get what I had ordered. I asked her to call a manager to rectify the situation. She refused & kept telling me to go back & re order! I went back & the woman who I originall ordered from told me the cashier was wrong! Well, I ask about 5 times to get the manager, as now the other people having problems do. She gets there 5 minutes later. Agrees with the cash register lady ( she was just a gruff, as well) I had to re-order everything. wait in line all over again without so much of an appology. I didn't want something that I was not entitled to, That's why I asked. But the place was a circus.

Thank you so much for this post. I just ordered my Q & C vouchers tonight. I ordered 16 for 4 of us - my husband, me, 13 year old and 7 year old.

This post really made me know that I made the right decision. It is good to know that there are options.

Did you eat at any of the places in the parks? Most of those listed seemed to be at resorts - or was I mistaken?

Also do you think, with our family that 16 is enough?

cosmic Rays was in Magic Kingdom
Electric Umbrella was in Epcot
Tangeriene was in Epcot
ABC Commissary was in MGM


We ordered the maximum 40, and we came home with 11 of them . We did 8 days on 30, with some meals being 3 vouchers (one for each adult, kids always sharing), and some vouchers were 2.

I did not have a problem at Mara at all. The person who took our order saw the vouchers suggested sides.. (we didn't want french fries/so we got bread sticks), and it came quickly. Our deserts were carrot cake (mine), desert sampler (kids), and my husband got pecan pie.

Cindy B~ Enjoyed reading your very upbeat tale of using the vouchers. I have been looking forward to using them at B&C, Pepp. Mkt. and RFC during our 9/28-10/10 trip. Now all I have to do is JOIN Connections so I can get my hands on these great little vouchers!!!
I've been trying to join through Lillian Vernon since 8/11. For some reason my enrollment is not going through. I've made at least 15 phone calls to try to clear this up. I've been told that it is bc. I had already joined (through LV) and canceled back in 10/02 and you cannot join a month to month Connections membership more than once.
Anyway, after reading your great experience, I'm more determined than ever to get the vouchers!

Glad to know the vouchers worked so well! One of my biggest grips about traveling (anywhere) is the outrageous prices they charge for food. They know you have to eat. One "scam" to beware of--a too good to be true package deal at a deluxe resort, including tickets to nearby attractions, maybe breakfast, for less than you'd pay to stay at a basic hotel and tickets to the attractions. How can they do it? They get you when you need to eat! We had this happen at Sea World San Antonio last year. One of the finest hotels in town, breakfast, and tickets to Sea World for less than the tickets and accomodations at a basic hotel (aka dump). So we thought we had a deal. Until about 9 pm after swimming in their fantastic pool, everyone was hungry. The cheapest we could feed a family of four was $90! And that was for hot dogs and ice cream via room service! Not to worry--we drove there and had our van. My husband drove about two miles down the road to a Burger King and fed the entire family for about $15. He did make quite a sight getting out of his car at valet parking with Burger King bags then parading through the fancy lobby with them, but, hey, their loss!

My complaint with using the vouchers at Mara is they only allowed fountain drinks or milk as the drink. She would not let us get a bottled drink of any type.

No you could not get the chicken meal...

but I got the chicken ceasar salad (which was HUGE!) plus some soup.. i was more than full, and I got a large iced tea, and I think a brownie for desert.

My hubby got a stacked sandwich, soup, same drink and dessert.

My kids got a cheesesteak, small salad and drink and brownie.

sounds like these worked great for you( hope we do as well in Jan.)

could you not get the smaller chicken meal or did you mean the family one. is any of the food not allowed ( like maybe a certain sandwich or what ever) also did you know or would they let you get any of the things that claim to feed more than one.. like I noticed at some of the resturants for the lunch vouchers some of the appetizers say they feed two or what ever. i presume you can not get anything like that? Thanks
