Just back and my feelings on Saratoga Springs

Why don't you check the member website or your guide book. You will see there are NO POINT CHARTS for BW INN, WL or the Beach Club. There are ONLY charts for the Villas. If you did reseve the BW Inn on points it was a fluke. I would also guarantee you that when AKV comes online you will no longer be able to book anything in the Lodge except the two floors that are being converted to DVC units.

And as for why you were told differently about VB by a CM, well we all know that they just say whatever they think is right. It does not mean that they are.

I do have one question for you. Just how long have you been a DVC member? Chuck has been a DVC member since 1992!

Really? Then I'm nnow to say the least quite confused...about how I was able to get my MIL four nights at the BW Inn (not Villas, Inn) last May using my points.

I just called her and asked her to fax me the DVC confirmation letter (so I can pdf it and post it here if this debate continues). Perhaps you are referring to some prior policy which changed at some point?

Please, do post it, considering there is no point chart for any of the Inn rooms at Wilderness Lodge, Boardwalk or Beach Club.

We are apparently only "debating" VB (I never said HH, OKW or SSR were "blended.") Whatever the financial structure of VB is/(was?), it is not (like SSR) solely a mass of separate condo-complex type buildings. The Inn structure dominates and is the heart and soul of the resort.

Then why was I told differently by MS? And no, not by one of the "ah...er...let me check" types of CMs; yes, I know not to completely trust the latter. :thumbsup2

Why would MS even know? All they handle are reservations, not billing or accounting.

As I noted, all of VB has always been DVC and that includes the Inn portion. Of course DVC can at times be available for cash through CRO or MS. I don't believe there has ever been a situation where DVC members were allowed to book a hotel portion when it had a current DVC attachment and that includes BCV, VWL, BWV and their companion hotel portion. Same will apparently be true for AKV. There may have been a short period of overlap at the time an addition was announced but it would be a short period and BWI was NEVER available on points. The only DVC members that can stay at BWI are those using cash. The exceptions have been a few times when DVC or the resort messed up and a room was not available or a similar major issue occurred. I even know of people given BWI concierge due to a mix up. I'm not really sure why DVC does this, it really makes no sense to limit the usage in this way. If one is anxious enough to burn points that way why not allow it, but it's their call.

drakethib I've just gotta say I love that picture of the baby. She is adorable!

Everything in Texas is just a bit bigger, right??:thumbsup2

Well yeah except my wife just turned the A/C down and now it is very cold in the house. Can we put the contest off until it warms up? :rotfl2:

I better stop before I get in trouble. Sorry mods. :goodvibes

Yes, I haven't stayed there, but apparently you missed one of my prior posts on this thread - I've seen the place, having walked around it for the better part of an hour soon after it opened. And I 've stayed in enough other DVC facilities to know that the interior attributes of villas don't vary from one to another that dramatically.

That knowledge, my short tour and posts like the one that started this thread have convinced me that my family and I were smart to buy what we did (and when we did, for almost $22 a point less than the going resale price now) - and will never have to second-guess ourselves while enjoying our home over in the more popular Epcot neighborhood!! :goodvibes

Hey Beach Blanket, that's just fine by me. I feel the exact same way about BCV. I've visited several times in the last two years, usually starting with breakfast at Cape May then strolling then grounds before heading into Epcot via the IG. I've only virtually toured the units via pictures and my awareness of how the rooms are set up elsewhere. But SAB is always super crowded when I visit and a mishmash of steps, bridges and chaise lounges that make it a very difficult area to traverse in my power chair. It's lack of any zero entry adult pool makes it a very disappointing structure. (Those bump steps just make me mad because they are worthless to someone of my disability.)

Parking is better than BWV, but I find myself preferring BWV for an Epcot resort. (I've been to BWV more years mostly to experience the Boardwalk atmosphere.) It has better views and I can find places not so jammed pack mid-day. Hence, when I look at BCV's higher resale prices, my mind keeps thinking insanity must be contagious. Every time I read BCV owners struggling to get room reservations even at 10-11 months out with very limited possibilities of a 3-4 month ressie, well I'm just glad I paid less and got SSR.

(In short SSR is a much better resort for me from accessibility issues to room availability and with a similarly pleasing locale. I'm not married to the idea of rolling out of bed and walking to either Epcot or MGM. Just not parks I find I must be at home. Now Magic Kingdom is entirely different which makes me crave CRV, despite any problems I'd endure with room selections and parking.)

My point here is that there are valid reasons why one resort will be first choice and another last resort. The trouble enters when one crowd is so united in their likes/dislikes the argument becomes absolutist and derogatory. I know I find a large number of Epcot DVCers on this forum who are so caught up in their loves they tend to go a bit overboard in their hate. Just as there are a fair number of SSR Lovers so in love they go over board in their protectiveness. Now the OKWers are just too mature to care anymore. They just sit on their big ol' porches watching the conflagration from their rocking chairs. VWLers are probably too busy counting trees to worry much, and perhaps hoping/dreading a nearby CRV.

Of course, until Disney extends the manmade lakes between Epcot and DTD then allows us to have an all out sea battle, no one can ultimate declare supremacy. It's like the French vs. the English just itching for the Battle of Trafalgar.

Besides the "beating a dead horse" smile I have lobbied for, I think we need one with something flying over one's head (I would use that a lot too). No, I obviously didn't get the sarcasm, sometimes doesn't translate well when written I guess. I glad it was just sarcasm I missed, as I've come to expect a better arguement from you. ;)

Awe, UConn that's the second compliment you've given me. Stop, you're making me think you actually well kinda respect me.

On a side note, I have to agree with Crisi here. I hate those bedspreads in the master bedroom at SSR. Fortunately, I never use bedspreads so it quickly gets relegated to the closet when I unpack. Anyway can we include a little extra with our MFs specifically with a request for improvement. Like maybe a full-color tear out from my latest Domestications catalogue. I'm sure I could afford to update at least 10 master beds.

I know. I'll take care of all the HA rooms and you guys donate to the rest. Smokers for the smoking rooms, DTD watchers for CP, joggers for the Paddock rooms, parents of little kids for the Springs, and the poor folk can do the Carousel. Just two buildings there so there can't be that many master beds.

BroganMc, you are a riot, I'm lovin your sense of humor:) .

I honestly cannot believe what has happened to my thread. It has taken on a life of its own. Thats okay I guess. A good discussion, even if it goes in all kinds of different directions, can be great. As long as it stays kind.

Carry on, this is fun.

You know, I drove past BWV once. Slowed down to about 20-25 MPH. I didn't like the color of the trim around the windows. I don't think I'll ever, ever stay there... ever. :rolleyes1

So, let me get this straight... You walked around SSR for less than an hour just after it opened? That means that it was just after the first phase of construction was complete and work was going on in the next phase. So you basically were walking around near a construction zone, probably before the vaunted SSR landscaping (which it integral to SSR's theming) had a chance to take hold, and perhaps even before that section of the resort was operating at 100%. Even with your DVC experience, do you honestly think you gave it a fair chance? Did you go on your "tour" with an open mind, or with the intentions of seeing what was wrong with SSR? Were you honestly looking to see what SSR had to offer and how it could enhance your DVC ownership, or was the intention to make yourself feel better/smarter/superior for buying at BWV?

Maybe this was Disney's biggest mistake with SSR? Maybe they rushed it into the market before it was ready, and they turned off a lot of the early guests and visitors? I just hope you give AKV a better shot than a <1 hour run through just after it opens.

I swear all of this going back and forth arguing over resorts. :rolleyes1

At the risk of getting banned by the mods, if this type of immaturity continues, I guess the next thing that happens (the men anyway) is that we have we have a wee-wee measuring contest?????

Geeze, if you don't like the place don't go or don't buy into it. Why the need to botch about it. I don't like BCV so I will not being staying there anymore if I can help it. Is it worth bashing the place? No. although a beautiful place, It is just not my taste. To each his own.

BTW, I would win the contest.
:lmao:

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:
Ok....we have a winner....game over:thumbsup2

I've been reading the thread, and this is the first time I feel compelled to comment!

A VWL (and others) owner here, who also wonders what the hoopla is about. (Love the Maturity comment!) However, I don't count trees, I hug them!:hippie:

Really? What was the first one, I don't remember it. Must've been a sarcastic or backhanded one......;)
