Just back and loved the PPH

My experience from last year was...

A castmember told me that I should go pool hopping to the DLH (we were just chatting and it was unsolicated advice). Well, we tried it and found they were checking for hotel keys. I flashed mine, but they didn't really look at it and let us in. I would have felt very embarassed if they had turned us away since I was only following the advice of PPH lifeguard.

The CM who sent you to the DLH pool would have gotten in trouble for doing so. It is not allowed, unless your pool is down. You basically snuck in, but didn't get caught.

After reading all these positive reviews of PPH, I just have to ask if maybe we got a terrible room when we were there in May.

We were in a theme park view on the 11th floor (1132) and while the view was amazing and we loved the location of the hotel (easy walk to DCA through GCH), we had a hard time with all the noise we heard in our room - the traffic noise from the street below never stopped and the noise from the hallway was unbelievable (we could hear everything that went on in our hallway). We vowed never to stay again but after reading about everyone's wonderful stays, I'm now wondering if we just got a bad room and possible room location and that maybe I should give them another try.

So my question is for anyone who has stayed in a theme park view room, did you experience the same things? If not, do you remember your room number or where in the building you stayed?

We were in room 1302 and I was shocked how quiet it was. Now we were at the end of the hallway so we were not near the elevator or anything else that people would be going to so only the few people with rooms near us would have a reason to come down the hall by our room. We didn't hear any noise at all from traffic and never heard the voices of people in the rooms next to us at all. We could hear the booms of the fireworks and the WOC music but thats what we expected and wanted. And they didn't last long. If we would have been asleep before it started it certainly wasn't loud enough to wake us up.

Was your room near the elevator? Or just in the middle of the hallway where people had to pass it to go to their rooms? We may have lucked out with our room location.

Thanks coaches24...our room was located near the end of the hall where everyone did have to walk in order to get near the elevators....(we had 2 small halls to walk through after the elevator to get to our main hall and I guess we were about 4 doors down) and while I understand everyone is excited to be at DL, I wish people would consider other guests and use their "inside voices", especially when returning to their rooms at like 1 am...

After the first night when we were watching TV and all you could hear was the street noise, I thought maybe the window was open but I checked and it they were closed, so we were at a loss as to why the room was so noisy. Since it was our first stay, we just assumed because it was located near a street that was the reason why it was the cheapest of the 3 DL hotels....

The pool at PPH was closed last January through March for repair. Perhaps there were a few days they let people use it :confused3 but it was well documented as being down at that time. There were many discussions about it here at the time, and since. You can also Google it as well.

I think the poster has mentioned their Feb experience on another thread, and I'm still flummoxed. They used the PPH pool, but as far as I knew the pool, or the pool *deck*, was closed all that time.

We were there in Feb and the pool couldn't have been more closed, and that's why they offered hopping.

Our first room was down low enough that we could hear the street. The street itself didn't bother us (but if you heard the traffic noise from where I sit in my condo you would understand why) but what did bother us was the fake (the union there likes to hire people to appear to strike) strike that was going on on the sidewalk below. This is before I slept with earplugs; earplugs make everything better. :)

We've never heard people outside our door, unless they are truly yelling.

I *think* we've only stayed higher up than 11 but I can't promise that's true. :)

Give it another try!

I would hate to be in a noisy room. We have only been to DL once and were at DLH. popcorn::

Hi Amyamya,

Glad to hear you enjoyed the hotel! I've been at both DLH and PPH and agree the rooms are a little larger and its always nice being so close for clothes changes and naps. ;)

We just got back from 3 days at the DLR and PPH. I LOVED the hotel and will probably stay there from now on. Last two trips were at the DLH and the GCH. The room was basic, but bigger than the GCH, no fancy frills like the DLH but the beds/pillows were VERY comfortable and triple sheeted. We were on the 14th floor and watched WOC every night from our room. My kids loved the pool and the slide. We rode the glass elevator every time we went up or down. The walk to the monorail or to DCA thru the GCH was cake. We rode GRR two times in a row and walked back to the hotel to change. The Surf's Up character buffet was awesome. Quality character time and great food (wild-caught salmon from Alaska.)

Thanks to all who suggested a stay there. I will be back!!

We had room 1500, which was at the end of the hall from the elevator on the top floor.

The only issue with noise was the strike going on that a PP mentioned.

I should add, that I am used to traffic noise, etc, so that wouldn't bother me, the apartment where I live is next to a shopping center.
