We spent our 1st week at AKL, the resort was amazing, There is an overall experience one is transported into when you enter the AKL lobby. The music, the smell , the architecture are all quite amazing . The thing which made it soo special were the cm's from different countries in Africa. They were stationed throughout the lobby and the main viewing areas, and were lovely interesting , and more than ready to impart some tidbits of information about their culture , the animals , and the things they enjoy about their African countries. They had activities with the kids everyday , all the activities were teaching the children something about the animals , or African storytelling , with simple lessons woven in. We LOVED having the opportunity to take advantage of these offerings , my 8 year old daughter enjoyed the hotel and it's activities as much as or more than the parks. The Mara food court was very good , and we loved Boma's too. We had 2 rooms 1 was 2nd floor Zebra trail and 1 was 4th floor Kudu trail. They were both great rooms, and we saw a few animals each day outside of both rooms. their are viewing areas all over also . The pool was big and fun , it was neat to be able to get out of the pool and walk over to the fence and check out some animals for a few minutes , then dive back in again. The bus service was great . it is a BIG hotel , so some of the walks to rooms are long, but there are viewing areas along the way , and it is beautiful. IF you are looking for a hotel to spend some time in , this is a beautifl choice. For park people ,who really want to get up at dawn and go all day , you might get bothered by the distance of some of the rooms to the lobby . If you are looking to spend some time at a resort , this one is really a treat.
