Hi all-

We're just back from 8 days in the World and I thought I'd give a very brief rundown/review of our meals. Please feel free to PM me for more info!

June 23rd - Arrival Day
House of Blues-DTD- Pretty average which is what we expected. I had the shrimp po'boy, DH had the Jambalaya and DS had the burger. We started out with the catfish bites and sweet potato fries which were very yummy.

June 24th - Kona Cafe (brunch) and Tutto Italia for dinner
Kona Cafe was one of our favorites for this trip. So much so that we ended up there two days - one with an ADR and one without. Both times were at about 10:45-11:00 am and the restaurant was pretty empty. I had the Samoan both times (poached egg atop pulled pork and potatoes) which I loved. DH and DS both got the Tonga Toast which was yummy but huge and very sweet!

I had been looking forward to Tutto Italia after reading the menu on All ears, but it is sadly out of date. I wanted Tortelloni alla Panna Tartufata - veal ravioli with white truffle cream and a barolo wine reduction for dinner but it wasn't on the menu so I settled for lasagna. It was good but not as good as the Torelloni would have been! DH also had lasagna and DS had "pillows" of cheese (sachetti or something like that)

June 25th - Marrakesh (Epcot) and Jiko
Marrakesh was a lot of fun and the food was really good. I had the lemon chicken, DH had the lamb and DS had Chicken Couscous. We all really enjoyed our meals and the atmosphere was enjoyable as well. DH ordered a glass of red Moroccan wine and it was "interesting." Not sure we'd do that again.

Jiko, as always, was amazing. DH and I both ordered the Kenyan Coffee BBQ-Braised Beef Short Rib with a side of Mac and Cheese. DS had the filet with mac and cheese. Unfortunately, halfway through our meal, the fire alarm went off and they had to evacuate the hotel. After standing outside by the pool for 20 minutes, they let us back in to the restaurant. Our dishes were lukewarm at best, but since it was such an amazing meal, I just started eating. Our server came over and said that they were making new meals for everyone and they didn't expect us to eat half-cold food. After a short 20 minute wait, we had new entrees and felt lucky to be able to enjoy 1& 1/2 amazing meals. They handled the "crisis" admirably!

June 26th Yak & Yeti (lunch) & 50s Prime Time
Y&Y as others have mentioned is nothing special, but it was a cool place to escape the oppressive Animal Kingdom heat. To be honest, I can't even remember what we ordered so it must have been mediocre at best.

50s Prime Time - DHS was a ghost-town the night we were there due to constant rain so we were some of the only people in the restaurant at 6pm that night. DH and I had the meatloaf and DS had the fried chicken. The food was good - nothing spectacular, but it's really more about the atmosphere and cast interaction than the food anyway, IMHO. Our server was funny without being over the top. One server made a customer stand in the corner for not eating her vegetables. DS was just glad it wasn't him :)

June 27th - Fulton's Crab House
I was really nervous about this restaurant based on reviews, but we liked the food. DS and DH split the crab & lobster feast for two which took them hours to eat! I opted for the salmon which was good - nothing spectacular, but not bad. Don't know if I would go there again - it's not cheap for what you get, but the meal wasn't bad.

June 29th CRT-Dinner
CRT is a very special meal for us since we ate here on our honeymoon 10 years ago. The format is different now with the prix-fixe plan, but the food and atmosphere was good. DS and I had the prime rib and DH had the lamb. Unfortunately, we only had butter knives to cut the meat with. Is there a rule against steak knives in the MK? :) DS also had the corn and crab soup which was amazing! Should have ordered that but the BLT salad was really good too. Highlights of the evening - watching a marriage proposal and seeing a family win a night's stay in the castle. Can you say jealous! We were :)

June 30th - California Grill
Great meal. Great atmosphere. Great server = all around greatness :)
We had dinner reservations at 7:30 so we went up a little early to get a drink as the restaurant was running about 20 minutes behind. We had great seats in the "bar" area next to the window overlooking MK. We were so comfortable and enjoying our wine that our server (Kevin - who was amazing) said we were welcome to just eat dinner there as we wouldn't get a better view in the restaurant. He even encouraged us to linger and take our time so we could watch the fireworks from our seat. The view and food were just superb! DS and DH has the filet with teriyaki BBQ sauce (on the side) and I had the brioche encrusted halibut. Their filets were great, and my halibut was good albeit a little bland. For dessert, DH and DS had the molten chocolate cake and I had the Banana and Butterscotch "Buzz" which is probably one of the best desserts ever! What a great way to end our trip.
