I'm just back from 7 days at WDW and it was a good trip, but quite a bit more crowded than I expected. I usually go the 1st or 2nd week of May and I was thinking the crowds would be similiar, but it was alot more crowded than my May trips have been. We did MNSSHP on Tuesday 10/21 and it was packed. A CM told my sister it was the most crowded MNSSHP she'd seen so far.
We arrived Sunday, got to OKW about 1:15pm, our rooms weren't ready so we headed over to DHS to catch Block Party Bash. It was cute, but I don't need to see it again. After the parade we ate at Prime Time, it was okay, but our server was pretty blah. You could tell she was sick of doing the "Mom" routines.
I thought DHS was pretty darn crowded, but I thought it might be since it was an evening EMH and MK was having a MNSSHP. I was supposed to meet up with ADP (Aaron) by the FP machines for TSM, but somehow my sister and I got seperated and her cell wasn't working, so I missed our meet looking for my sister.
My first DIS'er meet and I blew it.
Monday we went to Epcot which was good. Beautiful weather, reasonable crowds.... $150 for the Princess Breakfast in Norway
my mom said the food was free, but it was $150 to meet the princesses.
Soarin' had the worst wait times of course, but we got FP's for that. Then we headed over to MK about 5:30pm for Spectro and Wishes and it was packed. Shoulder to shoulder. I planned on that too since with MNSSHP parties, it was one of the few nights in the week to see Wishes, but I still wasn't quite prepared for wall to wall stupid crowded.
Tuesday we hung out at the hotel....the kid's were in the pool when it got evacuated because, well, because.....someone "evacuated" IN the pool.
Then we went over to DTD for our Boutique appointments. The girls looked awesome and my nephew got a Cool Dude do which was also really cute. After we ate at T-Rex...it was much quieter than Kevin said in his review, but it was also not at all crowded. One whole room wasn't even being seated and each of the other rooms only had 3 or 4 tables seated. Only a couple other kids were doing Build-A-Dinosaur so no line there either and they were not doing the loud party announcements Kevin was talking about. The kids LOVED T-Rex. I thought it was okay, I wouldn't go back there on my own though. Dinners were expensive, but we just got sandwhiches, so our bill wasn't too bad.
We got to MK about 5:30pm for MNSSHP. It was PACKED. Again, shoulder to shoulder. I noticed alot of British accents the whole trip and alot of little kids, 3, 4 and 5 year olds. The candy lines and character lines were loooooooong. We only did 2 treat spots, because I wasn't waiting in lines for candy. I even gave up the last part of Hallowishes so I could get a spot for the last Boo to You Parade. I made my way over to Liberty Square before HalloWishes ended to find a good spot. We stayed until midnight and it was still very crowded even up until the very end.
Wednesday we went back to DHS, I did the Imagineer Lunch again (and really enjoyed it again) the park looked very crowded, but the wait times for TOT and RNR were only 10 minutes. TSM had the longest wait, of course, and that was 70 minutes.
Then we headed over to AK, got there at 3pm and went right to Kilimanjaro Safari. We watched the Jammin Jungle parade near the safari enterance, then turned around and walked right on to that after the parade went by. We did the last FOLTK show and it was full, but we had good seats. After FOLTK the park really cleared out (it was a PM EMH open til 9pm) we did EE 3 times in a row, just got off and walked right back on. I really enjoyed AK at night. It was cooler and is really pretty a night. I would do a PM EMH there again.
Thursday we slept in and then headed over to Epcot again, got FP's for Soarin and did some shopping, then we toured the monorail hotels, had a quick bite at Captain Hook's at the Poly and hung out til our Cinderella dinner at GF. I was disappointed in the Cinderella dinner. The food was ok, but everything seemed just luke warm and the kid's offerings were not that great. Pizza
corn, mashed potatoes and roasted chicken. I didn't get the chicken. The kids wouldn't eat it because it didn't look cooked, I wish they would have put out fried chicken or even chicken nuggets for the kids. My nephew had some corn and mashed potatoes and a half a piece of pizza.
Also the characters seemed VERY rushed. Last time we did this dinner, we had alot more character time. This time they just sort of flew by, signed the books, quick picture and done.
After dinner we went back to Epcot, rode Soarin' twice and walked around WS until Illuminations. It rained off and on, but thankfully cleared up just a few minutes before Illuminations.
Friday we went back to MK...again rather crowded, plus drizzly rain and muggy. We walked on Pirates of the Carribbean, no wait at all, but Jungle Cruise had a 45 minute wait time??? Flying Carpets was 20 minutes. Weird.
Just a note, you can no longer get Figaro fries with lettuce and tomato even upon request. I asked for the lettuce and tomato when I ordered and the register girl said fine, but then the manager came out and told me they are not doing that anymore, I said I heard you could still ask for the lettuce and tomato and he said no, they stopped taking that request last week. Now you can only get them with the chili and cheese.
All in all we had a wonderful time. The kids loved it, loved it, but I prefer early May. It was too muggy and crowded for me this week. Early May can be hot, but it is alot drier and I think much less crowded.
Another note...OKW needs elevators. We had a 2 bedroom villa on the 3rd floor. Oh, MAN was that a hike up those stairs at the end of the day. I tried to get moved to a 1st or 2nd floor room, but they were booked Sunday night. I really felt bad for the bellman...I can't imagine lugging luggage up and down all those stairs everyday. I know a few of the buildings there do have elevators, but ours didn't and I can't imagine why they didn't just put them in to begin with. I love OKW though and the 2 bedroom was seriously huge, we enjoyed it very much, but I can see where some people say the furniture could use updating.
I will post some pictures when I dig out my camera. Including our Dole Whips for Bawb one. It came out pretty cute.
