Just Back from The World!
Wonderful trip. Stayed at the Grand Floridian, They Upgraded us to the Royal Palm Concierge level (Best Upgrade ever) after our original room was right next to the daytime construction. Honestly, the noise from 9am to 4pm is obnoxious lots of beeping, banging hissing, shouting, you know, construction noises. The Manager was very kind and very undrestanding...Can't say enough about the disney method of handling issues.
Learned an important lesson about EMH's. Simply don't go to the park on those days. Sunday 9/19 was brutal in the MK. Now I've read a hundred times on this board not to go to a park when they have EMH's, I told my wife about those threads...she decided to ignore my insight. WE paid.
A note about MNNSHP. Do it. This is a wonderful party. The park is decked out to the nines. Low numbers of guests and you essentialy have the run of the park. Not to mention the fireworks display will bring you to tears.
A note on the monorail system. I feel it has been so overburdened it doesn't function properly as a transportation system. I love the Kitche idea of the monorail, but it can't transport the guests effciently simply because of the sheer number of guests trying to use it. Plus the system is rather inflexible as a concept. If one train breaks down (Which happened at an alarming rate while we were there) the whole system clogs almost to the point of complete gridlock. Add to that having to handle handicapped guests/ECV's, the system simply can't perform.
We loved all the parks...The construction at the MK was disappointing, but it has to be done. There was however a LArge crane installing lights on the castle the whole time we were there. Really marrs the picutres, but hey, what can ya do.
A note on EPCOT, There is so much wasted space in EPCOT. The wife and I decided they need to do another round of Imagineering on what the year 2100 is going to look like then fill up that wasted space in EPCOT with that. It currently feels dated and not relevant to the theme of Experimental Prototype City. This current prototype has run its course and a new one needs to be introduced.
Next time we go we are going to arrive on a sunday night, and leave on a sunday morning. The crowd levels during the week were very low but on saturday and sunday, it gets out of control.
I'm sure there is more I'll want to say in a little bit. But overall Disney is still the premire vacation area. They know how to impliment all aspects of a vacation experience. My hat is off to them.
