Recap: mom2of2, DH, DS12 and DS5 2nd trip to the Mouse House!
Wednesday
8am PS for CMC. I really like this breakfast! The food is de-lish and it feels more laid back then CM. We all stuff ourselves silly and enjoy just being there. The characters aren't all over us here either but that's ok, we're old hat now and the boys don't really mind not being fussed over. We walk on over to the boat launch and pass by SB on the way. The boys both see the shipwreck slide and want to go swimming but I explain that it's for "guests only" and that maybe someday we will stay there. DH agrees. We both really like the conveince of the Boardwalk resorts. We hop on a boat to MGM from there. I really like MGM, it's my 2nd fav..MK being my first love. We walk over to ToT and there really isn't a line here either. It's basically a walk on. DS5 won't ride this at all so me and him wait for DS12 and DH intending to parent swap. DH walks out first and says that the ride is great now with the seatbelts and that I need to go on. My tummy is still way too full with all the grits and whatnots that I ate so I pass this time. We head over to WWTBAM and walk right in. We all love this and really enjoy the show. We did backlot, let the kids hit the Shrunk playground and decided to have a late lunch at 50's Prime Time. Well the dessert viewfinder had some really appealing desserts and we are on vacation so lets skip the good stuff and hit the GREAT stuff first. DH and DS12 get the Dad's Sundae's and I got a cheesecake while DS5 got the PB&J. Not bad, not bad at all. We head out and DS12 wants to do ST's and I need to sit, it's HOT! so he head's over there alone and there isn't a line there either. On his way back to us I notice that his brand new $21 visor that I just BOUGHT isn't on his head!!! I head to 50's just in case he left it there while he heads back to ST's to check. We both have no luck so his visor is history. I'm not buying another one. It's 3 pm and beginning to rain so we hit WWTBAM again, again good show. I really wanted to do some shows but we're hot, sticky and wet so we call it a day and head back to get our car. We get back to our room and our housekeeper had made fans out of everything she could. My pj's are on my pillow folded and the pillows all arranged with the bed turned down. AWWW thank you! Hit the manager's reception and the jacuzzi and the restaurant and call it a day.
Thursday
We are gonna try out DQ. With our discounts it still cost us close to $100 to get in. The place is huge though! We start out with Alladin's carpets and this is cool, DS5 won't try it though and stands by and watches. We then did jungle cruise (DS5 watched) and then DH took him to try out the video games. Me and DS12 did Pirates and then headed over to the virtual rollercoaster. DH12 didn't know that you rode the coaster that you built so the look on his face was priceless when he found out. We had a 3 star coaster with 6 inverts. It was really fun but the 5 sec's of video that they showed us at the end did not flatter me and I wasn't buying the video. Thank god we had our radio's with us because finding someone in DQ is impossible!!! We had some lunch and then split the crew up again, this time I took DS5 and we hit the arcade games. I got to play games I haven't played in 20 years! funny thing is I still remembered the sequences. So Mr. DO and Galaga and I killed about 2 hours. By this time we had been at DQ about 6 hours!!! WOW! We hooked back up with the crew and went on a few more things before calling it a day. We all agreed that we enjoyed ourselves but me and DH agreed that unless admission came with our tickets we would not spend $100 + for it again. Headed back through DtD and hit some stores before the PHONE CALL came. Ready for this?? We had an earthquake at home!! a 3.8 and I guess it did a little damage in our town. Our house is fine thank god! But an EARTHQUAKE in Central West JERSEY????!!!!!! We just kind of shook our heads, called our parents and headed back to CbM. What a day.
Friday
Now I'm a surprise person. I like to give them but not receive! The boys thought that today was check out and head home. They had part of it right. I packed us all up and told them we were hitting Epcot and then swapping the stroller. That part was true. We went over to Epcot and me and DS12 hit the sphere....forget what it's called but DS5 wanted nothing to do with it. We then headed over to TT but the line was long and DS5 said he wasn't doing that either so we decided to check out MS. It was a walk on so DH and DS12 went first. I took DS5 over to the kiddie wait area and let me just say that this is the BEST!! He loved crawling through the tubes and had a ball. I on the other hand must have watched 4 missions taking place. I was a little worried about DH and DS12 since they were gone for so long....about 45 min so I went up to a CM who told me that one of the simulators had gone down so they had to get everyone off and move them to another part of the building. We wound up waiting another 15 min or so before they came out. DH said I had to go on this one so me and DS12 went to get on. It was great!! I was the commander in a ship full of men, gotta love that! The ride is great! We were only gone for 15 min and DH was really surprised that we were done so fast. DS5 didn't want to leave the kiddie area so we hung out for a while trying out the different things. When we finally left MS and walked back over to TT the ride was down. The CM said that a big storm was coming and the ride was shut down. Oh well! So we pulled out the rain gear and headed for the countries. First stop..Mexico. We head to the boat and tell DS5 that it's like IASW in MK (he loves that ride) I get DH a Dos Eqius? and we head to Norway. Malestrom is open, no line so we tell DS5 the same line and go on this ride too. He's a little scared of the trolls and tells us "No more small worlds!" we lol at that. DS gets anothe beer and we head for China to see the acrobats. It's raining so they have the show inside and we all love it!! The boys want to go back on the Viking ship so they head back over there while me and DH sit and enjoy the scenery. Time to head over to Germany and we get Gummi Bears and wander through the shops. DH doesn't want a Beck's beer here for $6+ and our stroller swapper has called so it's time to head over to her hotel to swap. The boys are dissappointed but DH tells them that we will be back again to WDW soon. We head for ASMu for the swap and I let DS12 knock on the door. Who opens it but KathleenFL!!! She's my pic cohort in the Stroller Swap and the boys both know her from our last trip. We walk into the room and I hand the boys a key card for the next room over and tell them to go check out our room! They are both shocked to find out that we aren't leaving for home! we are staying HERE!!! Before long it's time to head back over to Epcot for our PS at the Rose and Crown. We don't get a patio seating but are inside. I get the Bangers and Mash and it's good, not a whole lot of food but good. We get to the VIP standing area just in time for Illuminations and enjoy yet another spectacular viewing. Time to head back to ASMu. We are in Broadway on the 3rd floor. The boys all settle into our room while I hit Kathleen's and we spend the rest of the night looking through the scrapbook and checking out what supplies are needed for the goodie bag. A lot of swappers/sitters took a lot of time doing their pages and we enjoyed reading about where the stroller has been and with whom. It was getting really late (12:30am) and I was exhausted so I headed back to my room for some sleep. Sometime in the middle of the night I started feeling really bad and wound up in the bathroom most of the night. Think I got about 3 hours sleep at the most.
Saturday
Ugh it's morning already. I feel like I have a hangover. Great, sick without booze! I give DH and the boys tickets and they head back over to Epcot to ride MS again and take in the rest of the countries while me and KathleenFL hit the Character Outlet. Just as I am trying on a great Mickey watch I get a call from DH. The tickets I gave them aren't any good, no days left! crud!! gave them the wrong ones. Arrange for them to take the bus to CBR where we will pick them up. I love CBR. It's just homey to me. We went to OPR to meet up with the crew and grab some lunch. KathleenFL and DS12 decided to hit Epcot while I layed down and DH took DS5 to the ASMu pool. We went to Epcot, waited until DS12 used his ticket and then we went to the bus's. Our bus was waiting for us so we headed back. When DS12 and KathleenFL got back from Epcot DH and DS5 went to MK. After KathleenFL took a nap we headed over to the Poly and rode the monorail (up front!!) to MK to hook up with our crew. We strolled into Frontierland and claimed a spot across from Pecos Bill on the bridge by SPl Mt. to watch Spectro. DH and DS5 joined us shortly before the parade began. They had gone on Buzz twice and did the Indy cars. Specto was GREAT!!! I hadn't seen it before and it was worth seeing! After Spectro DS12 wanted to go on Spl Mt but my stomach still wasn't up for it so we waited on the bridge. We had a great view of the fireworks and again saw Tink fly. We then hit Aladdin, no line and I got hit by the Camel twice! Got a DoleWhip and headed out of MK just as the late Specto was starting so we did get to see the beginning again. Back on the monorail to the Poly and I watched the castle change colors for the last time this year.
My heart hurt a little since I really don't know when we will be back but DH said for me to start thinking about a return trip. HA! got him HOOKED!!!
Sunday
The trip home. Got a late start, almost 8:30 am. The trip was uneventful till we hit Georgia where DH wasn't going with the flow of traffic although that's what he told the nice officer that stopped us. Needless to say 85 in a 70 doesn't get you a warning in Georgia. I was a little ...ok a lot miffed that he was going so fast since I had just TOLD him to slow down. Anyway we stopped twice to eat sit downs (gotta love Cracker Barrel) and made it home at 3:30AM. No water in the house, dog hair everywhere (vaccum cleaner throwing sparks at the house sitter) and my phone is dead. Gremlins???? who knows but our "cheap trip" was anything but and the "fly by the seat of our pants" wasn't how we'd like to do WDW next time. I need a PLAN, they need me to have a PLAN. An although we paid $89.00 for 2 nights at ASMu we all decided that we would much rather stay at CBR, BC or Poly next time. ASMu just isn't us. All in all we did have a great time. The crowds were fine with the exception of MK on Saturday night...never again!! It still amazes me that pple think you have to pay for FP and wait in long lines! I'm already looking into "next time".....until then...
