We never thought that we would be able to return to WDW so soon after our first ever trip in March but with the great rate they were running at the CBM in DtD who could turn it down? $111.65 for 5 nights? No brainer! We had 1 hopper day left and 3 plus's and we were driving so cheap trip right? About a month before we left KathleenFL suggests that we extend our trip 2 nights and book 2 rooms at ASMu. OK do that. Then I think "geez we should have more park days" OK buy 3 day hoppers, 1 plus. Then the van should have tires....get them and then less then a week before my mil pulls out of watching our dog. OK get a dog sitter. Do you see a trend here? DH decides that we should drive straight through to Daytona. 14 hours, not bad. Get a room, beach front from Best Western $60. We also get a converter for the van so the boys can watch TV and play X-box on the way down. What DH fails to do is read the "destructions" and we keep hearing BEEPS about 4 hours into the boys playing games. After a gas and go the van starts to act up and actually shuts off midway in a turn! WHAT!!!??? I quick pull the converter out and grab the INstructions and see that the BEEPS mean that we are draining the battery!!!! I'm freaking out the remainder of the way to Daytona! We get there and the hotel is NICE! the room is huge and looks out onto the beach. I call my mother at home to brag about what I'm looking at. She's jealous and had no idea that WDW was so close to Daytona. We get a good nights rest and then in the AM head to the Speedway. On the way there I call our sitter to see how the dog is doing and she asks why we shut our water off? WHAT???!!!!! WE HAVE NO WATER???!!! I of course start to loose it at this point. Call my dad to ask him to go over and find out if maybe the well pump breaker went? He'll call us later with an update. Ok, we are in Daytona, 1000 miles from home, can't do anything about the house so lets enjoy while we can. We did the speedway tour and if you are a Nascar junkie like we all are you will love it! We spend a while here and then head to WDW. We stop at a NAPA store to get a new battery..just in case. Now there is something about just driving through the gates of WDW. I get all goosebumpy and start bouncing up and down in my seat while reaching over DH to blow the horn! The boys all think I'm nuts.
We got to CbM at DtD and the hotel is nice, our room isn't ready yet but we hang out at the pool for about 45 min till it is. We meet others waiting from Jersey too and ask if they got the rate that we got. Seems that they booked late (June) and were only able to get the rate for 2 days and then a higher one for the remainder. We finally get our key cards and head up, 3rd floor tower room 302. This room is BIG! Has it all! Internet, Nintendo, coffee pot, hair dryer, iron/board. The works. We decide to go hit the pool. There are 3. One large, a smaller one and a kiddie pool as well as a large hot tub. We call my dad for an update and find that he called my DH's stepdad for a consult. Lucky us, DH's SD is in the well business. We find out that the well pump is blown. Great. We frolick around a while and decide that we should get moving to the Contemp for our PS at CM. Food is good as it was last time but the characters don't interact with us as much. Oh well, no biggie. We have a PS at CMC later in the week. We decide to hit MK in the AM and head back to CbM.
Monday
I am up bright and early, 6ish I think and I make my coffee and head out to our balcony to just soak in the fact that we are at WDW and not home with no water. The crew gets moving and we are at MK by 9. Head straight to Buzz and there is no line at all. Ride once, then again and as we go to get off the CM asks if we want to ride again? Think it has anything to do with the fact that DS5 is wearing a Buzz helmet? Ok so a third time and then we need a break, my trigger finger hurts. DH takes DS5 to ride tea cups and me and DS12 head to SP Mt. it too is a walk on and we enjoy the ride. We had agreed to meet in about a 1/2 hour but we were done 20 min early so DH12 went into the arcade while I waited for the rest of my crew. Seems that DS5 wanted to ride Buzz AGAIN. They were able to ride tea cups and Buzz in less then a 1/2 hour and we were on our way! So back to tea cups and Dumbo and the carousel where we caught Merlin doing a show. Cute by the way. Did Pooh and checked out Tink's shop. Caught Cinderella's show and decided to head out since DS12 hurt his ankle walking the curb. Had to stop at first aid for an ace bandage and ice. Decided to try out the barber shop and DH went first, I tried to talk him into colored gel but he wasn't having it. The CM did put on glow in the dark gel! DS5 went next and I got a great pic of the CM holding up the super size scissors over his head. We needed a break so headed back to the hotel. After a swim, in which DH washed the gel out of his hair, we headed back to MK to see the fireworks and hope that Tink would fly. We positioned ourselves for her flight and weren't dissappointed since she flew right in front of us. DS5 loves Tink and this was his highlight.
Tuesday
Up and at em for Typhoon Lagoon. DS5 has turned into a water rat this summer so we knew that we would have a great time. We did! The wave pool is really cool but it does bounce you around a lot and we all have scapes to prove it. We went down the slopes in tubes, did the family one and then the body slides. I didn't think DS5 would do them but he did and loved it. Ketchakiddie is cute but DS5 did better at the bigger stuff and really enjoyed the wave pool. We spent about 5 hours at TL and when the sky darkened at 3 we called it a day. I had made plans to meet judirain for the stroller swap at the YC boat launch at 8pm so telling DH that all I had to do was get the stroller we headed to the boardwalk. I spotted judirain with the stroller and walked over to her. I introduced my crew and then informed DH that not only were we getting the stroller but we were taking an Illuminations Cruise in honor of his birthday! Ok so I didn't get the jumping up and down reaction that I myself would have given but DH is quiet and I got a smile so I knew that I did good. We also met llrain and his GF for the cruise. It was very enjoyable and yes, we would do it again. We spent the remainder of the night talking with judi and her DH out front of ESPN arcade while our combined 5 kids played in the arcade. It was a nice night and we all enjoyed ourselves.
