Just returned from a great stay @ POR 1/1 -1/6. We got all of our requests: top floor, corner room in AB 27 - room 2736. Bus service, mousekeeping (got elaborate towel animals & sheets changed when asked), & food court (all stations open & Vanilla Coke now an option) were great. The resort was full, but other than our noisy next door neighbors who let their kids literally scream & run around in their room after 11pm, we hardly noticed other folks. We used the main pool, hot tub, and the quiet pool. Bob & the piano bar were hopping over the weekend! If you have any questions, please ask.:D

Hi!

Welcome Home!

I have some good friend that will be there on the 31st so I have a few questions:

1. How far was it from "Everything", meaning the food court, buses, etc.? Would it be convenient for someone with 2 little ones?

2. What was the view from your room?

3. How long was the walk to the buses and food court?

4. Did it have a trundle bed or are those on request?

I really appreciate all you help. I am glad you had a great time.
Isn't it fun getting the towel creations?

Thank You,
Wendi

Twood, So glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay!
I have a question. The only moderate in which we have stayed has been POFQ. We loved that resort! Everything was very compact, cozy, close to everything. I doubt that any of the buildings were more than a 5 minute walk to the bus stop, food court, pool, etc.
When our bus made the stops at RS, it looked huge and that has made me afraid to try RS. (DH can get lost on our cul-de-sac, heaven forbid I let him loose at WDW... ;) :p )
Is everything really as far and spread out as it seems from the bus loop? I'd love to try RS sometime, and that has been the major reason that we have not.

Hi Wendy!
AB 27 is the 3rd building down from the food court, so it's just a short easy stroll on the main path. I think the location is great because it's easy to find & surrounded by lush landscaping, so no parking lot views. The main pool is right over the bridge and a quiet pool is near by, so a laundry facility is close by also. Of course, AB 14 is closer to the food court, so tell your friend to request it first, followed by AB 27. Both are nice choices for little ones due to their easy to find locations. We had a trundle bed & didn't ask for one. We used the South depot - it's easy to find, close by, & there are several ways to get there. Hope this helps.:D

Thank You so much. I am forwarding the information over to her
now. One more quick question:

I am guessing from your description that it is close to the Main Building where the food court is? Am I correct of that?

Thank You,

Wendi

We just got back as well from our stay at POR.

Was bummed that we didn't get any towel animals:( but other than that the resort was great and I highly recomend it. We stayed at the Acadian House, one of the Mansions on Magnolia bend. We were about a 7 minute walk to the food court, General Store and Lobby. We were a 4 minute walk to the North Depot bus stop. Some of the Mansions look like they could be up to a 10-15 minute walk to the food court.

One of the things that I loved was the mellow atmosphere. After a day of loud noise, crowds and lots of colors it was nice to comeback to a peaceful resort. The main pool could get a little loud, it was usually packed(up to 3 lifeguards on duty) in the afternoon but we found that there were only a handful of people at the quite pools(no lifeguards). We spent a couple of hours there just resting our aching bodies in the sun.

The boat to Downtown Disney was a nice touch as well.

Hi TWOOD!

So glad to hear good things about POR - we'll be staying there in Feb. I had originally requested AB27 but then read somewhere that this was a smoking building. Is this true? Also, was your room regular or waterview?

Thanks.

Glad you had a great time. Did they have diet vanilla coke or just regular? Thanks.

Is Parterre Place reasonably close to the main pool, a bus stop, and/or the food court?

This site has great maps of all the resorts
None of the buildings at Riverside are more than 5 minutes to the main building. (and I hate to walk)

Have a great time. IMHO Riverside (always will be Dixie to me) is the best landscaped and most relaxing resort in all WDW.
