Well, I just returned from my first girls only trip to WDW. (Missed my kids a lot) Stayed at my Home BCV and was able to get my favorite 1 bedroom - 471. This room has a direct view of spaceship earth, illuminations is off to the right a bit and the canel and road are directly below, the balcony goes the whole length of the 1 bedroom unit. We did see the alligator twice so he/she is still there. We had a wonderful time. My firend who had been to WDW as a child when the only thing there was Magic Kingdom was amazed. She was a bit overwhelmed with the size of WDW. She also loved the villas and wondered why everyone wouldn't stay in them. The weather was a bit cold the last 2 days, but all in all the trip was great!

Terry -

Thanks for the brief report. Did you get 471 by coincidence or did you request it? Just curious as to how often that happens that you get the exact same room.

zulaya... yes, I did request this room, I know that most people on this board say this is not a good idea though, because if this room is not available you never know what you will get. So, I consider myself lucky!

Glad you had a great trip -- always a bonus when you get your request. :)

Isn't it fun to see people's reactions to the "new" WDW?

Terry,

Glad you had a great time and Welcome back home!

Our trip over Easter to BCVs is finally getting closer. I am also going in June for a "girls weekend" too, and can't wait, but this time we are going to stay at OKW!

Did you end up doing any Spa things?

Hi Terry!

Glad you and your friend had a great trip and you got a room you really liked. Was there anything special that really "wowed" your friend?

Donna

Pinnie... You will have a ball on your girls trip. Didn't get to the spa this time, we just didn't have enough time. There is so much to do on a first trip (hers not mine, of course).

Donna.... I think the words "Wow" came out of her mouth about 100 times during the trip. Right from the start she was impressed and some of it was not really my doing. They called us to the desk at the airport and asked if we would mind being upgraded to first class, so that was nice. Our town car driver would not let us touch the doors or our bags, she felt like royalty. Then we got to our room and I had decided to surprise her so I didn't tell here we would be in a 1 bedroom, she assumed we would be in a regular room with 2 queen size beds, so that really wowed her. She was also really impressed with the service and friendlieness of the CM's. There was no broom in the room so I called and it appeared 5 minutes later.
Busses and boats were showing up this whole vacation within 5 minutes of us walking up to them or sooner. She really loved both Illuminations and Fantasmic. One night we went and watched Illuminations from Epcot and one night we watched it from our balcony, she really enjoyed that. It was just a magical vacation right from the start to the end. (With the exception of record low temps on our last day) She will definatly be able to go home and tell all those negative friends of hers, that there is a lot for adult friends to do in WDW.

Terry, Love the "would you "mind" being upgraded"! Sounds like a great trip, it's nice to be able to go and not be a mom for a few days!(even though we always miss the little buggers!)

Terry,

Thanks! Your report is a real antidote for all those "WDW is going downhill because of all the cutbacks" posts one sees.

Did the "downgrade" from two queen beds to a king and a sleeper sofa cause any problems?

Terry, so glad you and your friend had a magical trip!

How crowded were the villas, SAB and Beaches & Cream?

I'm kinda glad to hear the gator is still around. I don't want any harm to come to anyone, but it's fun to look for "Allie" in the canal!

Terry
That sounds like a great trip. WDW without the kids is a different trip!

So, how did you order up all of that extra magic for your friend?

Thanks again everyone! My friend can't say enough to everyone about how great of a time we had.

kem330... They moved us to first class so that a family could sit together, we were unable to sit together in first class, I think that is why they asked if we minded, but I did that that was kind of funny, like anyone would say no.

erikthewise.... My friend walked in the door and started to say OMG every few steps she took, then she realized there was another room to the left (the master bedroom) and she saw the jaccuzzi tub and said OMG again! It was great! As far a cutbacks, I certainly didn't notice any, the magic was definatly still there in full force!

DoeWDW..... I think the crowds were pretty light for the time of year. Our family normally goes in October and May and I expected it to be much busier at the end of March, but it was about the same as our normal trips crowd wise so I think crowds were lighter then normal.

nezy.... I am really not sure how the extra magic came, I am just glad it did. We said several times each day, "this luck we are having can't continue" but it did!

Maistre Gracey... Can't really help with the bunch of women thing? I think Mrs. Gracey might not be too happy!

Thanks all, it was a truly wonderful magical trip and now I am trying to figure out how to buy more points so that we can do a yearly girls trip? Not sure if I can get away with that though, my husband and kids had a hard enough time with this one!
