We had the most amazing holiday...a trip I would recommend to anyone. We started in San Francisco and drove down the coast ending up in Anaheim and DL (of course!) with overnights along the way. California is so beautiful and there is so much to do we could have easily spent a month there. We finished with 3 days in DL..we had a great time but my kids still prefer WDW if they had to choose. It was really neat to compare the 2 as some rides are better in WDW and some are better at DL. Toy Story Mania just recently opened (not sure if the WDW is open yet) but it is one of the most fun rides I have ever been on. We were on Soarin during the earthquake so we didn't even know it had happened until we exited the ride and the park was shutting the rides down for maintenance check. Oh yeah...we also got dream fast passes on our last day which was a great way to end our holiday!

Sounds like a great vacation!

We used to live in CA and I agree - there is tons to do there.

Did you do Carmel and Monterey on your way down from SF? It's one of our favorite areas.

Next time, you should start in San Diego and go north. SD is just beautiful.

DW and DL are so different aren't they? What did you think of California Adventure? My DH says they are changing a lot of it.

Glad you were safe in the earthquake!

We stopped in Santa Cruz, Carmel, overnights in Monterey and Pismo Beach, 3 nights in Santa Monica and 4 nights in Anaheim. I wanted to go down to San Diego but we ran out of time..our next trip there would be 2 weeks just in Southern California. I was surprised how cold San Fran is...we had to buy an extra jacket for the Alcatraz tour but it was hot everywhere else. I liked DL and CA for the fact you could walk between the 2 easily but CA didn't feel very "Disney" to me even though there are many of the same rides. My DH noticed that in Orlando as soon as you step off of the plane all you see is Disney everything but in Anaheim we might have seen 1 billboard advertising DL. I love some of those little rides in DL's Fantasyland that aren't in MK though!
