Just back from a whirlwind trip to Florida!

We stayed a night at the Royal Pacific and had a wonderful time! We were in room 3510 Tower 3, 5th floor, not far from the elevator, and it's a lock off to a larger suite with double doors. It's a King bed with a fab view!

It's a lovely sign, never eaten there though.

We were there on Saturday and thankful we had FOTL. I have one pic of wait times I will post when I find it. lol
There were LONG lines at the ticket counter, and it took forever to get through the gates. I wish they had an AP (or Premier AP) gate lol

And while it looks empty in the above photos, I caught the Emeril walk way just as a large group moved out of the picture and right before people walked in I was amazed I got a clear shot. Also the empty boat queue was in the afternoon heading back to the park (Had to drop off our Mythos Glass and we grabbed coats for the FREEZING weather!!!!

Friday at Busch Gardens was walk on everything!

Awesome pics!! HRRR looks awesome!!!!! Here's hoping it opens soon!

Ok More Pics

When we first walked in we saw this...

They passed them out in the alleyway between the Universal Store and Jimmy Newtron.

At 630ish the line was 4 switchbacks long, going all the way back to the wall

Took about 15-20 mintues to get through. Only Premier and Preferred AP holds get the necklace.

The line was just as long around 8. Seems there are unique beads being handed out on some night or something. Didnt pay too much attention to that. But I can say oodles and oddles of locals and tonz of Senior citizens, many totally decked out in their Mardi Gras Finest.

Lots of stuff for you to buy

I looked at the bead prices and they were around 7 bucks for the non lighted ones. Later I noticed ones that light up, but didnt check the prices, sorry.

I dont have a picture of the AP necklace, I will take one tomrrow when i unpack them.

Here is where the "second stage" was set up..... Big Red was playing the night we went, and it was toe tapping :-)

Near by was the food area

And the Menu

P1000468.jpg

I had the Red Beans and Rice and DH had the Hogie (audulle sausage (sp)) I would definatly say the Red Beans were mildly spicey, but there were a couple of notch kicker uppers available, tabasco and some other cajun hot sauce.

Here is one of the many bars set up in the nearby area (it might be sideways sorry)

Here is the opposite view of the second stage, Mel's Diner and HRRR in the background....

The Main stage. This was taken over by the Horror Make Up show

Mardi Gras Really Draws a crowd, many come later in the afternoon and many dress up and show off their beads.

Here is a shot of the big screen with the Stage beyond it

Now I dont know if ALL the concerts will be set up this way. They changed the location of the AP viewing area to in front of the new stage, since the current stage is where it was going to be set up (according to Metro's email I think). I am not sure if the new stage just wasnt ready for KC and later acts will be there or what...

In Honesty we never made it back to the concert, Traveling Tigger went back, so hopefully she can fill in with some pictures of that.

And I ran out of memory on my card during the parade, but my pictures were lousy

Again I hope Barb's pics come out better lol

I will post more pictures tomorrow, but wanted to share this one...

This was Friday morning (we went to Busch Gardens that day)

We actually had to scrap the side windows off with a credit card, and there was enough to make a sloppy snowball with I lobbed at some unsuspecting kid lol

And as were were driving around we saw this street....

:lmao:

Wow! I didn't realize HRRR went that far back in the park!

The coaster goes from the front of the park all the way to the back of the park, I am kicking myself for not taking a picture of it at the end of it past Twister. lol

Great pics - I'm am really looking forward to our first Mardi Gras! :yay:

I hope the Sunshine State returns to form soon - that's the kind of weather we want to escape when we leave here! :rotfl: I won't feel so bad tomorrow morning when it's -5 and I'm de-icing the car just to do the school run now. :upsidedow

Me too...I've had it with these 30-40 degree temps. I didn't move here for that. This week is supposed to be really nice.

I get enough of Mardi Gras here at home. So I dont think I would want to run into it at Universal. Though Mardi Gras is alot of fun :)

Thanks for the pictures, especially of the new coaster from outside the park, haven't seen that yet. I can't wait to ride that thing already.

I'm staying at the RPR twice this summer. I can't wait!!!! Thanks for sharing!:thumbsup2
