Just back from the 4 day 10/28 Wonder cruise. We were sitting in our cabin somewhere between 11 pm and midnight when suddenly the power went out. Everything went black. Sat and waited for an announcement, but nothing. DH opened the slider and went out on the balcony and announced "we're not moving". It was a little scary for a few minutes. Out in the middle of the ocean. Not moving. Not knowing what was going on. The power came back on in a few minutes. About 10 mins later Capt. Henry came on the intercom telling us that we'd lost power but it had been restored.

Anyone else ever experience this on the Wonder?

Yes, we experienced this many, many years ago. It was so long ago that they still had the improv comedy! We were in the comedy club (where Diversions is now), and power went off during the midnight show. The performers were real troopers...they completed their skit in the emergency lighting, with no music. We had no clue what had happened, so we returned to our stateroom via the emergency lighting in the halls. Our room was totally black except for the moonlight coming in from the verandah. The next morning, we found out that there had been a problem with the engines, so we were adrift for a while till their got it fixed. Funny thing was, it happened so late at night that many people didn't realize it, and they were quite confused when we arrived late in Nassau...had no clue why!

Yes we were there! We did the same thing. DH went up to 9 and 10 to see if he could find anything out, but he couldnt.

We were wondering what happened as well.

Wow, are there emergency lights in the staterooms. I would hate to be in an inside room and have no light available.

We had a verandah, so it was not pitch black, but DH said that there was some "other" lights on up top when he went to check it out.

It was kinda funny, b/c everyone was out on there verandahs poking their heads over looking around.

It was a bit scary for a little while, when the ship was stopped.

I think lasted around 30 minutes or so???

We were on the SSMC06 10/22-26 and didn't have any problems but I just read this to DH and he said it's time to add FLASHLIGHT to our cruise packing list.

No, I think it was only about 5 mins. that the lights were out. It seemed like forever though. When the Capt finally came on with the announcement, didn't he say something about the power having gone out 10 minutes ago? or did he say 1/2 hr ago? I can't remember now. I know it wasn't out for 1/2 hr. I would have gotten too antsy by then. I could see some kind of emergency lights in the hallway under our door. One of the woman who sat with us at breakfast the next a.m. said that their room was on deck 1 and they could hear them trying to start the engine. She said it was like trying to start your car. They tried a few times until it finally "caught". It was a little eery just being dead in the water.

Was this the Oct 29th halloween 4 night wonder cruise? What night did this happen?

It was the last night around midnight.

I would have ran the hallways screaming "WE ARE SINKING!!! WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

I am having "Titanic" flash backs!

I have to do this too! We usually book a category 10 and I would hate to be in the stateroom with the kids with the lights out.

I was there too! It was around 11:30 pm and lasted no more than 5 minutes. I know because my son (6) was still awake and was trying to analyze why the power may have gone out for a good 30 minutes after the power came back on! :) We had a verandah also which gave us some light, but what was weird is that when I opened the cabin door, all of the hallway lights in our corridor were on. I expected emergency lighting, but the corridor was lit the same as always. Is the emergency lighting that good?

I guess I was thinking 30 minutes, b/c we were still in the water for a while. I know DH and I were up analyzing the sitting still in the water for a while. Maybe not 30 minutes, but more than 5, I know. And he even went up to the upper decks to see what was going on, and came back. So I know the whole "incident" was longer than 5 minutes.

Sorry to miss speak, did not mean to mislead anyone.

Apparently it happened around 11:35 - 11:40pm. My DH and I had just gone to bed at 11:30 and I turned the lights out to go to bed. However, others that we were travelling with were getting on the elevator to go to their rooms. One didn't make it on the elevator and had to walk from deck 2 to deck 7 and the others kind of just hung out and waited for the lights to come back on.

Our server in the morning was waiting for us to ask about it - he said we did start to lean a bit but I didn't notice any of that as I was sleeping!!!

Way late to the thread, but me and my GF were watching The Incredibles on the ArielView when the power went out. It was odd, but sorta awesome since it was such a clear night when it happened. :)
