Just got back yesterday. We stayed in a 1 bedroom for 5 nights and a studio for 3. We had room 5022 for the 1 bedroom. It was a Luna Park view on the 5th floor and it was a dedicated 1 bedroom. Only had one balcony (none off the bedroom) and we could see the really high fireworks. I absolutely loved this room and view! DH said he never wants to stay in a studio again :hyper: The jacuzzi tub was great (thanks to this board, I cleaned it when we checked in). Also the washer/dryer - I did 3 loads in 5 days!!! It was great.

Ok, the studio was a standard view room 4099. It was a dedicated studio plus (with the daybed). We had a fantastic view of the fireworks - could see 95% of them. Great room.

We had some issues checking in the first time. But we got them resolved.

Food and wine festival was great - Epcot was very crowded in the evenings. The parks were not overly crowded - we didn't wait more than 10 minutes for anything.

I had a massage at the health club which was great. And we also got room service which was wonderful ::yes::

Any questions - just ask!

I saw your post on the other thread that "room ready" did not work for you. Apparently, you ran afoul of the same "computer glitch" that others have reported at BWV.

I wonder if that glitch has anything to do with the massive reservation changes they had to make for the preferred rooms? We'll probably never know, but the good news is that should sort itself out in the future.

And...
DH said he never wants to stay in a studio again

...we tried to warn you! It's so hard to go back to a studio after a 1BR..at least for us that extra room and washer/dryer plus full sized fridge make it a must.

Can you say....."add on"?? :p

Hi,

Glad you had a good time!

I don't think the computer glitch had anything to do with the reservation changes they had to make for the BW preferred rooms. The problem was with the key card printing system. They could make key cards (so you could get into your room once it was ready), but they could not print anything on the cards. The problem affected both BWI and BWV guests. When the card printing was finally working (on Monday, 20 Oct.), they had to reprint my cards because the first two that were printed did not have all the characters fully formed, like the ink jets were partially clogged. The two cards we had that finally worked were numbers 05 and 06. I guess each card issued gets a unique sequence number. Our initial key cards without printing must have been 01 and 02, the next two cards that failed to print fully would have been 03 and 04, and our final two cards were 05 and 06.

Not having a key card with printed name and number meant that we could not use our room key for charges at the Food & Wine kiosks on the Sunday when we arrived. This turned out to be only a minor inconvenience, since we discovered as the week went on that the Palm-based card reader/receipt printer used in the kiosks were somewhat tricky for some CMs to master. They use a wireless PDA connection. We ended up with three duplicate charges (total of $13) on our room bill. The adjustment was made without difficulty by the front desk CM on the morning we checked out.

Yes Granny we will only be in a 1 bedroom from now on. The studio portion of our stay was on rented points from before we became members. (we also had a studio rented for the 5 nights we were in the 1 bedroom - but my sister ended up using that so we borrowed some points and upgraded to a one bedroom)

I knew that I wanted to stay in 1 bedrooms in the future, even before we stayed in one. But DH kept saying he did not want to "waste" the points. I officially have a convert now.

Studios will be ok for short little getaway trips (no more than 4 nights).

It had nothing to do with ressies. I had trouble at BWV and BCV between 7/8 am OCT 19 when I checked in at both . But they did get my cards to come out OK so it must have gotten worse later in the day according to other posters.

This has nothing to do with the OP, but thanks for posting this info. I am headed to the F&W festival soon and I was wondering if they were accepting room charges at the kiosks. Thanks for the heads up on the duplicate charges also, I will make sure to check my room bill carefully.

I am wondering the same thing about a 1 BR vs studio. Will be staying in 1BR in May next year for 7 nights and then going to book a studio in Nov. 4 nights for the F&W.

This is going to be a happy dilemma to solve next year, best of all either way it's WDW at BWV.

Thanks for your report!!

Oops...my bad! I must have gotten my glitches mixed up!

We actually didn't mind going down to a studio because it meant that we had 3 more days to stay. It is just that a 1 bedroom is so luxurious (sp?) that we felt very spoiled when we were in it.

If it meant either going to WDW for a quick trip in a studio or not going, I would absolutely stay in a studio. Have fun planning!!!
