I am just getting in from dinner at Jiko, and while the food was good our service was less server inviting. His name was Michael, and he was the most unfriendly server I have ever had at a Disney restaurant in my life. He didn't greet us in a way that was at all engaging. He flat out ignored me, he did refer to my husband as "sir" a few times, but he was just unfriendly. There was not an ounce of warmth. He didn't introduce the menu, or offer suggestions. He was almost kind of like the snooty waiter.

When our food was presented I tried mine, and it was cold. I wanted to send it back. We told him, and he took it right away-but he didn't apologize, he didn't tell me what he would do to rectify the situation, he didn't give me an update after he took the dish to the kitchen, I was just kind of in limbo and left to assume that he would bring something back.

The service wasn't bad per se, just unhelpful and unfriendly. I did not feel welcome at all. It was just an unsettling experience. At the end of the day there was really nothing we could do about it. We did not feel it warranted a chat with the manager, he did his job well at a basic level. He was just unfriendly. I just needed to vent. Sorry. This might be the wrong board...

Sorry for your experience. A server can sometime make or break a meal. We had the same type of service at Boatwright's two years ago. That, and the fact that the food was terrible, will make us not go back.

How was the food? We are thinking of trying it on our upcoming trip in September.

Sorry to hear of your less than stellar experience at Jiko's. We've always had over the top service, so I hope this is not a new norm.
I would suggest e-mailing Jiko's to let them know of your lackluster server. I don't have an e-mail address, perhaps someone else does.

It's Disney. You're not supposed to get a server who treats guests like that. I definitely think it warranted a comment with the manager. You should always expect at the very least, a pleasant server.

We went in Dec and had a similar experience with the server (female - can't remember her name) but we felt rushed and I'm sure she was watching us to see as soon as we had finished (we were hoping for a relaxing meal where we took our time). Needless to say we skipped desert prob won't go again in a hurry. I personally prefered the food at Boma. The food was ok at Jiko but not 'signature dining' IMHO.

Sad to hear that, we are planning to go there in our next trip. I hope we won't experienced the bad things you had.

Have a nice day everyone. :)
