Just thought I would let everyone know that we actually had no ressies at either Jiko or Brown Derby. Got to MGM on Saturday for SSW around 10:00 a.m. Went over to Brown Derby and inquired about lunch. Got a ressie at 1:50 that afternoon. No problem. Got there at 1:10 and they seated us right then at an outside table (we had requested outside). Great lunch!

Sunday night at AKL. Called downstairs to Jiko and told absolutely no ressies available that night. It was 8:00. Finished getting ready and headed out. Let's stop at Jiko and just ask if anything was available. Lots of people sitting and waiting. Go up to the desk. Anything available? Nothing. Can we sit in the bar? Yes, of course.....4 tables with no one in there. Great....sat right down and ordered wine and dinner......fantastic!!! Had the filet with mac/cheese with red wine reduction....best dinner ever!!!!!!!

So, you can get into restaurants without ressies.........Last year we did the same thing at Brown Derby and Le Cellier.:goodvibes

Either we are really lucky or some people just don't ask.:goodvibes

It's because they are 2TS credit places. We were there last month and also found that the 2TS credit places were fairly easy to get into.

I also think maybe it MGM too. This past May, late May, we were able to get a table at Mama Melrose's about ten minutes from when we asked, so that was nice. I do agree with the 2TS thing, it is easier to get into a 2TS resetraunt also.

With LeCellier I think you were lucky because I've seen people turned away from there every time I've eaten there, and I only go in slower times.

But with the signature dinning I think they are not in as big of a demand. They are expensive, whether you are paying money or credits. And while they welcome children they are not "kid friendly". Children that are not "restaurant friendly" don't do so well in signature restaurants as evidenced by the squeeling toddler who annoyed us all through our last Jiko dinner. Polite parents know which restaurants are good for their children and which are not, so some families aren't interested in signature dinning. The majority of the signature dinning establishments are at resorts that are difficult to get to using Disney transportation.

All of these factors lead me to believe that the signature restaurants aren't as popular and tend to have more openings.

When we were in the bar having dinner at Jiko, there was a couple with a little girl that was dead asleep while they were waiting for their table. I don't know if I would have still had dinner there or not. When their table was ready, the dad picked her up and threw her over his shoulder and they headed for their table. My daughter said that at least they can have an uninterrupted dinner.....that is until she woke up.;)
