Since we have our room numbers does that mean we will not get an upgrade?
We do not go until May 8 -12, we are a group so they gave us our room numbers, I was hoping for a upgrade since we have booked so early...
we have 10 rooms,
anyone stayed in 5124, is it noisy?

Everyone gets a stateroom number when they make a reservation.Does not mean you won't get changed later. It's when you get your papers in the mail right before your cruise that your stateroom is more or less fixed.

Respectfully disagreeing with MarkLem, I do not mean this as a flame but merely my understadning is different, so I will post and hope that by doing so I help the OP get a differing viewpoint.

Everybody does not get a room number when making a reservation. There are GTY reservation categories, which I believe are not used until there is a near sellout of a particular category. Basically, GTY means you are guaranteed no lower than that category, and if none become available, you may be assigned a higher category stateroom. The subsequent availability comes from cancellations, changes, deposits not made by the end of the courtesy period.

Getting statements does not fix your stateroom, either. My doc's were printed with one stateroom number, the one I had been told a couple months earlier, and then I received an upgrade after the doc's were printed and was contacted by the TA to tell me to make the changes on the luggage tags that are part of the doc's. I have also seen others post on the Board that they learned of an upgrade when checking in at the terminal.

I'm sure everyone would agree--book the category stateroom you will like and you will never be disappointed. Your large group in 10 rooms, if you are all currently near each other, may cause DCL to not consider y'all for upgrades because they might prefer to keep a group together if they booked together, and the opportunity for 10 rooms all being upgraded doesn't seem very high.

I have to agree with the previous poster - one can always hope for an upgrade, but never expect or rely on it. Book the kind of cabin that you really want so that you're not disappointed.

Sorry if I was incorrect. The two cruises I booked I was assigned a room number at reservation time. For me that was the room I ended up with as well, although many do get changed rooms after that fact.

I know that room assignments can be changed up to and including check in time at the port, and I would imagine that with enough valid complaining once on board a room could still be changed if space allows. In hindsight I should have been more specific in my previous posts. Sorry

We just got off the Wonder on Sunday....when we booked we were assigned 2 Cat 9 cabins with specific cabin numbers. When I checked my ressie online we had 2 Cat 6 verandah cabin numbers.....when my documents came it still had the Cat 9 cabin numbers so I called DCL to see where we actually were and sure enough we were in 2 Cat 6's. DCL told me to just cross off the old cabin number on the docs and enter the new cabin numbers and to put the new cabin numbers on the luggage tags.

All bags arrived to our cabins by 3:30 pm.

we are in Cabin 5122 right now. Don't keep cabin 5124!!! It was soooo noisey! There was some kind of grinding noise under us all the time every 10 minutes or so. I told guest services about it but they didn't seem to care. The luggage area and crew area is acroos from it as well. It was very convenient though. We rebooked for next year and just took the cabins above us but on the opposite side.

I just wanted to add something about the GTY staterooms. One of the previous posters mentioned..."There are GTY reservation categories, which I believe are not used until there is a near sellout of a particular category." I don't know for sure but when we booked our first cruise....we were given a choice to either pick a room # or go with GTY. We were booking fairly early...about 10 months prior to our sail date. We didn't know what the diffrence was and ended up picking GTY...Cat 12. By the time our docs came we were upgraded to a cat 11 deck 2...but by the time our sail date came we were upgraded again to cat 8 deck 7. So I'm not 100% sure...but I'm thinking you can pick GTY anytime.....not that you'd want to if you know what cabin your wanting...or even where on the ship your wanting to be.

thanks for all the info, I did want a balcony room that is what cat. I requested, some of my group (two rooms) are on deck 2... one room on deck 6... and the rest of us are on deck 5
CPM, I am sorry to hear that the ship is noisy, so do you think it is something they are trying to fix...
I am sooo looking forward to this cruise, that hopefully the noise will not dampen that...

I really don't know if it was fixable noise or not but if I were you I wouldn't chance it, I'd try & get moved. It was very loud plus the rooms are both across from the crew room. I heard banging from them all night as well. A crew member I talked to said decks 6 & 7 are the quietest, so deck 6 it is for me next time. It's the same cat. anway.

I had my travel agent check on the noise and this is what we were told... the CM were moved on that floor tempor. because of refurbishing the boat while it is at sea... when we are on the cruise they are suppose to be on the 7th floor, so I am afraid to move not sure what to do... and I am also afraid that I may ruin my chance of a upgrade if I was to request a certain room or area... any advise....

Cynilou,
What about the grinding noise that was under us? What was that? I did report that noise but never heard back.
I have heard of people that book certain cabins and are still asked if they want an upgrade.
Really, as far as an upgrade you would have to be upgraded to a cat 4 for it to make any difference anyway. A cat 5 is the same as a Cat 6, except you are on deck 7, not a difference IMO.
Being upgraded to a cat 4 is rare.
I have a cabin above the one I had this time booked for nect year. I did like the convenience of where it was.

when you book directly with disney, you get a room number at that time. Cannot speak for other companies
