Just assigned Room #6190 on Dream--- worried about being all the way aft.

We have just been switched from guaranteed to room #6190 on the Dream for our June 7 cruise.
This is as far aft as you can get. Our verandah looks out over the ship's wake.
This is a first for us. We've always been mid-ship.
Anyone have experience being in this area? Should I be working on getting a room change?

We are in 6192 (next door to you) for our cruise. The aft balconies are HUGE!! All reports indicate that they are nice rooms, and while there is a little vibration pulling into port, it is not really bothersome. We were in 9674 for the Dream Maiden Voyage, and loved it!!! Great views, deep balcony. A long walk to the restaurants (except for Cabanas ;-) but just about everything on the Dream is a long walk

Aft room benefits:
1. Very quiet hallway
2. Aft elevators much less crowded
3. Larger balconies
4. Close to the drink stations on deck 11
5. Aft elevators are convenient for Oceaneer's Lab check-in on deck 5.

There's a review of 6190 over on the stateroom report section from a DISer who stayed in it on 2/3/11. :

Notes: Very pleasant room that sleeps 3. I felt there was plenty of storage -- lots of little shelves, drawers, hooks, etc. No pull down bunk bed, but the couch does convert to a bed each night. Love the split bathrooms. Connects to 6192 (also sleeps 3). The verandah is HUGE. Probably at least 10X10 -- and we had them open a side door to 6192 (which has an even bigger verandah.) It was our first cruise so I can't compare to another location on the ship, but we did experience a fair amount of vibration and some engine noise, especially on the first night or when turning. No other noise from the clubs or other staterooms, and it's nice to not have very much traffic in the aft. The only other caution I'd give is that when in port, the flag flown off the back whips around a lot -- can be noisy, fly into the verandah area, and sometimes blocks the view. My kids loved to catch it and throw it back out again (The flag is probably about 20 feet by 20 feet long -- also huge.) So the extremely large verandahs were wonderful, but came with the price of a large flag in your way during port stays (they take it down when sailing). It's more of an issue for room 6192, but it did affect ours a bit.

Do not change your stateroom. Balcony is huge and since you back in most places the views are terrific. There was a little vibration when coming into port but it got you up so you didn't miss it. This was our first xperience at an aft cabin and i would absolutely do it again.

The flag sometimes blows into the balcony area but that is only at port and not an issue.

I love the aft cabins. You may feel some vibration but it's worth it for the absolute quiet in the area and the great verandah. I wouldn't switch if I were you!

My family & I are going on our 1st Disney cruise on May 5th on the Dream! We are in room #6190. So far, I've heard good things about the location and the balcony. I do plan on doing a trip report with pics when we get back. But, since I'm not sure how long it will take me to complete that, I will subscribe to this thread & come back & tell you what I thought about the room & the location. And I'll also post some pics for you.

We're in the same room - planned that way - for our cruise in Sept. We always sailed mid-ship starboard and were in very aft of Wonder and lived it, especially at CC since we almost always back in to the dock. Love the bigger balconies and quiet nature. Hi! We just got off of the Dream today. First of all, let me say, that ship is amazing!!! It's beautiful & there is so much for everyone to do. DH & I both thought the ship staff was even nicer than the ones you meet in WDW, if that's even possible. Anyway, on to what I'm here for: room #6190 review. I really loved our room. First, being all the way in the aft, it is so nice & quiet back there. Deck 6 is great because there's nothing on it but staterooms. The balcony is large & spacious. With the view looking out over the wake of the boat, you get the prettiest water to view. And you get more of a panoramic view of where you've been. And when you pull into port, you'll have gorgeous views from the balcony. Now, I won't lie, when you start sailing out of a port, you do feel the motors really going. But, the only time we were "rocking" was on the 1st night. I don't know if it's normally this way just out of Port Canaveral or maybe we just hit some choppy waters that night. Other than that, it was fine. I don't know if the stateroom hosts change locations or not, but ours was Ronald Serra. He was awesome. We always had great animal towels every night. And on our first night, he came in to tell us some things about the room. Well our DS, who is 3, took a liking to him & Ronald just sat there for a while talking to him & playing with him. We did the 3 night. DH & I had only cruised one other time - 7 years ago - and it was a horrible experience. The only way I could convince him to try a Disney cruise was if I booked the least amount of nights & got him a balcony. We all loved the Disney cruise! On the first night, the "rocking" was probably around 8:30, 9:00 that night. I took a Bonine & felt better. DH noticed it but never felt bad, so he was fine. I forgot to mention how convenient the aft elevators are. They aren't far from the room & were rarely busy. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. I'm not gonna lie- I'm so jealous that you're doing the 5-nighter! I am already ready to go back. I started to tear up as we walked off the boat yesterday!

You're welcome! The only time the flag was blowing onto our verandah, that we noticed, was while we were still in Port Canaveral. It would just blow onto our railing, not far in. I would just pick it up & throw it back over. My 3 year old son thought this was hilarious! When you're sailing, it comes down.

On the day of Castaway Cay, we woke up at 7:20. We had requested room service to be delivered between 730 & 8. I was promptly delivered at 730. I want to say the boat was docking when we woke up, but don't quote me on that. The view of the island from the verandah is gorgeous. We left the room between 830 & 845. We went down the aft elevators because there was a gangway there. There was absolutely NOBODY there. Walked off, got on a tram to the second stop & were on the beach for 9. We got 2 lounge chairs & 2 regular chairs on the front row near the entrance to Pelican Plunge. Now, you can't get back on the ship at the aft, you will have to go to midship.

I don't know if you have kids or not that will be in the Oceaneers Club but our son loved. Again, very convenient from that room. Just a quick walk down 1 flight of stairs & a little bit of walk down a hallway. I only wish the Club & the Lab weren't connected. It can make finding your kid a bit of a "treasure" hunt.

We saw Villians Tonight & Believe! They were both amazing. Villians was my husband's favorite and he normally doesn't like shows like that. Believe made me shed a few tears at the end.

We didn't get to go to any of the adult lounges at night. But, we did tour them one day while our son was in the club. I thought the District was okay, Pink looked pretty, the sports lounge (687?) was really nice, very manly & Skyline is really cool.

I was hoping to start my trip report tonight, but I don't think it's gonna happen. Hopefully, I'll be able to start it in a few days. I took lots of notes, so I'm hoping I remember it all well. I'll let you know when I start it. In the meantime, please let me know if I can answer anything else for you. I truly don't mind!!!
