Just Another Rumor

I doubt we will see a 5th gate until Disney addresses some of the issues in their current parks, in terms of more stuff needed in DAK, Epcot, and DHS. Once they get those issues addressed and if the DVC continues to expand and become profitable, then maybe they will look at a 5th gate. I think they they would also need to wait to see how some of the overseas Disneys do and maybe look at one for South America? (Assuming they create a princess born in the rain forest...lol).

Imagineers are paid to imagine, so I am sure there is concept art and rough ideas related to villains that could either become a park or a new land somewhere. The concept itself is actually solid if you truly think about it. I would assume that it would be marketed to families/individuals with older kids or no kids and would be more designed to go head to head against Universal. I doubt it would be be truly scary in the haunted house/halloween way.

But again, until Disney deals with Avtarland, possible SW and Carsland expansion I do not see another gate opening soon,

Totally agree! Also think that any new park will be totally linked to 1000's of new DVC Rooms. It just make sense from a business stand point.

I have heard this rumor since the 4th park was completed. As much as I would love to see this happen, I believe it to be rumor only.

Here is a crazy but fun idea, Disney could create a "hybrid park." I don't know what else to call it but in the daytime the themes, characters, even the structures could be "kid friendly" but at dusk the park could begin a transformation:

for example,

-street lamps change from a warm orange glow to a dark, blood red
-traditional characters exit and villains start walking the park
-building structures, murals, paintings, windows change to dark themes right before people's eyes (for example, imagine a Notre Dame Cathedral Hunchback ride with happy angel stone figures on the outside rotating into scary demon gargoyles)
-even food & beverage can suddenly change to villain themes
-rides, attractions could change as if the villain took over (for example, imagine a mountain roller coaster ride themed for Fantasia but then at night the mountain cracks open and splits its sides apart to reveal huge wings and the smokey eyes of the Chernabog)

It would be fun to have this scary but magical transformation to the park and I would think that it would be a good tradeoff: families with young kids could be there in the daytime and then families with older kids, adult groups, etc. can come in for the night atmosphere - that would be nice for Disney since they like getting people to come in and quickly purchase and get out for the next group to come in and quickly purchase, etc. But as a parent who can't keep my sleepy child there past 7 or 8, but as a teenager loved the night atmosphere, I would think that others might find something like a "hybrid park" fun.

My family and I are going to Disney World, through a package from my union. At a Union meeting this weekend, this guy was talking, claiming that he has family involved with some of the Disney's imagineers.

His Rumor was that by 2018, Disney will have a 5th park. The park name has not been determined yet, but the park will be the exact replica of Magic Kingdom, except it will be darker and twisted.

As you walk through Main st, instead of it being happy and jolly, the main st buildings will be made to look old and run down, even haunted. The castle will still be the focal point, but it will be darker as if a Malevolent force took over. The Parades in the park will have all the villains, throughout all the Disney movies, walking and escorting floats. On the floats, there will be cages with Mickey, Minnie and the rest of the gang locked in the cages. The whole idea and theme is that the families visiting, will be accomplaces to taking over the park. During meet and greets, there will be a villain, along with a beloved character, who will be in shackles, to take a picture with.

Im not putting this on here saying I think this is true. IMO, I cannot see Disney doing something so scary to little ones.

According to this guy, he was making bets with people who didnt believe him and he was stressing to people to not bet, if they had no intentions of paying. None of the people from this union dinner, are people who will be retiring soon, so I am looking forward to 2018 lol. The person who told this rumor, is the person who put together this vacation.
~I would love a new park, but not this. Eww. Disney can barely seem to manage upkeep of the other four parks -- two of which are shells, with just a few good attractions. I can't see a fifth park until this is accomplished.
