...the excitement is mounting here in New Jersey ! We are leaving next Thurs, 10/28,,,very, very early morning to beat all that Baltimore/Wash DC/VA traffic that we all love so much.

We are scheduled to check in on Friday, 10/29, but wondering...if you get there before the "official" 1 p.m. check in....can you park in overflow and walk around to check out the Fort?

Kids, parents and grandparents too are really getting excited as our long-awaited trip will be here before you know it! This being our FIRST time at FW, we just cant wait to see all the wonderfulness we have been reading about. Had Grandpa make some green Mickey ear signs so come on and say Hello...hoping to be in Loop 900 !

You can usually get in before the official check in time if they have sites available. That "walk around and check out the Fort" might be a job. The place is a mile long and about a half mile wide, with countless loops interspersed. And the overflow is at the very entrance...a long way from the Meadows and Marina, etc. When you do get in and get set up be sure to leave some time in your otherwise busy schedule to spend some relaxation time at the Fort. Hope you have a very happy and magical trip and everyone enjoys it.

KIMBER, our family goes down one day early and stays in a nearby

CG so we can get over to the Fort early. This has allowed us to park

in the OF parking lot, receive our TEE TIME CART, go looping in our

requested loop to see what's available. Well, there have been some changes

to the OF lot however, I'm sure those who have gone since July can

better answer that particular question. Have a great trip, take lots of pics

and tell us all about it.

When you arrive go through the check in lanes and they will go ahead and do your paperwork. If a site is already available they will give you your site number and let you go. If one is not yet available they will take your cell number and direct you to the overflow lot. They will then call you when your site is available.
While you are waiting you are welcome to take a bus back into the campground and get off anywhere to do a little exploring. I would suggest the pool and recreation area or go up the the lake at the other end of the fort.
At any rate have a great time and look for other DisBoard members who will be identified by their green Mickey Mouse head signs. There will be a bunch of us around that week since we are having a GG which will probably be in the 1700 or 1600 loop.

We won't be too far behind you..and are just as excited. I know what you mean about needing to leave early enough to miss the Baltimore/DC rush! We will be checking in on 11/4. We will also have our ears out and will hopefully get to meet a few Dis'ers. Have a safe trip down and enjoy Halloween at the Fort!

Same here!!! One week from right now the camper will be hitched up and we'll be leaving later Thursday afternoon so we can get past Atlanta late Thursday night, then finish the drive early Friday.

Well it looks like some of you folks have some traveling to do, we folks up here in new england know all to well about beating the traffic, but most of the time it's not beating it, it's joining it, not by choice it just happens.
Whatever time you leave at, be safe and enjoy the trip, smell the roses, when stopped to food and fuel up, talk to the folks around you, it will really make your trip more fun. this is a great country. Just to say, "yeah been there done" That doesn't count. I want to hear everyone say "been there, talked to everyone and invited them over, done that...) have fun..

Today, being Sunday, we are in the throes of: "What did we forget"....ohh...,:dont forget ____ or _____",,,,etc, etc. lol, lol.

We have the trailer in the driveway, intermittently loading clothes, food and various other things we will need for our trip.

Even our little dog Marley is excited as she sees the trailer being prepped for the BIG trip,

Kaclac4: Wow...you are comign from our neck of the woods....we are 15 minutes over the Walt Whitman bridge from Philadelphia. How about you?

Since we drove back in 2007, have an idea of the drive we are in for,,,,BUT this time towing the TT...have to say Im just a little nervous , but hopefully all will go well.

Really looking forward to our FIRST time at the Fort, FIRST time to Disney in the fall and Halloween.

Looking forward to the experience of traveling and meeting all of the new faces at the Forst. We requested Loop 900 so stop by and say Hello !

We are coming from Cape May, can't go any further south in Jersey!. Anyway, we used to take the ferry to Delaware and then head down through the Chesapeake Bay tunnel, but with the ferry now costing us apr. $188 round trip and the fact that we want to leave earlier than their first boat departs, we have decided to drive up to the Delaware Memorial Bridge and get on I-95. We figure if we leave prior to 3:00 a.m. we will miss DC/Baltimore rush (hopefully!). How long is your stay at the Fort? Have a safe and wonderful trip if we don't get to meet!

yep, Cape May IS as far south as you can go, lol, lol !!!

We too jump right on 295 South for the long haul down to FL....this time though my father-in-law (an ex-trucker driver) gave us an alternate route to totally miss the Baltimore/DC mess....picking up Route 1 to 301 and will pick up 95S again down in Petersburg VA. Should be interesting.

We are set to arrive at FW on Fri, 10/29 and departing on Fri, 11/5...and hoping to be in Loop 900. Perhaps we will run into each other for a southern New Jersey 'hello' before we pull out.
