Just a silly little TR - Run Away!!

Anybody do the math? No? I gave the three of us 15 minutes to get up, get dressed, get ready, get our stuff and get going. !!!

Even I'm not that bad at math:p

P1000068.jpg

No. It’s not a dolphin.

Oh dear :faint:

I
We went in the water.

Are you out of your ever loving mind????? :scared1:

Eventually, we were surrounded by about half a dozen sharks.

Just what every mother wants to hear about her children:faint:

Look, it's Ponzi!!!'

What? Where?

WOW, Ponzi, you look exactly like Ponzi should look! What a coincidence!

Oddly enough, it does sorta look like me. Only it's the reverse of what I usually see when I look in a mirror.

think about it for a bit.

Kudos to all of you for doing that dive, I think I would sit that one out too, but it looks like a lot of fun  If you care for that sort of thing...
And to think I even turned down my DH's offer for a leisurly river ride while they go white water rafting............

I think I convinced Elle to go after one of her 'friends' had bragged about swimming with dolphins. I asked her, "Yeah, but what's cooler? Swimming with dolphins... or swimming with sharks?

That was an awesome video. Thanks for a great chapter, and I hope you can get out of work early tomorrow.

Thanks! And only 8 1/2 hours today!

It's Ponzi!!! Wow! Thanks for revealing yourself!

Oh shoot! Was my zipper down?

I am shocked that you got 2 young women out of bed and ready to go in 10 minutes.

It's amazing what threats will do, isn't it?

That tour sounds awesome. When I watched the video I realized that I was saying "Wow" out loud (only one in the room, wasn't even talking to the dogs)

Looks like and incredibly cool experience.

We're all glad we did it. Even Elle. But it was so rough, I'm not sure I'd do it again. Kinda like a bucket list thing. "Okay! That one's checked off... next!"

IT WAS A SHARK CAGE TOUR????

Well, if there wasn't a cage... I might not be here to write this TR...

... wait a minute...

I was thinking, 'Oh, how nice that sounds, a nice little 2 hour, relaxing boat tour, I'd like to do that someday. Would I wear a pretty floppy hat or a cute, sporty ball cap?' SHEESH??? Sharks??!! BRAVE Ponzi family!!!! Brave Elle and Kay!!!

Great chapter!!

Thanks! And if I get to choose... ball cap.

Oh my gosh you are all so brave! I could never do that! I don't even like getting my hair wet in the pool

I had to know deep down inside that I was perfectly safe. Otherwise it would've been a much drier trip. It did NOT help when I had to sign the big long waiver!

Great picture of you and your girls!

Thanks Dawn!

Oh my gosh - Wilson reveals himself!!!

Well, Wilson did reveal himself eventually, so...

You guys are so brave to conquer the shark cage :thumbsup2 To me the ocean is to cool off in when you are sitting on the beach with a cocktail :beach:

Usually, it's not even for cooling off. I have to see a lot of people in the water first. Kind of like, "hmmm.... looks like it might be sorta, kinda, safe."

Thanks for sharing - your girls are beautiful.

You're welcome! And yes, they are, aren't they?

I'm not sure what is scarier to me. Swimming with sharks or only having 15 minutes to get ready.

Just throw on that cute cover up and you're good to go.

Did you size them up to determine if you could live on a deserted island with them?

No. I was deciding who I'd be able to throw off the dingy if we sank.

Wouldn't everybody have fluttering hearts?

Yup. Which is why I have to figure out who to toss out of the dingy... 'cause it ain't gonna be me!

How did you almost drown a couple of times?

That's a bit of a long story, sure you want it?

Did they pay you to go on this thing?

It does seem odd that we paid someone to almost get eaten. :lmao:

I love ‘em both… I’m going to be in so much trouble, soon.

With which one?

Both! :scared:

Cool video! Glad I'm not there.

:lmao:

Nice picture! So first there was the shadow silhouette and now sunglasses and hat? Will we see actual eyes in the next photo?

Well, Nebo showed a close up of his eye once and people were scarred for life, so....

Really interesting adventure Ponzi. Thanks!

You're welcome!

Wow! What an adventure! I am amazed you did that - AND got two girl up and out to the car in 10 minutes :thumbsup2

Swimming with sharks? Easy. Getting the girls up and out in 10 minutes? ... I leave that as an exercise for the alert reader.

Great video! I was almost too afraid to watch it! You send mom off to work and the adventure begins! :rotfl2:

And that's just the way Ruby wants it.

Wow! Fantastic tour and pics. My bf is a diver and just got back from Papua New Guinea and they swam with manta rays but I hate to tell him that the sharks are cooler. :)

And hungrier!

The descriptions of your daughters reminds me of this Mustang commercial.

Jill in CO

:headache: D'oh! Another video I have to catch up at when I'm home. I'll look later, honest!

Is it just me? Or does anybody else think Ponzi and Nebo are long lost brothers? I don't have Photoshop on my work computer, but I was able to put this together real quick. Show of hands on who says they're actually brothers. :rotfl: Pay particular attention to the hat and mustache. That's why they each have the same sense of humor and are so good at writing TR's. And I apologize in advance if you spit coffee, tea or whatever it is your drinking, all over your monitor.

Vell, vee are both good stock from zee fazzer land, ya?

Slowly catching up. A few comments and then i'm off to see what i can do to this...I mean, what i can say about the latest chapter...;)

Do to this? Uh, oh.

Mmmm…Chocolate. White, dark, semi-sweet, milk…All of them above…Chocolate…Wha? Huh? Did someone say something?

::yes::

Oh wait…I knew I had quoted this for a reason…DH loves white chocolate, so I more than likely will have to try this recipe. Although from the sounds of it, I may have to try all the recipes. Good think I love to bake. :stir: and good think DH loves to eat what I bake.

I'm planning on doing snickerdoodles tonight... if I have the energy. But I think that one'll be next... they all sound so good!

Lose readers? Are you nuts? I can’t speak for everyone else, but you can’t get rid of me that easily.

155fs853955.gif

Thanks for saying that! :goodvibes Now who does Elmo represent here... me or you?

Is it just me or did anyone else think of the movie Grease after reading that last line? You know, where they are having the slumber party, and they are all drinking wine and Jan takes out the twinkies and everyone makes fun of her, telling her “twinkies and wine? Oh that’s real class.” but she points out that “it says right here it is a dessert wine”
2020.gif
Nope? Just me huh…

Just you.

At least not me. I still haven't seen that movie. :sad2:

Plus…I’m sort of posting incognito at the moment. I’m in violation as I haven’t posted a cookie recipe yet…Shhh…Eeek…Is that Ponzi?

Oh, it's okay. Believe me I know how busy life gets! No worries.

Although, this could clarify a lot, Who knows...Maybe they are one in the same. Nebo is actually Ponzi, or Ponzi is actually Nebo...Maybe this is the real reason, Ponzi won't give up his real name...::yes::

Nope. My name is not Steve. Or is it?

Hey! What about me? I was the one that took the pic...T-Man just posted it...A girl just can't catch a break...

facepalm_panda.gif

A million apologies! Geez I'm a photographer and I didn't credit another shutter bug??? Aaarrrgghhh.... That's what happens when you do shout outs at the end of a 17 hour shift. Bad ponzi! Bad!

Great shot Mrs. T. And with a point & shoot too! Kudos!

To view this picture, please put on your special glasses :3dglasses now.

Taken by Lady H. More pictures of this event to come later.

(Picture taken with a point and shoot digital camera through the solar eclipse viewers)

Dig that! We didn't have a view of it here, thanks T-Man and Lady H, for sharing that!!

1. It’s my DDad’s Birthday… and I’m missing it ‘cause I’m in Hawaii. Well, he missed Elle’s birthday ‘cause he was on a Panama cruise so that makes us even… or at least he and Elle are even.

Cool way to celebrate your Dad's bday!:cake:

Ah, well. All in all it was a very exciting morning. Don’t the girls look happy?
P1000073.jpg

Great shot! :thumbsup2

Look, it's Ponzi!!!'

WOW, Ponzi, you look exactly like Ponzi should look! What a coincidence!

Yeah, how'd that happen?

Surfing with sharks… part 1

Did I not mention that the tour was a shark cage tour? Must’ve slipped my mind.

No, No, No, No, No, No, No!

When we arrived at the dive site, the cage was already in the water. The cage is about a square 7 feet wide and 9 feet tall… with 2 feet extending above the water so the big, hungry, people chomping fish can’t get in. The boat ties up to the cage and the first half of the group climbs in. We were in the second group.

Did you feel like the lobsters in the tank at the grocery store? Like the sharks were choosing which of you they'd like for lunch?

Elle was particularly nervous and wasn’t sure if she’d even go in. I had told her that she could stay on the boat if she wanted, but she said she’d at least try it. I’m kinda glad we were going last so she could have time to psych herself into it.

While we were waiting our turn, the crew kept us entertained by discussing the various types of sharks we might see and their role in the ecosystem.

Soon enough, it was our turn to get wet. We donned masks and snorkels and climbed into the cage. Elle was hesitant, but went in.

Elle, your first reaction was the correct one. There is no need to get that close to a shark.

I can understand wanting to do the trail ride on horseback. It was beautiful scenery, and although they are big animals and can be unpredictable and skittish at times, they don't normally eat you.

you know there's a funny thing about sharks. They don't actually "eat" humans, we actually mimick what injured fish and other marine life do when we swim. SOOO they think we may be lunch but usually once they take a bite they will "spit it out" because we taste bad to them. So I think you guys would have been ok unless for some reason you were that shark's "Zebra Dome", but I think you more likely would have been his "Beverly".:thumbsup2

Funny thing about your pic Ponzi. It's exactly how I thought you might look BUT Tman is correct...You and Nebo look suspiciously similiar. Handsome men both and your wives are lucky ladies. (or maybe they got stand ins for the pictures? Are you really cast members hired just for the pics? ROFL

For anyone interested here is a link in my signature not to a TR but kind of. Short story about my Disney magic moment with my DD. It's a few years old but nice to go back and read.

Even I'm not that bad at math:p

Me neither... see what sleep deprivation can to do you???

Oh dear :faint:

Oh yes. ::yes::

Are you out of your ever loving mind????? :scared1:

I've never been in a right mind, so I don't see why that day would be any different.

Just what every mother wants to hear about her children:faint:

Well, Ruby wasn't there, so... :rolleyes1:
Cool way to celebrate your Dad's bday!:cake:

I never looked at it that way! I'll have to mention that to him when I talk to him next.

Great shot! :thumbsup2

Don't look at me! I was busy trying not to look dumb! Wish I'd succeeded. :sad2:

Did you feel like the lobsters in the tank at the grocery store? Like the sharks were choosing which of you they'd like for lunch?

Actually... yes.

What I'm curious about is how you say that horses "don't normally eat you."

Yeah... but I wasn't keen on trying out the theory... Here Mr. Shark, try a little of my arm. Go ahead. OW! Ha! Ha! Joke's on you! Doesn't taste so good huh? You should see the look on your face!... Can I have my arm back now?

For anyone interested here is a link to my one time only post. Not a TR but kind of. Short story about my Disney magic moment with my DD. It's a few years old but nice to go back and read.

Thanks for that link. Enjoyed reading it. :goodvibes

What I'm curious about is how you say that horses "don't normally eat you."

My comment was poorly worded. Everybody knows horses don't eat humans, and as a general rule, don't like to eat anything but vegetation. We tried to get my mom's horse to eat an egg yolk once, and she would not - it was fun to watch, though. My dad's horse ate a 3 foot length of chain while following my dad around the corral one day, but he did it for attention and left one link hanging out (so my dad could pull it out). This was way back when I was in high school.

What a great chapter!
Funny, I read that line about,," I discovered I scream the same way,,,,," a few months ago myself and forgot about it, that's a great line!
So tell me, is that the Aussie guy you mentioned posing with your kids or the German guy?

Actually, the second I looked at the pic, I thought,
"Uh oh, uh oh I can't believe it, you gotta be kidding me!"
I knew it was inevitable that somebody would compare us, I'm surprised it made it all the way down to Thumperman. But Smidgy says you don't have the big, round German nose that I've been blessed with.

Again, great report, thanks for sharing!

What a great antidote, I mean anecdote,, you know a person is a true Disneyholic when they can use "beverly" in a sentance, and know what it means.

Dana, your story ties in quite nicely with Pkondz and his girls. It's really fun to get to spend time with your loved ones on vacation. Never underestimate your child's capacity to know what's really bothering you when you ask them a question.:flower3:

You know she's 22 now and we went to a wedding yesterday where she told me thanks for raising her to know right from wrong and to be a good person. She said that she was proud to be my daughter and that she appreciates that I let her learn lessons (even when they hurt) but am still there to councel (council?) when it's over. She's glad she learned responsibility and can't wait to be a parent herself (BUAHAHA I can't wait either )

What a great chapter!

the interesting thing is in that picture Nebo you look EXACTLY like my uncle (except he's grayer than you, although can't tell much of that for sure with that hat on).

Thumper man I think you are spot on there!

Ponzi what an incredible adventure for you and your girls. Al I can say is "WOW!"

Thanks for the space Ponzi. Lady H said she's almost done breaking down your shark adventure. In the meantime, as promised, more pictures of the eclipse taken by Lady H.

If they're interfering with the report, let me know and I'll take them down.

Eclipse first starting.

About half way to being full.

Almost there.

This one you've already seen, but we'll post it again to keep the timeline going.

Moon starting to head out.

Half way the other way.

Last picture she got right at the start of sunset

We never did get to see the moon fully uncover the sun. The sun had set before we got the chance. I used a video camera to take even closer pictures. I'll just post a link to those pictures after I've managed to pull them out of the video.

What do you mean down to Thumper_Man? :confused3 Ponzi isn't the only one who can work with pictures you know. I may not be as good as he is, but I can work a little magic every now and then.

Vell, vee are both good stock from zee fazzer land, ya?

I thought you were Canadian Eh.

Great shot Mrs. T. And with a point & shoot too! Kudos!

I gave credit to the photographer. So do I get off the couch tonight?

ThumperMan and ThumperMan's Wife, Holy cow those eclipse pictures are amazing! Thanks so much for sharing! :thumbsup2

It's nice to have pictures in the TR that don't make me cringe in fright, unlike what you can quite unexpectedly find in a Nebo TR! For the love of pete, I am still trying to unsee the eye and cow pictures! :scared:

I see you Pkondz!!! ;)

Seriously, when I saw the chapter title I thought you were using "surfing with sharks" as a euphemism. The terror and excitement of you actually doing it hit me pretty quickly though. I like watching sharks on Discovery or reading about them in books, and yes, I even like watching Jaws. But in the water with them. No way Jose!

I'm with Elle, but I actually never get in the water, I just successfully hold the towels for the surfing Pkondz family! ;)

What an adventure for you, Kay and Elle! It's really awesome! :thumbsup2

I like the way you casually inserted the picture as well Pkondz. Sharks, sharks, completely cool video of sharks, Pkondz picture.....hey, wait a second....PKONDZ!!!!

In the spirit of all the baked goods discussed in the TR, I have a cute little story to share with you guys. My mom likes to bake but within the last few years she has taken to trying to make her baked goodies "healthy". If I want healthy I will purposefully eat veggies or fruit, but if I want something home made, I want it decidedly unhealthy.

My mom brought some strawberry muffins by tonight. They looked great, but she had mentioned that she used wheat flour and "just a smidgen" of sugar. Before I could say anything, DD's hand shot out to take a muffin, but before she could bite into it my mom left. I'm glad she did because I wouldn't have wanted to hurt her feelings, but DD made a "yuck" face and promptly put it back in the bag! :rotfl: To be honest, it was a little on the dry side with minimal strawberry flavor, so I can't blame DD.

Lest you think I am a bad parent, I must remind you that four year old DD is the culprit of the cream-less Oreos in the package for the rest of her unsuspecting family. Thus she learned an important lesson tonight.... bad things can come in good packages!!! ;)

.

oh puhleeasse!! you made me say "gack!" (ok, not about ponzi), but dana, we have to live with these guys, you know!!!;)

ponzi, you guys do kinda look alike. except for the nose. oh, and the ears. but your eyes are alike (oops, you have sunglasses on) but you are both wearing hats, and you both have mustaches!!!:lmao: but you have hairy legs.:rotfl:

ok ok everyone, they do resemble each other. but not as much as they are alikein their humour or writing style or personalities, it seems.

ponzi, great chapter.. I don't know if I would be that brave. even in a cage, you saw what the shark in Jaws did to that cage!

and I, too, am amazed that you got 2 teen girls to get ready in 10 minutes!!!
